Good morning, and welcome to your first day in Hadriel. Feel free to acquaint yourself with the other travelers who are starting to wake up around you- or explore your surroundings for maximum survival odds!
You may notice that there are a few metal boxes lying on the dirt ground around you. At first these boxes seem innocuous, with no locks or mechanisms to keep them closed. However, any attempt at opening these them reveals that, not only is there absolutely nothing inside of them, but they just so happen to be a handy-dandy Scream-in-a-box from that stupid old Nickelodeon commercial. One peek and it echoes with a loud, bursting scream... though, anyone who tries to use this box to keep themselves awake will only succeed in pissing their neighbors off, because infomercials only exist to lie to you.
If you're concerned about something a little more sinister... well, you're right to be. Lurking in the shadowy corridors of the arena are Cacodemons, from the Doom game series. These nightmarish monsters travel around the area by floating a few feet off the ground. They are capable of firing plasma at you from their mouths, and their sharp teeth speak for themselves. While they're easy to shove back when they're not firing at you, they have a tendency to converge on a single target. You think you can handle one? How about five? Good luck... and try not to melt on your way out.
Once you've managed your daring escape from the colosseum, feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers March 10th-13th.
► Feel free to make your own logs, as well!
► All characters now arrive with phones that have network communication.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

Agent Maine | OPEN
He pushes himself to a seated position, then scrambles to his feet. The brute shot's within reach, so he grabs it, hoisting it in preparation of who the hell knows what as he scans the scene. A booted foot gets the box open with a precise nudge as he keeps the muzzle trained on it (it's too small for anything dangerous, anything but an explosive anyway, but then things you can't see are just as dangerous too, the emptiness behind his skull is plenty proof of that), and there's a SCREAM that bursts out of it that startles him for a moment, has his finger pressed tight against the trigger, letting off a short burst on reflex before he checks it because there's nothing there. Nothing inside, just a scream, and that's just unsettling.
Not that he has long to contemplate the implications, not when he catches movement out of the corner of his eye and finds a....giant orange spiked ball with a rolling eye floating towards him. He's seen plenty of weird things in his time, but so far they've all been people shaped, at least, and THAT? Well that would be plenty to set anybody off-balance.
He takes a step back, snarling under his breath, and fires at it. Hey, it's got to do something to it, right?]

Bianca times her approach carefully: she's learned enough in her month here to know she probably wouldn't be left dead, but that hardly constitutes a good reason to put herself in the way of the newcomer's gunfire. So she closes the distance while he shoots at the cacodemon, and adds in her own crossfire from her staser pistol.
She can introduce herself after it's dead.]

... At least, not until there's an ear curdling screech and a gunshot. Now that would get anyone's attention. She twists and dives over towards the source of the noise, a quickstepping blur of bright colour, noticing someone as she closed in. ] Oi, what was that?

Where did this guy come from? Because he clearly wasn't there before. And seeing him from a distance, she wonders if he has the better advantage regardless of limited ammunition. It would be best for him not to waste it. So she runs out as the creature gulps for air to regurgitate fire, striking it with her baton to stun it with millions of volts, then getting out of the way to give him the shot. ]

Pellaz | OTA
He doesn't recognize this place. There's are boxes and strangers littered throughout the space. There's movement in the shadows. The latter is the most worrying and so his attention is half on the darkness of the corridors as he waves his hand and opens the nearest box without touching it. Another scream that this time has him awkwardly climbing to his feet to back away, and the box slams shut. The empty box. ]
What on... [ Well he won't be doing that again.
Shaken, and with his attention still half on whatever's in the shadows, he makes his way to the nearest unconscious person and kneels down beside them to give a little nudge. ]
Hey. Are you alright? Wake up.
[ Nudge nudge. Is it you he's urging back to consciousness? Or are you going to be the one to warn him that there's a freakish floating single eyed creature emerging from the darkness behind him? ]
Re: Pellaz | OTA
[Bianca's voice is low and urgent, and she follows it up by firing her staser pistol at the cacodemon.]
The influx of strangers always seems to draw the monsters, I'm afraid. No doubt our hosts are watching somewhere, taking bets. I am Bianca - welcome.

makin up my own prompt like a boss
seeing an unfamiliar face stumbling through the streets is therefore not particularly weird, but peter finds himself stopping and staring at what has to be both the legitimately prettiest boy and/or most androgynously lovely girl he's ever seen and also the most human looking definitely not human thing he can think of. there's the etherial beauty of the upir, but without the accompanying harshness or chill. there's the inhumanness of shelley, but so much more human looking.
in short, this person has his balls in a state, and looks to be in some kind of state...himself? herself? themself? anyway, they're looking a little rough.]

he takes a breath, in and out, before standing. his gaze skims the ground around him as he brushes off his trousers, irritation in turn skimming his thoughts — the suit had cost a metaphorical bomb and now—. the boxes catch his attention for one, two, three moments, but he knows his myths, he doesn’t plan on being pandora; curiosity is, at times, better left unserved.
one hand (right) delves into a pocket seeking out an unfamiliar weight: a phone, loosely speaking — or, more tightly, what had been a phone a decade or more ago. only seconds later (feels like an eternity) he drops it back into the same pocket before finally (finally) giving his surroundings due attention:
there are people — others like him, perhaps? the thought is brief and floating, more interesting to consider than the contents of the many identical boxes strewn about — but his attention doesn't linger. it's when the screams start that he's wrenched away from his own considerations about the whys and the hows and the wheres; the screams that get to him (nothing he hasn't heard before, so really—), the—

Lastly: there is no protocol for what comes next. She'll have to decide on her own.
What a strange thought that is. She has no idea what to do with it.
In the meantime, Maketh sets out to explore again, hunting for supplies and updating her map. She stiffens at the touch, far too close to flinching, and claps her hand over the hilt of her sword. Reflex.
She doesn't draw the blade, though. Just straightens her back, breathes out through her nose, and tries to smile. Look friendly, keep your voice steady. Just like that.] I didn't see you. My apologies.

the winter soldier | open
[He was in the middle of a firefight. He had a mission, a target, and now he opens his eyes and all of that is gone, replaced by a large stone building, half in ruin. He looks around carefully, his rifle raised. There's people here, looking about as confused and out of place as he's trying not to feel.
He focuses.
There are boxes on the ground. There are creatures in the shadows. He has enough ammo to take on whatever those things are if he has to, but he doesn't know if he'll be able to get more after.
For that matter, he has no clue where he is.
He doesn't take the bait of the boxes, not at the moment, he'll watch and see what the others do. One of them will probably open something, and then he'll see if it's worth it to check for himself. For now, he's going to slowly walk the perimeter. The best way out appears to be through the ruined section, though it's possible there's doors out somewhere as well.
He starts to go looking, keeping an eye on the floating... whatevers in the shadows.]
the city
[Once he makes it out into the city, it's much the same. The goggled, masked soldier stalks the streets like a ghost, exploring as much of it as he can, trying to figure out where he is and how he can get out and get back to his mission.
But there's no sky, only the cavernous ceiling. The buildings are strange, and the city is... not completely abandoned, but certainly lacking in population.
It's all very, very strange.
And now he's starting to feel nervous, anxious that he may not be able to get back and complete his mission after all. And if he can't do that... then what?
He stares up at the ceiling, then pulls off his goggles and tucks them away to squint up at it better. He can't even see air shafts. What is this place?]
no subject
Dark hair spills over the front of a long, sand-colored cloak, out of which only the stranger's hands are visible. He's definitely whoever sent up the crystal, since he's making another one between his palms as he hits the intersection and looks around. He spots the soldier and hesitates at the mask, his footsteps slowing to a stop. Maybe this isn't someone he should approach, but... let it never be said that Pell makes good decisions. He heads the soldier's way. ]

one - network (jaime);
[Hiya, Hadriel. On the screen is a dark-haired teenage boy, but off the screen is a muffled screaming that just isn't stopping.
Jaime looks a little frazzled by this turn of events.] Hey! Uh, I'm new, and I suspect a lot of other people are, too, so for the people who have been around longer, is there anything we need to know that the gods haven't filled us in on yet? Whoops--
[The camera jars. Just as Jaime sinks lower, the screaming starts to come through more clearly. He mutters a swear under his breath and scrambles back onto the thing off-screen: apparently, he'd been sitting on top of the dumb box to keep it quiet. The poor kid looks back into the camera with a sheepish, apologetic look on his face.]
Also, please tell me we can turn these off.
two - action (blue beetle);
Watch out!
[Fortunately for Blue Beetle and whoever he's encountered, taking monsters out of commission is a little easier than yelling inanimate objects. Zipping in from above and darting out of the way of an advancing Cacodemon's plasma, he fires back with a bolt of bright blue light. The monster, stunned, wobbles away on a path to retreat-- just long enough for him to land. He might look a little like a monster himself to those unaccustomed to his alien appearance, but he's evidently here to help.
Also, he's a little short to be a towering arena beast. So there's that, too.
He extends a hand.]
Hey, are you okay? It's not safe in this area-- we should get out of here.

steve rogers | ota
[He must've drank the schnapps after all. His head feels fuzzy, and his body aches, but it's that last one that really brings him around. His body always aches, and he'd thought...Steve frowns. There was supposed to be procedure, and Steve was going to be changed by it. He doesn't exactly know all the details on how. Dr. Erskine gave him a chance and he jumped at it, but he's pretty sure the result wasn't meant to be this.
Steve grits his teeth as he pushes himself up. Something went wrong, and he doesn't have the slightest idea where he is. His heart is pounding in his chest, but he holds it together well on the outside. He's not about to go running and screaming-
Steve's hands fly to his ears when his boot accidentally flips one of the nearby boxes open. The sound that comes out of it is terrifying, a cross between a screaming woman and a falling bomb. But it attracts something even worse. Steve starts at the thing that's floating in his direction. His ma always told him that staring was rude, but he doesn't think she meant something like this.
It's getting closer, and those aren't the teeth of a gentle creature. Those teeth are sharp, made to bite and tear flesh, and he doesn't have enough of either to satisfy. Steve starts crawling away, but less to save himself and more to reach the prone figure of someone else.]
Hey. [Steve shakes them gently, eyes still on the approaching monster.] Wake up, we gotta go!
[He curses softly, about to slide a stranger's arm around his skinny shoulders. He takes a deep breath. He's a soldier. He can do this.]
the city:
[Steve doesn't look like someone who should've made it out of the colosseum alive. But he probably shouldn't have survived boot camp either, or that fever last winter, or that time he told that Kelly bully to shut his trap. The odds have been stacked against him every day, it's only a little bit worse here.
He explores the city, sticks to the main roads and wisely avoids the alleyways. Currently he can't stop looking at the ceiling overhead, the rock and shadows. Steve stops for a minute, tired but still on his feet.]
It ain't the Sistine Chapel, that's for sure.
the city
Needs must, in the end. She's trying not to be overly sentimental these days. Maketh steps out of a shattered door-frame, and pauses. There's a man standing in the middle of the road, looking up towards their false sky. Not a very tall man, through dressed in what looks like a military uniform. Maketh swings the bag over her shoulder, hands clasped smartly behind her back.
Stand at attention, make a good first impression.]

Veek. Open
She's wheezing badly as she staggers into the road, and her glasses are filthy and askew. Her white oxford is smeared with dirt, front and back, and a little blood running down one sleeve.
The first person she sees, she demands, panting, trying to pat down for her inhaler, in case. But no, it feels like it's passing.
"What- what the fuck?"
She's going to live- where ever the hell she is.

Chris catches sight of her at about the same time as she speaks to him and is instantly concerned, enough so that he decides answering her question isn't the most important thing.

Glacius | New Arrival | Colosseum, OTA!
No. Captured again--and so co close to the completion of his mission, so close to being able to return to his homeworld and his people?! He will not be a victim of any more of these cruel, torturous games--and yet even as he turns to begin searching for a way out, he sees strange demons seeping from the shadows, spherical bodies beset with pointed spikes and gaping maws lined with glistening fangs. Their singular eyes are fixed on him and the rest of the new arrivals; without warning their mouths open wide, and glowing energy leaps from their jaws, detonating around them all. Panicked cries ring out, but the alien holds his ground and narrows his eyes.
He cannot leave now. Though he has suffered greatly at the hands of humans, the people here are clearly in danger; his sense of honor does not allow him to leave innocents to suffer. Glacius leaps into action, waving an arm over his head to generate a jagged chunk of hail, which launches itself forward and explodes on impact with its target. "I will defend you, but we must get out of here!" the ice alien barks, as he wards off the group of Cacodemons as best as he can.
And so Glacius has been forced to fight once more. It is bitter knowledge, but now he harbors no regret, only purpose. He still has a mission to complete, after all.
no subject
So that's where she's wandered in, a replica running ahead of her to take any life-threatening blows in her stead. She's made it far enough by now, helped a few people get outside, lost and recreated a replica or two along the way -- all of which mean she's not as strong as she was when she started. These new monsters must be sensing that. They're converging on her, and even though she is never really alone, she and her replicas aren't enough to fight them back. She doesn't waste time creating more of them. That energy is better spent trying to get out.
It's when she has that thought that the hail flies past and destroys one of the monsters. Z looks back in time to see Glacius make his declaration. That simple thing, those few words, remind her of home, of teamwork and fighting against the odds and winning. She may not be ready to run into a fight right now, but in this ally, whether temporary or not, she finds strength.
"I know the way out. Come on!"
With a nod, she starts off in the direction of the nearest exit. Having another person with her on this gives her the courage to weave her way through the monsters and debris and the boxes litering the floor. Z will be easy enough to follow, since she is wearing her SPD uniform precisely because the yellow will stand out. They'll make it, even if they sustain injuries along the way.
There's a monster up ahead. It opens its mouth, ready to spit at them. Z dodges out of the way, hoping to distract it from Glacius. She's small enough that she'll be able to roll out of the way of the plasma blast starting to form in the monster's teeth.

Seeing a scar-faced woman holding a rather large bastard sword probably isn't the best first impression one could have of her. When she speaks, however, there is an amicable impression in her apparent monotone: "Don't suppose you've any experience with any of these?"
She gestures to the other weapons with the sword in her hand.

[ Her mind was about to slip into coded structures of a digital mainframe when a scream jolts her awake. A single small box beside her head, screaming— promptly shut with a quick hand. The wires connected to her temples are gone; She's definitely not where she used to be. The box stays under her fingers as she keeps low to the ground. Only moving to take a peek around with the assumption that the noise might have drawn some unwanted attention to her.
When it feels safe, she gets up to better scope out the area. It's old and busted which is nothing new to her. It's actually so familiar that she wouldn't know she were anywhere different at all. So when fiery-balls of doom lurk into view it's a little unexpected, but just another Tuesday. She has her stun baton. That's good. Even with it she won't be able to fight back more than two of the things. So the box in her hand gets a hard chuck in their direction. It screams through the air and gives her an opportunity that she doesn't waste. She runs.
The halls seem simple to follow. They aren't so enclosAs she slows down to take what she thinks is the final turn, she nearly runs into something. It's just enough warning to push herself out of the way and avoid a collision— Not enough to get out of reach of whatever it is. ]
city .
[ She's had plenty of time to adjust by now. Her left arm is burned and bloody, like she might have shoved the entire thing into a Cacodemon's hideous mouth. The material of her suit is slowly creeping itself back over the exposed skin to lace up with the other sides of material. Though she doesn't appear to be in any pain, she's still cautious. Even a little jumpy.
And she might just try to punch you in the face if you come up behind her. ]
city.
[While she didn't have that many set expectations for how this day would go, almost getting punched in the face by someone she just happened to be coming up upon was not part of the agenda. If such a thing could ever be on anyone's agenda, that is.
[Fortunately, Rey's quick reflexes pay off. She reels her upper half backwards, sufficiently evading Cibo's blow.]
Watch it! [she barks.]

[He didn't quite remember asking the Earl for a wake up call nor did he specifically remember going to sleep at all. The screaming box next to him was hardly a proper tool to awaken someone like him. He preferred the sweet sound of someone familiar or a gentle nudging of the woman he had slept with the night before. Then again, being awoken all on his own with plenty of sleep was even more preferable. The startling notion that he was not where he last remembered bothered him even more and after a moment and shutting the box with a forceful press of his hand did he finally get a moment to think once it had stopped triggering said screaming.
A hand lifted and smoothed his hair back out of his face. The last thing he could remember was sitting with Wisely while stalking dear Allen Walker from a distance. Rising to his feet and dusting himself off he acquainted himself with his surroundings. It looked like Rome and he could chalk it up as the Earl opening another door in the Ark and depositing him here except the fact he was underground.]
You always have such a strange sense of humor, Earl. [There, all prime and proper he's made himself while waiting for a response. It's only when it doesn't come that he's looking up and around. He had opened a connection with his family yet he couldn't hear the Earl, his family or even the chatter of a stray Akuma. To anyone observing he looked like a stray and lost noble obviously talking to himself.
It should be alarming that he didn't even bother to look towards the approaching Cacodemons even if someone like this had nothing to fear from them at the moment.]
The city
[He wanted out or at least know where he was. It's why the first few moments out of the Colosseum had been spent at the edges of the caves trying to walk out of the underground. There mere fact he had access to his power to choose and yet couldn't walk through a normal looking wall made him question any real option he had right now.
It's why he's now wandering through the city on the road away from the Colosseum towards any signs of life or civilization. If there is a way out he wants to know about it or at least find answers. Taverns, brothels and libraries held the best information about any place. Being one that often hunted others he knew to search those out first in that order.
Though right now he's trying to figure out how to use whatever ended up in his pocket. For a noble that is use to a spin dial phone or mail as the only form of communication this modern 'smartphone' perplexed him.]
the city.
So he's lingering in the city not too far from the coliseum. It should be interesting to see who comes out. The first one who catches his eye is a man fiddling with his phone. Sunny recognizes that look. It's the same one he used to have.
He approaches and though a sword hangs from his back and hip, his arms are folded loosely across his chest.]

kanda yu . ota
[ For someone who fought ranged, these damned strange monsters would be easy as cake. For someone who had to face them face to face, like himself, these things were just a pain in the ass. He found himself dodging way more than he liked, which, of course, gave the damned monstrosities time to gather together.
Well.
It was clear then that he wasn't going to be just simply slicing and dicing as a way to dispose of them. It's with an exasperated sigh that Kanda's bringing his crimson blade up and slicing it through the air, sending out several crimson, crystal-like insects toward them. Doubtful there'll be much effect, given that the things weren't akuma, but it was a good enough distraction.
He needed higher ground to effectively get rid of these damned things. ]
b. city
[ After either defeating or retreating (he didn't run away, got it) from the Cacodemons, Kanda's certainly found himself curious, aggravated, and irritated among other things. This certainly wasn't England anymore. Which means that the beansprout and Johnny weren't here, nor was there any Order to return to.
Great. And he had things he needed to look into, to.
His sharp features fix into a scowl as he's sheathing Mugen, leaving him, really, with no other option but to explore. Find out where he was, beyond the obvious: an underground city. Which, honestly, did amaze him on a surface level. (Hah.) Not the first one he's seen, per say, but the first he's seen that wasn't about to collapse.
Where to begin was the question, however.]
b!
He wanders a few steps toward Kanda, though still keeping a bit of distance just in case.]
Hey. You just get here?

[ on the list of things Kate really never wanted to re-experience, being stuck Underground was somewhere near the top of the list... after loved ones being murdered and being made to participate in torture sessions. But, either way? She wants out. And now. So she makes her way to dive out of the colosseum, picking through the mess of people and weird, weird beings that dive upon anything that catches their attention like a flock of vultures. The boxes that littered the floor did nothing but impede her path out of here, tossed around with no pattern she can see.
She shoots an oncoming ball of whatever they are and swallows down the disgust that comes from the wound that seeps completely alien blue blood, firing another shot right at the thing's eye this time. Heart racing, she takes a few steps back, aiming to sprint in the other direction before more of them turn up, as was turning out to be the pattern, and promptly trips over a box, flipping it open.
The shriek is a horrifying, blood-curdling thing that sets her hair on end and does nothing but make everything about her even more obvious. ]
Fuckin' hell. [ She flips herself up just as a bunch of those things descend. Sorry if you happened to be passing by! You might just have to deal with a whole lot more than you wanted. ]

But his worries about who did this to him and how will have to wait; right now there are monsters descending upon them, and he has no time for the obstacles. He will defeat them as he has defeated all challengers before. The alien snaps into action, tossing jagged chunks of hail that explode into countless glimmering fragments upon impact with their targets, and when the beasts get too close his right arm shifts into a blade which he uses to hack them apart. He's actually warding his own fair share of the beasts off when Kate trips over that box, and the resulting scream outright startles the alien, who whips around and gives a shriek of his own--like he's trying to intimidate the source of the sound.
Looking around and seeing nothing but a human with... very brightly colored hair, the alien naturally assumes her to be the source. Sorry Kate.] Do not worry, human! I can fend these monstrosities off.

[This was definitely not the cave where he fell asleep last night.
Koda moved slowly, cautiously from his prone position, taking in as much of the area as he could. When he looked directly up, the ceiling was so high that it didn't seem to exist. Everything smelled familiar; the dark, musty stagnation of a closed cave, but with an overlay of blood and death, and, fresh in the air, something he didn't recognise, something that therefore instantly got tagged as "monster".
He could see movement in the long shadows covering huge areas of the ... the big room - his train of thought stumbling for a second on the unknown word - and he immediately dropped into a fighting stance. As he moved, he felt the familiar weight of the Dino Charge Morpher on his thigh, and he quickly unstrapped it to hold in both hands, spinning in a slow circle. Around his neck, even through his shirt, his Energem glowed, the stegosaurus soul bound within radiating confusion.
He was so busy focusing on the sights and smells of everything above him, that he wasn't paying attention to his footing. One sandalled foot happened to knock over one of the metal boxes, and the scream it emitted as it tipped slowly over made the caveman jump backwards in a dramatic flail, and he immediately pointed the gun at the box, firing an energy blast that made the small box explode and fly off into the distance. Unfortunately, his stumbling flail happened to send another box tumbling, for another wild scream.
While this chain reaction was no doubt amazing for a by-stander to watch, Koda wasn't yet aware that the shrieking boxes were attracting the floating monsters in the shadows...]
[ City ]
[When Koda, eventually, leaves the colosseum, accompanied or not, he's going to explore the city as best he can, cautious but curious and eager to talk with anyone that might be around.
If you're decidedly human-looking, he might even come up to you, talking in a slightly halting manner of speech.]
Um... excuse me...?
colosseum
She sprints in that direction and sees the newcomer -- and the monsters approaching him.]

the warden | ota
[ She remembers being here before.
She remembers coming to this place before, being confused and angry and afraid, the dark around them beckoning to more sinister creatures on the street. So when some of their number attempt to exit and come face-to-face with trouble, she is fully ready to engage. A large stone springs from the earth and launches itself at the Cacodemon attempting to engage one of the people leaving, and she's already preparing a second spell as a second and third attempt to clamor over the stone to greet their prey. ]
Take cover or get ready to fight!
[ The very large dog at her side seems far more eager to provide support to those who can't fight, barking loud enough to draw the demons towards it. And the moment any of them get too close, the creatures find themselves encased in ice or covered in flame, Neria's spells powerful and precise in nature.
And while the dog is very good at protecting the people there, it's still difficult for her to manage looking after the people, the dog, and herself. Any help would be appreciated, though she won't ask. She can handle herself, after all...and no matter how long she fights, she doesn't seem to completely tire or run out of mana. Fancy that. ]
city | exploration
[ It takes her some time to remember all of what's in Hadriel, or at least what she had seen. Neria returns to some of her old haunts, some of the places she used to look for items and salvage, and finds much of it has already been taken to be used. It doesn't give her much to work with, of course, but it gives her more of a timeline: it's been some time since she was here, and that leaves her more than a little unsettled.
But she does find one of the extra homes she had broken into and sort of fashioned into the beginnings of a safe house. It's an old bookstore with much of what was there now gone; the bookshelves are bare, paper and pens missing, and there's nothing in the lockbox. A shame, but it isn't as if she needed the money anyway.
She takes the moment to wrap some of her minor injuries from the fight with the demons, sitting outside of the shop on an old bench while the dog goes foraging within earshot...and often bringing her back something odd.
Like old knickers. Or a burnt book. Or garbage.
Neria gives him a smile and pets his head, scratching behind his ears. ]
You're so good. But I'm looking for something...usable? Can you find some of that?
[ He barks and trots off, determined to find something for his friend and partner...but she already knows he's going to bring back something strange.
Except, he finds you first. You might be offered a piece of garbage or a very nice stick in greeting, or perhaps he's going to try to drag you back to Neria. You seem useful, after all, and that's what she asked for!! ]
[ ooc: action or prose, I'm good for either!! ]
city
Well, well. Another stray? [ Pup had been, after all, but that had been Orlais, and not Hadriel. ] Have we been invaded by dogs, this time, and not monsters?
[ He makes a short huffing sound, tongue lolling out of his mouth. When she extends a hand to sniff, he does so, then barks once, short, and bounds off back into the house. The Inquisitor chuckles, shaking her head and straightening, before following the animal into the abandoned building. ]
Have you got a whole pack in here? [ She calls out, speaking, of course, to the mabari. There's another figure there, she sees with a start, and not even a human, but an elf. One she recognizes immediately, one whose sight stuns her, eyebrows shooting up. ]
-Warden Surana. I'm sorry, I didn't realize he was yours. [ And she'd been shouting like a fool. Maker. ] Or... that you'd come back.

Irisa Nolan | Defiance | OTA
[It's a scream that bolts her awake. A scream that permeates her dreams and causes a knife to practically fly into her hand as she jumps to her feet. Heart pounding, as she scans the area for the source.
It takes nearly every ounce of willpower for her not to collapse when she realizes the source of the scream is a box that someone had opened. She lets out a heavy breath, shoulders slumping as the dagger disappears back to whichever sheath it came from. She isn't relaxed, no, not when she's surrounded by bodies and in a strange place.
If she focuses she can tell those around her aren't dead, so she's not going to worry about them. Instead, she needs to figure out where she is. In the back of her mind she can hear Nolan quote some Old Earth movie, something about no longer being in Kansas, and it makes her briefly smile.
Pushing thoughts of Nolan aside she heads from what appears to be an exit. She hopes that the screaming boxes is the worst this place has to offer, but after living in a world where just about all the wildlife wants to eat you, she's not about to take her chances.]
»» AROUND THE CITY.
[Irisa can be found around, in various places, either perched up high (if she can help it) or squatting in some corner. Activities include; sharpening her knives, target practice with said knives, or trying to figure out how these phones work. They're nothing like the hailers from back home.
She can also be found snooping around the buildings, picking through whatever she finds to see if there's anything useful. Although if it looks claimed, she's likely to leave it alone.]
COLOSSEUM
The screaming boxes are unnerving, but helpful in calling attention to where people are stumbling around, unsure and disoriented. Rainier approaches carefully, makes sure his approach is seen to not startle Irisa further than this day already has. That he hasn't seen monsters nearby yet doesn't mean they aren't waiting in the wings just the same, so he keeps ready to be on the defensive at a moment's notice.]
