[The visions don't shatter around him. He isn't thrown back into himself in an instant, thrown back to his body, pain making him understand that this is where he ought to be. It isn't like that. It's more like waking up, a slow dawning of consciousness, slipping back into his body as Cabeswater's grip loosens. If the forest could be apologetic, perhaps it might be. It doesn't understand, the same way that Adam doesn't when he's scrying, that if he's gone for long enough he'll be gone forever. It doesn't know that it needs to give him back.

But it loves Ronan, and it has always given him everything he asks for. Ronan is not asleep, but he's asking anyway, and maybe it's because he's so close to Adam or maybe it's for some other reason, but Cabeswater is listening.

The visions get softer-edged, softer in every way, blood turning into water, branches turning to grass, the smell of trees after rain, mist and moss and the sound of animal feet against the warm, living earth. It fades away, almost easy, almost like waking from a dream, and Adam doesn't try to hold on to it. He can feel Cabeswater pulling away, and he doesn't know why, but it feels right. He doesn't resist.

He slowly becomes conscious of his body. His fingers, his hands, tingling almost as if they've fallen asleep. His shoulders, loose. Someone's - Ronan's - hands on his face, his lips on Adam's.

If he were more awake, maybe, he would freeze. He wouldn't know how to react, wouldn't know what to do. How are you supposed to react when you wake up to a kiss, like some kind of fairytale? What are you supposed to do when you've been thinking about something for weeks, months, and then it's happening? Adam is the type to overthink things, the type to let his thoughts and worries get in the way. That's why it's taken so long, after all. He would think that Ronan is doing this for expediency's sake, to wake him up, not because he really wants to kiss Adam. He'd think that it isn't even really a kiss, not really an expression of caring or desire, not something that an affection-starved lonely boy should take to heart.

But right now, he's not thinking. He's waking up, sliding back into his body as if it's a coat he can just put back on, and Ronan is kissing him. His chest moves suddenly, he pulls away enough to gasp a breath of air, and then without thinking he leans in again, presses his lips to Ronan's, clumsy and unpracticed but not uncertain.]
