The morning of November the 15th seems rather normal- that is, if you can avoid the glowing cracks in the fabric of reality tucked away among various streets. Still, they don't really seem to be doing much of anything and you can't quite see through them, so maybe they're decoration? This wouldn't be the first time the gods pulled some weird shit to shake things up around here.
By midafternoon, however, something changes. Cecily, in all her wisdom, decides to attempt to dispel one of these rifts, and the resulting shockwave sends tremors through the city. Tears throughout Hadriel open wider and allow for various demons to burst through and terrorize the various citizens. Demons will be tearing through in all corners of the city, though you can choose to avoid them if you like.
Look out for Pride and Rage demons, who attempt to brute force their way to you and feed off of your anger, steel yourselves against Despair and Fear demons who grow stronger as you give up hope, and definitely cross the street to avoid the Desire demons, who can take either male or female forms and will offer you everything you want if you just let them in.
Demons will either focus on attacking you or tempting you by taking advantage of and feeding off of your basic emotions. Agreeing to let a demon help you and mentally folding to it generally means that the demon will begin to possess you and start calling the shots- often using you as a vessel to hurt others and sow discord. If you happen to have any sort of magical abilities, extended possession can lead toward becoming an abomination after the corruption takes root.
So... you might want to avoid all of that. Luckily, there are some good things happening that can distract you- along with the demons, several nugs and fennec foxes will also pop up around the city, and if you don't want them to die a horrible death to a hungry demon, you might consider adopting them. In addition, you may find a random potion laying around- maybe this can help you fight off those demons, or maybe it'll make every nug in the city love you- or maybe it's secretly a jar of bees. Wouldn't be the first time you guys let bees in jars get a little out of hand.► This log covers November 15th-November 25th.

17th-ish
So it's only by chance that he comes across Hakkai mutilating some creature. He should just go - he is aware of that - but he hesitates.
He doesn't know Hakkai that well. They've talked at the clinic a few times, but not much more than that - but he knows this isn't like him. Even so, Adam should leave it alone.
He keeps his distance, at least, but he does stop.]
Um... are you all right?
no subject
Adam...do you believe in redemption? No matter how heinous the sin, do you think a person can be redeemed? Who decides that?
[His voice is quiet, but audible.]
no subject
I'm not a religious person. I think redemption probably lies with the people you care about - whether they think you've done enough or not - and with yourself.
[It's the best answer Adam can give. He keeps his voice soft, as calming as he can make it.]
no subject
[He laughs as though an inside joke was made.]
Would that even be true if the sinner enjoyed the sin at the time?
[He lifts his foot and presses it slowly onto the creatures already lifeless skull, crushing it]
no subject
[He winces, watching Hakkai. This is dangerous - he should get out of here. Cabeswater will probably protect him if something happens, but that's no reason to put himself in danger.]
Are you looking for redemption from me? I'm not a good choice for that.
no subject
[There's a brief pause]
Mm...? Was I just saying something?
[He looks over at Adam and then to the dead thing then back to Adam as if trying to put two and two together.]
Are you all right Adam? I don't...quite understand what happened here...
[That's not good. That's not good at all]
no subject
You didn't quite seem to be yourself. Are you feeling all right?
[All of Adam's common sense and practicality are telling him to walk away. But Hakkai has been, if not a friend, a colleague. Adam can't just leave.]
no subject
He furrows his brows just a bit.]
I'm feeling a little tired and disoriented...
[His eyes go back to having a far away look to them again before he shakes his head quickly.]
It's dangerous out here right now, isn't it? You should try and keep safe.
[He smiles softly. Because to Hakkai, his clinic colleagues are important to Hadriel and the only ones that have kept him company.]
no subject
[He keeps his voice soft and careful, and he's watching Hakkai's hands - an instinct learned from years of expecting blows. But Hakkai seems to have some control over himself, seems to be more like himself right now.]
Maybe we should both head home. It'll be safer there.
[It doesn't feel right, just leaving him there.]
no subject
You're right...
[He takes a step in the direction of the house he had taken up in.]
Adam? What was I saying to you before?
no subject
You were talking about sin and redemption.
[And it's a little alarming that Hakkai doesn't remember - though Adam supposes it should be a surprise. He did seem... not quite himself.]
You don't remember?
no subject
I...don't, no. That's not the best sign, is it?
[His brows knit just slightly before he gives Adam the slightest of smiles.]
Please get home safely, Adam.
no subject
[And that's pretty much a dismissal, but - well, he's still concerned. He pauses for a moment.]
Is there anything I can do to help?
no subject
[He looks down at his blood-stained hands.]
Don't let me hurt anyone.
no subject
I can try.
