Event Log: Dead Ringers

Who: Everyone participating in the event!
What: The event log for the Dead Ringers event!
Where: All around the city
When: January 16th-January 25th
Warnings: Evil doubles, so we can assume manipulation, violence, murder, and maybe some nasty words

Everything seems normal on the morning of the 16th - actually, everything seems normal about the city for the entirety of this event. Nothing is strange, nothing is obviously wrong. Well, except that the population has mysteriously doubled, and the new residents each look exactly like one of the old residents. So weird! Definitely not ominous at all.

At least until your new double gets down to business. After all, their only goal is to ruin your life, and that can take any form. Smashing your favorite coffee cup? Telling your worst enemy they're right? Kissing someone else in front of your girlfriend? Brutally murdering you and then hiding your body in a closet so they can more effectively destroy your life? The possibilities are truly endless, and the only way to protect yourself is to kill your double first. They're not really open to negotiation, after all - but they sure might pretend to be in order to trick you.

So watch your back, and try to make sure that really is your best friend and not an evil clone masquerading as them. Boy, that would be awkward. If you can stick it out until January 25th, good for you! But if you didn't manage to and your double survives until the end - well, just as a final 'fuck you', there's a chance you'll come back to life and remember every awful thing your double did. Hey, at least that'll make it easier to fix, right?

He came over, we talked, got a little sweaty. [ she raises her eyebrows at him. it sounds much more promiscuous than it actually is. ]

And then I didn't jump him because I have apparently and unfortunately developed some sense of morals. [ she sighs, and bites at her lower lip. ] He's so hot. And nice. I don't want to fuck things up.

Why do you think that would fuck things up?

[connor asks, knowing 100% full well how that would fuck things up. for further reference, please see his to-do list for this event.]

There's so much that could go wrong. This is not a normal situation. This is not nice lady means nice guy at a coffee shop and they get to know each other. I can't even think of a way this would approach normal.

[ she frowns. ] Having a normal relationship is not really anything I'm experience in and Matt doesn't strike me as a fuck buddies kind of guy.

[he blinks, like he's stepped over the line accidentally, like this was just a drunken misstep. like he doesn't mean it.

Honestly, I wouldn't be that concerned. He said he hasn't had a real girlfriend in a long time.

[ Cashmere's taken completely off-guard by the accusation, and after a moment of stunned silence she laughs it off, because there's no way Connor would say that and not be joking. or trying to joke. it's not super hilarious. besides, she hasn't told him about what happened after the Games. Connor wouldn't call her a slut if he knew that she'd been sold to the Capitol's wealthiest. it still hurts a little, and she tries to not linger on it. ]

No, and not funny.

Girlfriend or not it doesn't mean he wants me to throw myself him. [ as a joke, she adds: ] Unless he told you different.

[connor just shrugs]

It's hard to say with him. He definitely like the idea of fighting with you, though.

[ she smirks. ] Yeah, we had fun. It's nice to find somebody who can keep up with me. Or kick my ass. I don't get that a lot.

So you guys are getting something out of it at least.

Yeah.

And maybe he'll get inspired by having his hands on me and I can whore it up. [ yep, not over it. she could just tell him it bothered her like an adult, or she can make passive aggressive jokes. guess which one Cashmere votes for! ] Maybe slutty is Matt's type.

[unfortunately for cashmere, two can play the PA game and connor's doppleganger is all for that]

[ she looks cross for a few moments, like she doesn't trust what he says. and then her expression softens. ]

[he's kind of surprised he hit such a nerve, really.]

they really need to stop having downer moments when they go out drinking.

[ she's not embarrassed, really, but she's aware that the information could potentially be used against her. that's not a worry she has with her bestie Connor, though. which is why she's going to explain. ]

After I won the Games at home, my company was in high demand. So I was available to purchase for anyone who had enough money.

[not a worry she has with her bestie connor, true. but that's not what she's dealing well. luckily (or unluckily) for her, he hasn't decided now is the time to play with that information. he knows how connor would respond, so he goes through the motions:]

[ she takes a deep breath, doing her best to take herself back to a happy, fun place. ]

Can we go back to drinking and having a good time? [ aaaand maybe she will just try and get away without apologizing. he started it! ]
