Event Log: Fadeout

Who: Everyone participating in the event!
What: The event log for the Fadeout event!
Where: All around the city
When: November 15th-November 25th
Warnings: None!

The morning of November the 15th seems rather normal- that is, if you can avoid the glowing cracks in the fabric of reality tucked away among various streets. Still, they don't really seem to be doing much of anything and you can't quite see through them, so maybe they're decoration? This wouldn't be the first time the gods pulled some weird shit to shake things up around here.

By midafternoon, however, something changes. Cecily, in all her wisdom, decides to attempt to dispel one of these rifts, and the resulting shockwave sends tremors through the city. Tears throughout Hadriel open wider and allow for various demons to burst through and terrorize the various citizens. Demons will be tearing through in all corners of the city, though you can choose to avoid them if you like.

Look out for Pride and Rage demons, who attempt to brute force their way to you and feed off of your anger, steel yourselves against Despair and Fear demons who grow stronger as you give up hope, and definitely cross the street to avoid the Desire demons, who can take either male or female forms and will offer you everything you want if you just let them in.

Demons will either focus on attacking you or tempting you by taking advantage of and feeding off of your basic emotions. Agreeing to let a demon help you and mentally folding to it generally means that the demon will begin to possess you and start calling the shots- often using you as a vessel to hurt others and sow discord. If you happen to have any sort of magical abilities, extended possession can lead toward becoming an abomination after the corruption takes root.

So... you might want to avoid all of that. Luckily, there are some good things happening that can distract you- along with the demons, several nugs and fennec foxes will also pop up around the city, and if you don't want them to die a horrible death to a hungry demon, you might consider adopting them. In addition, you may find a random potion laying around- maybe this can help you fight off those demons, or maybe it'll make every nug in the city love you- or maybe it's secretly a jar of bees. Wouldn't be the first time you guys let bees in jars get a little out of hand.

Next time.

[She repeats it with the smallest of smiles. The wear and tear on Cecily is far from lost on her, and while she cannot be accused of being an optimist she knows the value of having something more pleasant within your sight. In this case, a more peaceful 'next time' will have to do.

Closing the rifts is important enough that she intends to follow until rest becomes necessary... or until they discover a rift that will pull them through it rather than spit demons out at them. Before they move on, though, she pauses.]

Your hand. Is there pain?

[Inquisitor Cadash did not mind answering her questions but did not often speak of the mark otherwise.]

Ah, you know. [ beat ] No. [ Another pause, accompanied by a dramatic sigh as she shakes the hand out, briefly. ] Cullen - Commander Cullen was able to dull some of it with his abilities, but he's since left.

[ So, the answer is yes. Yes, it does hurt. ]

I can manage. [ Cecily adds quickly, airily. ] There are worse things than a stinging palm.

[ If it kills her, it won't be in Hadriel, either, so... there isn't that to worry about. ]

[Her eyebrows rise slightly, but she supposes she should not be surprised to hear of yet another person from Thedas here. Or that he was here, and never before would she have imagined feeling envious of the Inquisition's Commander. Yet here she is, full of nothing but envy for the space of a heartbeat. What did he do, she wonders, to leave this place. What secret did the templar unravel that she has not?]

A sentiment I share. Should that change, however, I will help if I can.

[Cecily's answer is, of course, a bit at odds with the admission that templar abilities did something to dull it, but for now she merely extends the offer. There are more demons to face, other rifts to close. She has barely taken two steps when a sweetly sultry voice comes from behind them.]

How touching. [The desire demon says, and when faced smiles the way a lover might and steps closer.] Alliances forged in dire circumstances, in the loneliest of places. Perhaps I can help as well.

Thank you. [ Morrigan is practical and not overbearing and the Inquisitor is grateful. She's considering expressing that sentiment in some way as they begin to move, but another demon stops them short before long.

She can't help but admit a loud sigh in response. ]

Andraste's tits. [ Cecily grumbles, unslinging her bow from her back again to raise to the demon. ] Nobody's lonely here, all right? You've got the wrong crowd for that speech.

[ The demon merely smiles, still, seemingly unafraid of the two women. ]

But the circumstances are dire, are they not? Neither of you wish to stay in this place... let me help you. You know that I can find a way to grant that desire, to help you both to escape...

[ Despite herself, she thinks of Cullen (gone) and Dorian and Rainier, of being alone in a place where no one recognizes her. Her heart speeds up, but she raises the bow and sets an arrow, eyes sharp. ]

You'll really have to try harder to convince us.
