What: The event log for the Fadeout event!
Where: All around the city
When: November 15th-November 25th
Warnings: None!

The morning of November the 15th seems rather normal- that is, if you can avoid the glowing cracks in the fabric of reality tucked away among various streets. Still, they don't really seem to be doing much of anything and you can't quite see through them, so maybe they're decoration? This wouldn't be the first time the gods pulled some weird shit to shake things up around here.

By midafternoon, however, something changes. Cecily, in all her wisdom, decides to attempt to dispel one of these rifts, and the resulting shockwave sends tremors through the city. Tears throughout Hadriel open wider and allow for various demons to burst through and terrorize the various citizens. Demons will be tearing through in all corners of the city, though you can choose to avoid them if you like.

Look out for Pride and Rage demons, who attempt to brute force their way to you and feed off of your anger, steel yourselves against Despair and Fear demons who grow stronger as you give up hope, and definitely cross the street to avoid the Desire demons, who can take either male or female forms and will offer you everything you want if you just let them in.

Demons will either focus on attacking you or tempting you by taking advantage of and feeding off of your basic emotions. Agreeing to let a demon help you and mentally folding to it generally means that the demon will begin to possess you and start calling the shots- often using you as a vessel to hurt others and sow discord. If you happen to have any sort of magical abilities, extended possession can lead toward becoming an abomination after the corruption takes root.

So... you might want to avoid all of that. Luckily, there are some good things happening that can distract you- along with the demons, several nugs and fennec foxes will also pop up around the city, and if you don't want them to die a horrible death to a hungry demon, you might consider adopting them. In addition, you may find a random potion laying around- maybe this can help you fight off those demons, or maybe it'll make every nug in the city love you- or maybe it's secretly a jar of bees. Wouldn't be the first time you guys let bees in jars get a little out of hand.

[She's almost not snapped out of it for a second, still trying to place the fact that Undyne's here, and she tries to explain.]

No, it's okay, it's actually oh my god.

[And one turn of the head to Ahsoka breaks it, and HAHA THAT'S NOT UNDYNE. Alphys immediately recoils, almost tripping over her own tail.]

T-That's not Undyne, oh god, I'm sorry, I didn't-- she didn't look like that, uh, a f-few seconds ago!

[ oh, thank the force. with alphys startled, it's easier for ahsoka to direct her, to make sure that she's going to be alright. ]

Get behind me. [ not that alphys actually has to do much with that order, because as soon as the desire demon realizes it has to up its game, it starts moving toward them. and that, naturally, is ahsoka's cue to jump in between them, thumbing her lightsabers on. one gets held at an angle in front of her, defensive, while she angles the other out at her side, ready to use it to counterattack if necessary.

she glances back, looking for alphys' face. ]

You're not hurt, are you?

[Alphys doesn't even really move much, because as soon as she goes to Ahsoka is in front of her, and she almost grabs onto her waist before realizing ok, that's weird, that's too weird and gripping her hands together instead.]

N-No, I'm fine, I just-- s-she didn't look like that, before. I'm so sorry, I should've ran, now you have to f-fight, oh gosh.

[God, how could she really think that was just Undyne standing around. How is she so stupid.]

Eh. I was probably gonna fight her anyway.

[ she makes it sound incredibly casual and light, given the situation. maybe it'll help to put alphys at ease. if nothing else, it puts ahsoka herself in a better frame of mind to deal with the demon. she doesn't approach or attack outright, keeping her distance and trying to get ahsoka's attention instead- reminding her that she's led a lonely life for years now, reminding her that most of the desire in her existence has mostly been idle wishing.

and, well... screw that. ahsoka would much rather fight.

before the desire demon can figure out exactly how to get to her, she darts forward, lashing her shorter lightsaber against the demon's side, dragging it up and leaving a line of scorched flesh where the weapon trailed. the past few days have proven these things resistant to her lightsabers, but not immune, so she knows that all she has to do is keep her attack up. and keep alphys safe. the battle isn't a necessarily quick one, but ahsoka is aggressive, a blur of her white blades and the demon's more colourful magical attacks.

hopefully alphys isn't squeamish, because the demon loses both arms with a growl of frustration from the togruta before she manages to get a killing blow in. if ahsoka's learned anything about demons, it's that they suffer as greatly from lost limbs as anything else. ]

[This is, bar none, the coolest moment in Alphys' entire life.

As soon as Ahsoka moves first, her little hands ball together in excitement, eyes wide and trying to suppress the stars growing in them that, thankfully, Ahsoka isn't paying attention to. She keeps quiet at first, but when it looks like she needs help, Alphys is quick with a distraction or noise for the demon, or even just a "look out" when something particularly close swings by, and she straight-out cheers when the other woman lands the killing blow.]

That... t-that was amazing.

[ ahsoka has never been the type to fight for attention or glory, but if someone's watching, some part of her is still the cocky kid that wants to show off a little. if she can do it with style, why shouldn't she? and alphys is a great audience, so much so that by that little cheer of hers, ahsoka finds herself twirling to pose a moment, grinning as she draws her blades in close to her and then flicks them off. ]

No sweat, see?

[ what little niggling irritation the desire demon had managed to leave her with is entirely forgotten now, replaced by the satisfaction of protecting someone so obviously grateful and impressed. ]

[For a second, Alphys can't help but remember watching Undyne train, the flurry of precise movement with her spears that would send any opponent running, and she can feel her soul clench. It's no wonder the demon caught her so easily- Alphys misses her, deeply, but... at least she has another savior, just for now.]

You must have b-been training for years to be that practiced. You d-didn't even get hit once!

Natural ability comes in handy there.

[ the force, she means, but sometimes it's easier not to dwell on explaining that. alphys will have a billion questions about it when it does come out, so ahsoka has to be ready to field them all. ]

But I couldn't have been more than six or seven when I started learning how to fight. It's been a while.

That's still a-amazing. Undyne always said she could use magic to f-feel shifts in-- I mean, uhm. A friend of mine, uh, she's also a warrior. Guardsman. Guardswoman. Uhm.

[Why did she mention Undyne out loud god help her.]

It's still, uhm, really great. Thank you. For, uhm, s-saving me.

She sounds like a great woman. [ and although now ahsoka is curious about what that magic is and what alphys' friend can sense with it, wondering if it's at all like the force, she parks her questions for now. ]

You're welcome, Alphys. I couldn't let you get possessed, now could I?

She is.

[And she misses her. She thought, for a moment, they could spend time together here, that she hadn't lost her forever, but... maybe not. Maybe that's her punishment for being in this place. To see her again and again and again and never really break their cyclical orbit, just touching once at each moment, never quite connecting.]

But, s-still, thank you. I mean, for being here at the, uh, right time and, uhm, everything. I'll t-try not to get into more trouble, if I can.

[ that earns a chuckle from ahsoka as she shakes her head. ]

Yeah, if you can. How about I walk you wherever you need to go?

[She blushes. It's... still the right answer, though, because trouble always does seem to find her.]

Well, uhm, t-thank you. I appreciate it.

[She smiles, and it's as genuine as she can make it.]

[ when ahsoka smiles, there's something unnaturally peaceful and reassuring about it, like maybe she's leaning on the force a little bit to convince alphys that this is fine, she's happy to help. and mostly just happy she came to the rescue in time.

she tips her head to one side to indicate going, even if she doesn't know yet where alphys is heading. ]

Come on. Let's get going. Get you somewhere safe.

[Augh, god, her smile is ethereal. This is so much. This is too much.

She's too much like Undyne for this to be okay.]

O-Okay. Let's go.
