[ It's hazy, but Lunafreya swears she hears the voice of King Regis.

It cannot be so; she had been there during his final moments in the Citadel. She had seen his regal, handsome face, blurred behind the barrier he had erected to protect her and Nyx from their pursuer. She had seen Glauca's approach even as he bid her to spirit the Ring of the Lucii to Noctis. She had seen the fight he put up against the monstrous general, and she had seen him fall.

She still saw him sometimes, in her dreams, the memory of him torturing her and causing her to awaken with tears in her eyes. Luna knows that the pain she feels is likely nothing in the face of Noctis', but that doesn't change the way her heart practically aches at the mere mention of the late King of Lucis. It's because of this that Lunafreya's throat constricts when his voice reaches her ears, gentle as it says her name. Her dreams of him had simply been infinite playbacks of that terrible night in the Citadel; there had been no spiritual visitations of any sort as she slept. Never once has he addressed her directly when she had seen him in dreams, and the fact that he is doing so now makes her wonder if she has finally, finally made it to the Beyond after all.

No. No, that is unacceptable. Lunafreya had vowed to return Noctis to Eos from this strange world, and the thought of leaving him alone with no one to support him causes her to blearily claw through the darkness of her unconsciousness. Her eyes snap open as she takes a sharp, wheezing breath, the air catching in her dry throat and causing her to choke. The pain she feels is immediate and devastating, her lips parting in a silent groan as the wound at her side serves as testament to the fact that she's still alive.

She's almost grateful for the pain in this sense, but the look of wonder and confusion that splits her features at the sight of Regis demonstrates that she's found something else to be thankful for. ]

Your... Your Majesty, [ She breathes, and heat stings her eyes as she struggles to sit upright. Luna regrets the decision immediately, wincing. Seeing Noctis again had been bittersweet and wondrous, but seeing Regis is practically devastating. His assurances only serve to make her want to sob, but she sucks in a breath, holding her emotions as best she can. He's here, now, with her. With Noctis. ]

I... have fulfilled my duty, as you had bade, [ She begins, her voice quavering. That deep, delicious darkness that had held her in its grasp threatens her as she speaks, the thudding of her heart deafening in her ears as she struggles to focus on his face. ] I had hoped that you could rest easy... but... to see you again...

[ Tears begin to fall from the corners of her eyes even as they threaten to sink shut, her gaze moving from Regis to Noctis and back again. ] To see... the both of you... There is no greater happiness than this.

[ She manages a smile, her consciousness fading from the abrupt shock that Regis' presence had brought with it. The majority of her family is here now, and, selfishly, Lunafreya never wants to leave them again. Her breathing comes haltingly as she closes her eyes in spite of herself, the pain of her body overtaking her. ]
