On May 3rd, you may wake up and notice that something is different about the cave. Are you sure it's the daytime? Maybe you didn't sleep long enough, because it still seems pretty dark outside. Or, of course, the gods are messing with the lights again.
This time, however, it seems like it's actually a good thing. Sometime around the afternoon, some smaller lights begin to appear around the city, trickling in from Delight's temple and flickering on and off. These fireflies are brighter than what you might be used to, but being illuminated by their light will mysteriously allow a small surge of joy to rumble through you.
By May 4th, the shops are stocked with large mason jars, and you can start distributing them and using them to catch these fireflies as you wish. They're most concentrated in and around Delight's temple, but by now, the delight-erflies are pretty fairly spread throughout the city.
Be careful (or don't) of how many you catch! 1-3 fireflies in a jar will be enough to give you a mild emotional boost, at 4-6 you might be able to realize that you're definitely happier than you used to be, at 7-10, you can definitely tell that something is making you more cheerful, warm and happy. Beyond 10 fireflies, the additional effect gets smaller the more fireflies you capture, but it will still continue to build until you may just spend the next few days wrapped around your firefly jar in a pleasantly drugged stupor.
Just, uh... don't forget to eat.► This log covers May 3rd-May 9th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!

► Did you OD on fireflies (is that even possible)? Please remember to hit up our death post!

What the?-
-oh, it's you. Having fun, Krieg?
[Liquid brushed his arm and noticed the big man having fun rather than waving his axe around in a rage. Were the bugs calming him? It would seem so.]

[He sounds positively delighted about it, too. Not needing to rip someone's lungs out of their chest to feel the way he is now - that's rare! It's euphoric, and he's going to cling to the feeling as tightly as he can.
He puts out a hand to Liquid's shoulder to steady him.]
Didn't mean to rattle your rib cage!
no subject
You seem to be well, Krieg. [Not killing or raging.] The fireflies, hm? They seem to be having a positive effect on everyone here. I am guessing the gods are to blame for this. Still, we'd better enjoy it while we can, hm?
no subject
[He cups his hands loosely in the general region of his heart, beaming beneath his mask.]
Didn't even need to tear the hair from the head of a dying puppy!
no subject
You killed no one? What on earth is the world coming to? [He could still be sarcastic and tease when he wanted. In a light-hearted way of course. He thinks you're awesome, Krieg.]
no subject
[Krieg even makes a show of putting a hand to his cheek in shock, then breaks off into another fit of uproarious laughter.]
Who made this happy goodness? I wanna rattle their soul!!

may 3rd - 5th
Unfortunately this does leave her rather vulnerable to being tripped over.
"Watch it, you - oh, it's you."
She has a smile for Krieg, despite being nearly run over.
"Are you all right? Having fun, dearheart?"
no subject
"Didn't break your crown, did we?" Checking to make sure he didn't damage her. It'd be a shame to ruin such a nice day, after all.
no subject
"Not at all, sweetheart. I'm very resilient."
Now she thinks of it, he'd probably enjoy the liver treats.
"Have you met my friends Bud and Lou? I think they're a tiny bit scared of you."
no subject
"Never seen 'em!" But then again, he's not particularly observant when it comes to names. Krieg's mental filing system of names tends to group people by peculiarly nondescript monikers: Squeaky Man, Smiley Man, Nice Lady, and so on ad nauseum. "Did they rub you wrong?"
no subject
This is not all that true - Bud and Lou tend to hide behind something when there are monsters about - but they do serve as an effective alarm system, so it's not all that untrue either.
"I'm going to call them over. I want you all to be friends."
She whistles, and the hyenas start to make their way back to their mistress. Hopefully Krieg's mellow enough at the moment to make friends.
no subject
"Some good skags?" he asks, because they look the most like a pair of skags, even if they look rather more...elegant and less liable to vomit up a pair of SMGs on the spot.

6th!
As Krieg isn't paying attention and neither is Noah, he does trip over Krieg. Noah manages to both slam the lid down at the right time, and when he falls its on his rear and he doesn't break the jar in the process, so he counts it as a win. Firefly caught (bringing the jar up to three, held securely against his chest), Noah blinks owlishly at the giant man curled up light a cat around his own jar.
Noah can't blame him, as that's his goal too, but he also lacks the information to know that this is not just Normal Krieg.
"Sorry, I didn't see you ... do you have a habitat set up in yours?"
Noah holds out his own jar for Krieg to see that he's got twigs and grass and chopped up fruit and what looks like a little damp sponge in his. Of course, it's a little shook up now but the fireflies seem undamaged by the fall.

He manages to shuffle upright into a vague sitting position.
"Made of glass," he mumbles, which is code for no, because he's lacking both the means and brainpower to think that far ahead. "All warm."
no subject
Why wouldn't someone abuse this if they could?
"That's okay for a day or two, but they'll die if they don't have a habitat. Dunno how long they'll last with one, but probably longer..."
no subject
So he scrapes up a handful of gravel from the ground, unscrews his one of his jars, and unceremoniously tips the lot of it inside. He's lucky the fireflies manage to dart and avoid getting smothered, but several of them escape in the process.
no subject
"I made mine, but my friend Ronan showed me how. He grew up on a farm. Lots of fireflies there." Noah says, after a moment to process the question. "I can show you, if you want."

8th; fashionably late to this party!
"Hey, Krieg."
While the rest of her little colony stays in a homemade habitat in her room, a small jar with just four of the little guys is tied to her waist and a few small flowers at the bottom of the jar. It's the perfect amount for a coherent, content Cibo.
"How're you feeling?"
She kneels down in front of him as she tries to get a count of how many fireflies he's high on.
"Not too many there, right?"
it's never too late
"Feels like home," he mumbles to her dreamily. "Been a long minute since we've seen your scrub-mug."
no subject
Well. He didn't scream it. So she'll take it.
"Yeah, I know. I've been around."
Somewhere between her many little projects, she came outside a few days ago to enjoy the fireflies. She isn't regretting it.
"And you? Where have you been to? Playing with these little things?"
She makes herself more comfortable just beside him. His fireflies are pretty close now.
no subject
Nice, and relenting, and easy. He could stay like this forever, said the voice, and it's true. Doesn't even want to smash or rip or roar.
"Making new friends." He's smiling beneath his mask, tracing little invisible patterns on the glass of his jars as he watches the illuminated treasures within flit about.
no subject
She wonders about him. About what normally goes on in his head. She's come across plenty of 'crazy' in her many years and never really thought about what brought them to that point. But she wonders this with Krieg. He's calm now. It seems like can think straight-ish. It must be great for him to breathe for once instead of fight whatever goes on in there.
"You know... You don't have to be upset about what happened anymore. We can be friends now too, if you want."
no subject
"We broke you up," he mutters guiltily, unable to meet her eyes. "Bled you dry."
He looks down at himself, traces a line down his sternum. Shuts his eyes and tips his head back, arms out like he's about to throw himself to the wolves.
"Free hits on the house?"
