The morning of November the 15th seems rather normal- that is, if you can avoid the glowing cracks in the fabric of reality tucked away among various streets. Still, they don't really seem to be doing much of anything and you can't quite see through them, so maybe they're decoration? This wouldn't be the first time the gods pulled some weird shit to shake things up around here.
By midafternoon, however, something changes. Cecily, in all her wisdom, decides to attempt to dispel one of these rifts, and the resulting shockwave sends tremors through the city. Tears throughout Hadriel open wider and allow for various demons to burst through and terrorize the various citizens. Demons will be tearing through in all corners of the city, though you can choose to avoid them if you like.
Look out for Pride and Rage demons, who attempt to brute force their way to you and feed off of your anger, steel yourselves against Despair and Fear demons who grow stronger as you give up hope, and definitely cross the street to avoid the Desire demons, who can take either male or female forms and will offer you everything you want if you just let them in.
Demons will either focus on attacking you or tempting you by taking advantage of and feeding off of your basic emotions. Agreeing to let a demon help you and mentally folding to it generally means that the demon will begin to possess you and start calling the shots- often using you as a vessel to hurt others and sow discord. If you happen to have any sort of magical abilities, extended possession can lead toward becoming an abomination after the corruption takes root.
So... you might want to avoid all of that. Luckily, there are some good things happening that can distract you- along with the demons, several nugs and fennec foxes will also pop up around the city, and if you don't want them to die a horrible death to a hungry demon, you might consider adopting them. In addition, you may find a random potion laying around- maybe this can help you fight off those demons, or maybe it'll make every nug in the city love you- or maybe it's secretly a jar of bees. Wouldn't be the first time you guys let bees in jars get a little out of hand.► This log covers November 15th-November 25th.

[The dog chuffs in agreement.]
It gettin' any better out there?
no subject
Not really. These ones are even trying to attack me, unlike those zombie things. At least recovering isn't a problem...
[He'd probably have to eat or sleep sooner than usual, though. Ugh. Oh well, at least Barnaby's here, prepared for belly rubs...!]
Have you been staying in here the whole time?
no subject
Pretty much. I went out a bit, but I got everything I need in here.
no subject
Interesting stock for a pawn shop. [But then, might as well, when there wasn't a real economy.] Do you live here?
no subject
[Also it has more weapons.]
no subject
I suppose. I'm not really sure I would bother finding another place, if I was working here, though. Especially since bad things tend to happen whenever someone bothers to go outside.
no subject
no subject
[Which isn't surprising, but to Warrick it means that clearly Barnaby owns the place.]
no subject
no subject
Taller than me?
[He's 6'0", so. Not that it really matters because he's still sure he doesn't know a Richie and doesn't really have any intention of seeking him out. Since this isn't Miriam's place, though, let's just look around for some knick knacks to slip into his pockets for no real reason...]
no subject
[You don't steal from a thief, buddy.]
no subject
It's not like you need them. And they're not yours! They're crazy Richie's.
[He puts most of them back. Will she notice...]
no subject
[Thus she's playing a game to see exactly how far he'll take her, business wise.]
no subject
You know, I'm pretty sure Barnaby wants me to have these.
no subject
Well, he might. If you made his day.
[She brightens.]
So whatcha got for my man?
no subject
I have a mystery potion that probably isn't poison, but I imagine those aren't really in high demand. I have lots of scritches?
[Let him pay in scritches, Barnaby...]
I have an axe, and I won't give you that, but I could chop up monsters into more manageable steak sizes.
no subject
[Though....
Miriam props her chin up on her palm, thinking.]
You seem like a capable dude. Am I right?
no subject
At the question, he moves his hand in an uncertain scale.]
I suppose...? Depends what for.
[Like, he's not...strong... He was pretty scrawny from being sick when he was twenty, and that's when he did his curse. He hasn't been able to put on muscle mass since then. But the answer to "do you even lift bro" is "I can levitate", so, uh.]
no subject
[She blinks up at him. It's too late to pretend she's helpless, but there are other games.]
That'd be fair, wouldn't it?
no subject
Let's settle for a tentative yes. Although you'd still rank third on the list of people here that I'd help. I'm first, obviously. Barnaby's second.
[Listen... Dogs are Amazing.]
no subject
I can work with that.
[Barnaby never goes anywhere without her. She blinks through her curls at Warrick.]
You can keep 'em.
[The knickknacks he tried to steal.]
And you should let me know if you're looking for anything special. 'cause I'm good at that sorta thing. Finding stuff. 'specially stuff you don't want anyone else to get first.
no subject
I can't think of anything I'd want like that. Most things don't really matter.
[These don't either, stealing is just fun. Their acquisition has definitely been ruined by Miriam's permission.]
Right now I just need opportunities to give people hope. [MAKES A FACE]
