Good morning, and welcome to your first day in Hadriel. Feel free to acquaint yourself with the other travelers who are starting to wake up around you- or explore your surroundings for maximum survival odds!
You may notice that there are a few metal boxes lying on the dirt ground around you. At first these boxes seem innocuous, with no locks or mechanisms to keep them closed. However, any attempt at opening these them reveals that, not only is there absolutely nothing inside of them, but they just so happen to be a handy-dandy Scream-in-a-box from that stupid old Nickelodeon commercial. One peek and it echoes with a loud, bursting scream... though, anyone who tries to use this box to keep themselves awake will only succeed in pissing their neighbors off, because infomercials only exist to lie to you.
If you're concerned about something a little more sinister... well, you're right to be. Lurking in the shadowy corridors of the arena are Cacodemons, from the Doom game series. These nightmarish monsters travel around the area by floating a few feet off the ground. They are capable of firing plasma at you from their mouths, and their sharp teeth speak for themselves. While they're easy to shove back when they're not firing at you, they have a tendency to converge on a single target. You think you can handle one? How about five? Good luck... and try not to melt on your way out.
Once you've managed your daring escape from the colosseum, feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers March 10th-13th.
► Feel free to make your own logs, as well!
► All characters now arrive with phones that have network communication.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
armory.
Seeing a scar-faced woman holding a rather large bastard sword probably isn't the best first impression one could have of her. When she speaks, however, there is an amicable impression in her apparent monotone: "Don't suppose you've any experience with any of these?"
She gestures to the other weapons with the sword in her hand.

Besides that, she has no idea what to look for here. Her eyes come on the daggers mostly. It's those she's looking at when the other woman speaks up.
Taking the invitation, Blue shakes her head. She reaches into her bag and pulls out a smaller switchblade with a pink hilt. "I've only used this, and not really with any knowledge. Just to try to make the sharp end get where it needs to be to keep the bad guys off me. And only once, then."
She lets out a heavy sigh and relaxes her stance, clearly not minding the conversation. "I don't think I can fight the kind of things that turn up in this place with this, though." Not that she regrets the switchblade. It's been useful to her in the past. She's actually fond of it.

"No, probably not. But you've the right idea, at least." About sticking the pointy end in whoever or whatever the hell is attacking you. Rey herself is more knowledgeable with knives than she is with most melee weapons.
Hoisting the sword up in the air, she gives the blade a once over. It's sharp, good enough to cut through some of the monsters here.
"Don't think it'd be much different from handling a knife. Just bigger."
Except no, not really.

Now if she could just turn it into real progress.
"It looks heavy," Blue comments. Not that Rey makes it look heavy. She seems to have a good grip. She lifts it high, almost easily. Blue can't help but think of how thin her own arms were. If she'd known she was coming to monster haven, she'd have tried harder in De Chima to learn more skills. Not that her new skills from that world are really up to par.
So she pulls out on the daggers, twisting it around in her hand. "Do you have a lot of experience with any of these kinds of weapons?" Is there a silent plea for hopefully?

"With knives, yes. Have training with close quarters combat which involves knowing how to handle a blade." She glances to the sword in her grip. "Think this requires a different sort of finesse, though."
Not that she doesn't plan on training herself to try. Fortunately, Rey is one to be able to pick up on new skills.

"I wouldn't really know the difference." She reaches into her pocket and takes out her switchblade. She was proud of the little blade before. That was before she had a need of it. Now she has a need of it, it's not really doing it's part anymore. Something she realized immediately, when you fight a monster? You don't want to get as close to it as a switchblade forces you to.
"This is all I've used," She frowns a bit, before pocketing it again. "It was great for humans, but I need something I can use to keep the monsters off my back." Because she'll be damned if she just lets the monsters overrun her life.

Rey takes a moment to check out the switchblade that Blue presents, before it's gone once more.
"You can always learn, and there are some here who are willing to teach. Am going to practice on how to use these properly, for instance." She hefts the sword in her hands.

Which she hopes pays off. She's not going to expect someone she's just met to teach her, but she could also learn a lot just from watching.

Blue not someone who would ask a stranger for help in training how to fight? Well, Rey's just given her an opening. It wouldn't be the first time Rey has helped someone else learn how to fight. (Whether or not those memories are real, she doesn't really know. When you've got the lives of eight different women in your head, things tend to get a little jumbled.)
