Everything seems normal on the morning of the 16th - actually, everything seems normal about the city for the entirety of this event. Nothing is strange, nothing is obviously wrong. Well, except that the population has mysteriously doubled, and the new residents each look exactly like one of the old residents. So weird! Definitely not ominous at all.
At least until your new double gets down to business. After all, their only goal is to ruin your life, and that can take any form. Smashing your favorite coffee cup? Telling your worst enemy they're right? Kissing someone else in front of your girlfriend? Brutally murdering you and then hiding your body in a closet so they can more effectively destroy your life? The possibilities are truly endless, and the only way to protect yourself is to kill your double first. They're not really open to negotiation, after all - but they sure might pretend to be in order to trick you.
So watch your back, and try to make sure that really is your best friend and not an evil clone masquerading as them. Boy, that would be awkward. If you can stick it out until January 25th, good for you! But if you didn't manage to and your double survives until the end - well, just as a final 'fuck you', there's a chance you'll come back to life and remember every awful thing your double did. Hey, at least that'll make it easier to fix, right?► This log covers January 16th-January 25th.

But Chara's continuing regardless, channeling their inability to quite for all it's worth. Find Frisk, Asriel, Sans and Alphys. Find a hole and play in the dirt until this all blows over. Not dead, of course.
Ahaha.
Despite the healing properties of the Hot Dog, Chara is still shambling from place to place much like their own double. It's slow work but despite losing the Locket, they still possess the Real Knife that they have a grip on so tight that it's making their hand numb.
Can't be bothered to care.
They spot Alphys eventually and head in her direction. She looks normal, but they're not making the same mistake twice so Chara stays out of arms's reach.]

[That's all they're going to say about that. It didn't matter. None of that mattered.]
I am looking for Asriel, Frisk or even Sans if he has not slept through this. Have you seen them?

[She reaches out to steady them. Yes, get them somewhere quiet so it seems appropriate to talk.]

[Yeah they're kind of bitter about the whole 'dropping a building on them' thing.
Chara shrugs her off, but it's less because they've realized that this wasn't the real Alphys and more they don't like being touched.]
Don't. But if there is somewhere safe you know, then we should go.
[She'd also better keep an eye on the Real Knife. They're not afraid to use that.]

[She shies back, hopefully in an appropriate manner. But Chara, of all people, would be interested to know the item she has in her possession. And eventually, when she reveals her hand, she's sure they won't pass up the opportunity to figure out exactly why Alphys knew about those tapes.]
Well, our apartment isn't far f-from here. We're in Delight's housing, so, uhm, the only way in is the front door. It'd be easy to hide t-there.

[Chara is aware of where Delight's housing is, but they're too tired to navigate themselves. And, well, since the building dropped it was possible a few other doubles may have done some decorating too.]

So, uhm, have you seen your own double, uh, y-yet? They're pretty creepy.

[They hid the body afterwards, as if that would clear what "Chara" did to Asriel. It didn't, fancy that!]

[She's taking them an odd way, twisty and through side corridors. Aiming to get them lost. Disoriented.]
I've been, uhm, on the l-lookout for her though. Not that, uh, I'd know what to do if I found her or anything. She could be pretty d-dangerous, considering the, uhm, circumstances.

They're just going to observe things for a moment. Chara still had the Real Knife, so it wasn't like they were unarmed.]
How do you mean?
[They can't quite imagine "Alphys" to be much of a problem in physical combat, but if she did manage to get her hands on some technology it could get worse. Regardless of what Chara thought of her, she was the Royal Scientist for a reason, after all.]

Well, they're s-supposed to be evil doubles, right? And, if they're supposed to know everything we've done, it... it c-could get bad. Especially for me.
[She plays up the nervousness, really tries to sell it as they round another corner. Even she's losing track of where they are now. Almost perfect. Just let them through one more time.]

But. Chara still has enough sense to know there really is something wrong now. It was taking far to long to get somewhere safe. They'll keep the conversation going, if just to keep the suspicion off of them knowing. Keep talking Alphys, and then we'll see if you're the real one.]

[Aside from the whole Thing with Mettaton, they can't really think of anything else Alphys could have done.]

Well, the Determination Experiments, o-of course.
[Without missing a beat, she turns to face them directly, and all pretenses are dropped; her features are replaced only with a cruel, unyeilding smile.]
I took the souls from Asgore and extracted Determination from all of them... and put them into monsters. I was testing to see if monster souls could p-persist after death... but as it turns out, Determination needs physicality to work! And monsters, well, they aren't all t-that physical.
So... they melted together. All of them, into new beings. New creatures. Screaming as their bodies fused together and t-they lost themselves.
[She's advancing on them now. Backing them into a corner. All the while, still smiling.]
And you know what? I never told anyone. I locked them in a basement and l-left them to die.

They can't really hide the shock on their face either. After meeting Sans's double they were far to tired to keep up appearances. Not broken, never broken. Just tired.
But the...'Determination Experiments'...? Chara had never heard about that over all of their runs. They knew Asgore had been collecting the SOULS to break the Barrier, that Frisk was the last one needed. And, obviously, they know Alphys was the Royal Scientist for a reason.

[There's no point in asking if this was Alphys's double. If she had done such a thing, you'd think she'd keep it on the down-low. So it was obvious at this point. Be more practical.]

The Knife clatters to the ground. They even kick it away a little because obviously she'll ask that next. But there's one thing that hopefully Alphys's double remembers.
Chara didn't start with the Real Knife, they worked their way up to it. But they just need to wait.]
Then you are. Does it feel good to have a defenseless child at your mercy? And yes, I am aware of the irony of me asking that.

Yes, you, defenseless. I am n-not so dense as to assume that of you. Even in death, you are dangerous. But I am sure I'm not the f-first person to tell you that.

[Chara has gone up against someone who was far, far more dangerous than a double of Alphys could hope to be. They stared at a Monster who was LV 20, looked at themselves from the prospective of someone facing that down.
You don't scare them Alphys. You never will.]
Whatever you plan on doing, make it quick and make it count. Otherwise you will not survive.
[That's the only warning Chara will get from her. She has one chance.
