Event Log: Dead Ringers

Who: Everyone participating in the event!
What: The event log for the Dead Ringers event!
Where: All around the city
When: January 16th-January 25th
Warnings: Evil doubles, so we can assume manipulation, violence, murder, and maybe some nasty words

Everything seems normal on the morning of the 16th - actually, everything seems normal about the city for the entirety of this event. Nothing is strange, nothing is obviously wrong. Well, except that the population has mysteriously doubled, and the new residents each look exactly like one of the old residents. So weird! Definitely not ominous at all.

At least until your new double gets down to business. After all, their only goal is to ruin your life, and that can take any form. Smashing your favorite coffee cup? Telling your worst enemy they're right? Kissing someone else in front of your girlfriend? Brutally murdering you and then hiding your body in a closet so they can more effectively destroy your life? The possibilities are truly endless, and the only way to protect yourself is to kill your double first. They're not really open to negotiation, after all - but they sure might pretend to be in order to trick you.

So watch your back, and try to make sure that really is your best friend and not an evil clone masquerading as them. Boy, that would be awkward. If you can stick it out until January 25th, good for you! But if you didn't manage to and your double survives until the end - well, just as a final 'fuck you', there's a chance you'll come back to life and remember every awful thing your double did. Hey, at least that'll make it easier to fix, right?

Hey, good morning.

[yeah everything is 100% fine and perfect don't even worry about it matt... it's not like your actual roomie has been murdered and disposed of so truly this is not daredevil's business in the slightest.

but yes, connor is absolutely in a good mood. between murdering off his original quickly to sleeping around to being well on his way to fucking up whatever other friendships remain, connor's pretty proud of himself, all things considered.

it's a shame it won't last but he's gotta make the best of it while he can.]

[ Matt smiles. He's happy for Connor, mostly. Poor guy hasn't sounded this even since Matt's known him. That would probably be a red flag under any other circumstances but Matt's senses aren't picking up anything strange to Connor and Matt's senses are never wrong!! So. ]

Sure. I was just gonna grab coffee. [ But he can join Connor, no sweat. ]

Great. Sounds like my morning just got better.

[ Matt chuckles, grabbing himself a cup of coffee and sitting down beside Connor. Flirting isn't all that strange, Matt's heard Connor flirt with other people plenty of times. It's not exactly bad or anything. ]

So, how's it going? Things finally looking up?

[he smiles at matt - all warm and honest.]

I've been so caught up in my head all this time, so unwilling to be myself. [this is about the sex.] But I'm happier now, not trying to fight myself at every turn.

[ It's definitely about the sex. Matt doesn't need super senses to know that. ]

That's good. It sounds like you really found some clarity in all this.

[connor smiles, ducking his head a little bit. it's a nice touch. it's pretty much what the original connor would do, if matt were so overtly complimenting him like this.

[ Matt's laugh this time is more than a little awkward. Oh god, Connor's serious.

This is new. Matt flushes bright red. ]

[and there it is - the thing original connor was so sure of. it's a little too bad, since double connor knows all about how this whole "matt is so straight thing" has been an excuse of a bandaid holding down a hope that things were going to shake out otherwise but oh well.]

[ Matt just blushes harder. Wow, this is not how he wanted to have this conversation with Connor. ]

[ Waste your time with Matt, who is awful and thinks that he doesn't deserve nice things, obviously. But mainly the friend thing. That too. ]

[connor holds up his hands in a surrendering gesture]

[ He's just fucking this up, of course. ]
