Event Log: Fadeout

Who: Everyone participating in the event!
What: The event log for the Fadeout event!
Where: All around the city
When: November 15th-November 25th
Warnings: None!

The morning of November the 15th seems rather normal- that is, if you can avoid the glowing cracks in the fabric of reality tucked away among various streets. Still, they don't really seem to be doing much of anything and you can't quite see through them, so maybe they're decoration? This wouldn't be the first time the gods pulled some weird shit to shake things up around here.

By midafternoon, however, something changes. Cecily, in all her wisdom, decides to attempt to dispel one of these rifts, and the resulting shockwave sends tremors through the city. Tears throughout Hadriel open wider and allow for various demons to burst through and terrorize the various citizens. Demons will be tearing through in all corners of the city, though you can choose to avoid them if you like.

Look out for Pride and Rage demons, who attempt to brute force their way to you and feed off of your anger, steel yourselves against Despair and Fear demons who grow stronger as you give up hope, and definitely cross the street to avoid the Desire demons, who can take either male or female forms and will offer you everything you want if you just let them in.

Demons will either focus on attacking you or tempting you by taking advantage of and feeding off of your basic emotions. Agreeing to let a demon help you and mentally folding to it generally means that the demon will begin to possess you and start calling the shots- often using you as a vessel to hurt others and sow discord. If you happen to have any sort of magical abilities, extended possession can lead toward becoming an abomination after the corruption takes root.

So... you might want to avoid all of that. Luckily, there are some good things happening that can distract you- along with the demons, several nugs and fennec foxes will also pop up around the city, and if you don't want them to die a horrible death to a hungry demon, you might consider adopting them. In addition, you may find a random potion laying around- maybe this can help you fight off those demons, or maybe it'll make every nug in the city love you- or maybe it's secretly a jar of bees. Wouldn't be the first time you guys let bees in jars get a little out of hand.

A blaster bolt struck her thigh and Ahsoka found herself promptly on her ass, effectively knocked off balance by Hux's shot. And then she was moving again without any hesitation or recovery, one hand going behind her to use fingers splayed around her to push up, all her weight on her uninjured leg as she lunged to her feet and toward the despair demon. She was finishing this, with both of them, now.

The demon attacked again and Ahsoka deflected two long shards of ice in a row at Hux - the first to his head, the second to his chest - while she closed the distance between her and the inhuman monster so intent on drowning her in the darkest thoughts in her mind. Two quick slices later and the demon was without arms. With a third, she lost her head, Ahsoka flicking her fingers to send it flying with the Force back to land in Hux's lap.

As the demon's dismembered body dropped to the ground, twitching, she settled into a defensive pose again, so distanced from her body that she was no longer visibly favouring her injured leg. It would hurt later, undoubtedly, but for now, the man so intent on shooting her had all her attention.

Hux smirked, pleased with himself as he watched Ahsoka fall. He knew it would take more than that to keep her down and he was ready when she sprung to her feet once more. He didn't have time to think of what he would do next as two shards of ice were flying right towards him. He barely managed to dodge one which left a long, clean gash across his cheek. The other was more difficult and it hit him practically straight on, knocking the wind from him.

The demon slammed into him hard, making him gasp. Thankfully the demon wasn't heavy and once he caught his breath he started to shove it off of him. He shook his head as he pulled himself to his feet, blood dripping down his cheek, running down his neck.

He brushed off his greatcoat as he looked at her, blaster in hand. "Your leg must hurt," he remarked calmly despite the fact that he knew that she could still strike him down. "So is this when you kill me then?"

She wanted to kill him. Ahsoka had to admit that much to herself as she found her body moving of its own accord, stepping over the demon to be within lightsaber's reach of Hux. She didn't think about raising her mainhand weapon to his neck, with the clean, sharp end of its white beam illuminating his face and likely heating his skin. It was just there, waiting for her to take the last motion required to kill him the same way she had the demon.

But there would be no point. Hope would bring him back. It wouldn't do anything but put unnecessary blood on her hands and take this monster out of commission for a few days. And Ahsoka liked to think she better than petty murder. He wasn't a real threat, despite what the pain in her leg told her. Because he wasn't, at the end of the day. He'd be no match for her in a fight to the death.

"No," she said evenly, eventually. "I have better things to do."

So she wasn't going to kill him. Instead, she thumbed her shoto off and let her fingers flex around the hilt as she raised her hand to gesture, using the invisible hand of the Force to grab him roughly by the neck and throw him into the nearest hard, uneven cave wall. It wasn't a gentle toss, but hard enough to knock him out, hard enough to hurt.

She was a better person than a petty murderer, but that didn't necessarily mean she was a perfect one.
