Event Log: Fadeout

Who: Everyone participating in the event!
What: The event log for the Fadeout event!
Where: All around the city
When: November 15th-November 25th
Warnings: None!

The morning of November the 15th seems rather normal- that is, if you can avoid the glowing cracks in the fabric of reality tucked away among various streets. Still, they don't really seem to be doing much of anything and you can't quite see through them, so maybe they're decoration? This wouldn't be the first time the gods pulled some weird shit to shake things up around here.

By midafternoon, however, something changes. Cecily, in all her wisdom, decides to attempt to dispel one of these rifts, and the resulting shockwave sends tremors through the city. Tears throughout Hadriel open wider and allow for various demons to burst through and terrorize the various citizens. Demons will be tearing through in all corners of the city, though you can choose to avoid them if you like.

Look out for Pride and Rage demons, who attempt to brute force their way to you and feed off of your anger, steel yourselves against Despair and Fear demons who grow stronger as you give up hope, and definitely cross the street to avoid the Desire demons, who can take either male or female forms and will offer you everything you want if you just let them in.

Demons will either focus on attacking you or tempting you by taking advantage of and feeding off of your basic emotions. Agreeing to let a demon help you and mentally folding to it generally means that the demon will begin to possess you and start calling the shots- often using you as a vessel to hurt others and sow discord. If you happen to have any sort of magical abilities, extended possession can lead toward becoming an abomination after the corruption takes root.

So... you might want to avoid all of that. Luckily, there are some good things happening that can distract you- along with the demons, several nugs and fennec foxes will also pop up around the city, and if you don't want them to die a horrible death to a hungry demon, you might consider adopting them. In addition, you may find a random potion laying around- maybe this can help you fight off those demons, or maybe it'll make every nug in the city love you- or maybe it's secretly a jar of bees. Wouldn't be the first time you guys let bees in jars get a little out of hand.

► This log covers November 15th-November 25th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If you are murdered by a demon, become an abomination, turn your insides to sludge with a potion, or just throw yourself from a rooftop to end it all, please let us know here!

[This woman is carrying Alphys like she's nothing, and she silently thanks whoever might be listening that monsters don't have hearts and therefore her heart isn't beating wildly like a shoujo anime meet-cute right about now. But hearing her speak with certainty just makes her think of Undyne again, and she has to suppress a scream. Thankfully, it's easy to keep her mind off being carried, seeing as she's facing a bunch of literal demons, and their commotion is only likely to draw more.

She does, however, recognize that Rey said something a few seconds after she says it, and nods, then sputters out an actual answer after realizing she can't see her.]

O-Okay. Be, uh, be careful?

[Being "careful" isn't exactly Rey's strong suit on her own. When it's someone else on the line, however, things change.

[Squeezing Alphys, tucked under her arm, Rey charges towards the side of a building. Before launching herself at the wall. One foot kicks at the surface. Then the other lands on a crate placed next to the alleyway floor. Her feet bouncing off one side of a building to the other. Until she grasps the ledge of the store roof with her free hand.

[With a swing, she hurls Alphys over her head. Swift motions sending the lizard lady onto the flat rooftop to land either gracefully or not, while she herself hangs over the side for now.]

[Oh god. Oh god they're on the ground and then absolutely not. It's graceful, soaring, weightlessness--

Wait. She's literally flying. She is going through the air. And the floor is coming up awfully fast.

She lands with a rather inarticulate thump on her side, her tail thankfully allowing her to stand up easier without dropping after the impact. She flew! Well, she crashed. But close enough! She smiles, looking around for her savior, and squints a bit when she sees nothing... until the hand. Ohgod. She squeaks, scrambling towards the edge.]

Here, ohmygosh, take my hand, d-don't fall!

[She's not even in the ballpark of being as strong as Rey, but she carries heavy robot parts around just fine- she could manage a lifting sprint, as it were.]

[By her firm grip of the rooftop, Rey isn't plummeting anytime soon. And unless Alphys can manage anything over 300lbs, she doesn't swing her entire weight into her offered hand. Rather, she uses it to support her balance while she pulls herself up with her other arm. Muscles straining but effortlessly hauling her weight over the ledge, toward the platform atop the shop. Her feet kick the wall, helping to pull herself over and collapsing onto the roof with little grace.

[After a few seconds, she gathers her nerves and drags herself back onto her feet, glancing over the ledge. The chasing demons seem to be attempting to pursue them farther down the street, rather than above. When one starts to deviate towards the alleyway, Rey steps back to avoid being seen.]

We'll be fine. [Some assurance never hurts, right?]

[She's lucky if she could reliably carry 100 pounds, but at least Rey's not dangling off a rooftop, so that's a better start, all things considered. Once she's up, Alphys backs away, trying to give her some space, though anxiously peering at her and over towards the edge.]

That's, uhm, I mean... t-thank you. Are you h-hurt, or, uhm, anything? I mean, I hope not. You seem ok. But that was also, uh, really f-fast! And probably complicated.

... And that was, uhm, a l-long way to ask if you're alright. And. Stuff.

[Swing and a miss. Her anxiety is creeping up on her hard here, but she's trying to be as little of a goofball as possible when the threat of getting caught by demons is still very much imminent.]
circumitus: We know how you feel. (kid you're lost in the wheel)

[personal profile] circumitus 2016-12-29 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
[And stuff.

[If Rey has any inkling on how anxious Alphys is, she doesn't seem to show it. Or care, for that matter. She's more preoccupied with scoping the layout of the area. Studying for the most efficient escape route.]

Am fine. Should probably stick to the roofs for as long as we can, until we're close to your place.

[While Alphys doesn't exactly appear to be a nimble sort, it should be no question now that Rey has little trouble carrying the extra weight.]

[Well, that's nice for something, considering Alphys is an anxious mess 99% of the time with an unfortunate lack of understatement on that statistic. She's still nervously looking over the lip of the roof, but pulls back when Rey speaks.]

Oh, uhm, well, y-yes. That sounds like it would be the least, uhm, dangerous thing. Because, uhm, we are s-somehow in a position where, uh, jumping on rooftops is more safe than walking. On t-the ground.

[She's not panicking you're panicking ooohnmygod. She adjusts her glasses just for something to do with her hands.]

Well, uhm, I'm not sure exactly, uh, the direction we're s-supposed to be going from here, but uhm, this place isn't, uh, incredibly big, so, uhm, can't be that hard, right?
