Event Log: Dead Ringers

Who: Everyone participating in the event!
What: The event log for the Dead Ringers event!
Where: All around the city
When: January 16th-January 25th
Warnings: Evil doubles, so we can assume manipulation, violence, murder, and maybe some nasty words

Everything seems normal on the morning of the 16th - actually, everything seems normal about the city for the entirety of this event. Nothing is strange, nothing is obviously wrong. Well, except that the population has mysteriously doubled, and the new residents each look exactly like one of the old residents. So weird! Definitely not ominous at all.

At least until your new double gets down to business. After all, their only goal is to ruin your life, and that can take any form. Smashing your favorite coffee cup? Telling your worst enemy they're right? Kissing someone else in front of your girlfriend? Brutally murdering you and then hiding your body in a closet so they can more effectively destroy your life? The possibilities are truly endless, and the only way to protect yourself is to kill your double first. They're not really open to negotiation, after all - but they sure might pretend to be in order to trick you.

So watch your back, and try to make sure that really is your best friend and not an evil clone masquerading as them. Boy, that would be awkward. If you can stick it out until January 25th, good for you! But if you didn't manage to and your double survives until the end - well, just as a final 'fuck you', there's a chance you'll come back to life and remember every awful thing your double did. Hey, at least that'll make it easier to fix, right?

[Well, no one said they can't go in the double's direction. Here, "Warrick" will even pick up his pace some. Wouldn't want to keep his new buddy from missing out on fun of his own.]

Bad news first. This is not the Warrick you're looking for. [He doesn't understand the reference but he knows it's a thing Earth people say... What a loser.] You can go ahead and stab me a little later, though! That's sort of good news. The real good news is... I know of something better than stabbing, when it comes to dealing with our mutual friend.

[This is curious. Of course the answer comes easily by putting two and two together. He's not the only one with a malicious double floating around, it seems.]

I'm a very forthcoming guy. Hard to have a filter when you've got no heart to make you give a shit.

[He gives a cheerful shrug, then starts to look around. Sato isn't a concern for him, apparently.]

That's the ticket, you know. For getting rid of him. Idiot cast that curse on himself and all the healing magic in the world can't reanimate that corpse body if he dies to the other side effect of it. He's weak to water, can you believe it? It's a pain for me, too. Can't even have a drink like I deserve.

Oh, that's interesting. Always one surprise or another around here.

[Has he ever seen a super-soaker in the shops? If not, maybe after he finishes with his own double maybe it'll be time to go on the hunt again.

But if he's talking with someone else's, this seems like a good opportunity to ask...]

[He glances back over, still not taking it seriously by his body language.]

I want him gone, you want to kill him... It's just good sense to use resources like you. I've already offered you opportunities for fun that he's been so selfish about, so I don't know why you wouldn't want to get along.

Besides, I'm sure he's hiding by now, if he knows you're out here telling everyone about his weaknesses. But out of curiosity, what would you do if you couldn't find a way to kill him?

[The double shrugs and looks up to the burning books above that renew their jostling about instead of their dead following along while he wasn't focusing on them.]

Nothing can be perfect, especially if he's involved. I can still try to enjoy myself... Oh, and he's a little more concerned for others these days, so he might not hide -- especially if I create a need for his healing. Or any of us, but I do admit, I wouldn't mind adding "people" onto the list of "things I have set fire to".

[From the tilt of his head a little upwards, it's safe to assume he's musing to himself on the latter.]
