oh no we won't go
Who: Kate, Faith, and Carlisle
What: Time to move into a new house and kidnap the third roommate!
Where: Starts outside Carlisle's apartment, should end in house 1404 in spiral 2
When: September 10, eveningish
Warnings: Good-natured kidnapping, grumpy Carlisle, Kate being herself, Faith being herself. Will edit as necessary
[The conversation had gone something like this:
Kate: Here's the flat.
Faith: It's too small for two people!
Kate: We can make it work.
Faith: We don't have to, do we? There's empty places. I know there are, saw them on the way!
Kate: Fine.
Faith: Oooh let's get a house!
Kate: Aye... but my neighbor is a disaster. He'll die by himself.
Faith: Then he can come with us!
So here are Faith and Kate, standing outside Carlisle's apartment after having moved Kate's things and Faith's quarterstaff (her only possession at the moment -- she needs to go shopping here, oops), Faith knocking on the locked door.]
Hel-loooh there! [Somehow her accent is more marked when she turns the cheerfulness up to eleven.] Your neighbors are here to visit!
[And to kidnap you, but we won't lead with that.]
Hmm, not answering, is he. [Faith has been knocking for maybe a full minute on and off.] Do you have a key, Kitkat?

especially when you've been alone for six months, but let's not go there, hmm? Kate will never admit to that anyway. )
Hold on. ( look, she learned lock picking just in case, that's. definitely why.
so let's pick this lock!
give her a minute...
and done. )
Reet.

The inside looks about as occupied as Kate's flat, maybe a bit more so.] Least he's got plants 'round. [And a desk covered in papers. And bottles of ink. And... a bottle of what looks like wine.
Okay Faith can see how he's Kate's friend.]
You two drink together? [That's mostly an innocent question.
Mostly.]
Well, won't be much to take with us. He's probably what'll take the most room!
no subject
they also nerd out over things and take too many notes. those count as bonding hobbies, right?
as for that second bit? that gets a snort and a shake of Kate's head. it's true, but that's... one way of putting it. ) There a box around? ( something they can bundle this crap up in. )
no subject
Injuries? Hunting? Workouts? Foraging?
Anything?
Oh well. Faith's not judging. Must be what people do after the novelty has worn off. She's only been here a few hours, so she can't expect to fall into stride with the rest of the city yet.]
Hmm. I'll check the kitchen, maybe there's a box or something there. [Or maybe an empty but clean trash bin.
Into the kitchen she goes, opening cupboards and cabinets, peering everywhere, finding out quite by accident just how many bottles of liquor Carlisle keeps in the house. She's tactful this time, though, and doesn't say anythiing about it to Kate.]
Any luck out there?
no subject
Kate and Faith end up with a few extra seconds as Carlisle accidentally locks the door on himself, unaware it was unlocked at all (thanks, Kate). There's an utterance that sounds suspiciously like a profanity just beyond the door as he fumbles with the knob.]
no subject
... it probably is the novelty wearing off. but in the meantime, Kate is going to search for a crate and find one!
excellent. )
Got one. ( and it should be big enough to carry everything they need to.
annnnnd there's Carlisle. ) Thought he'd be home quicker.
no subject
A box? [Or the vaguely described 'something'?
At the next bit, Faith peeks out of the kitchen, half hidden behind the wall -- not because she's actually hiding, but because it's an easy way to maximize her cuteness. (Cuteness is impomrtant to employ strategically, okay? Use what you've got, etc, etc.)]
Oh, is that him! Hello, I'm Faith!
no subject
Relief washes over him -- not because there's a perfect stranger in his home, no, but because Kate is with her. That doesn't mean he's happy about the fact that she's in his apartment while he's not there, but at least means the stranger isn't likely some new mischief from the gods. The bear appearing in his home was bad enough.
He pushes the door the rest of the way open, his brow wrinkling.]
What are you doing in my apartment? How'd you even get in here?
no subject
Kate nods from Faith to Carlisle. ) Faith, Carlisle. Carlisle, Faith.
( notice she's not mentioning why she's currently packing up your stuff, Carlisle. )
no subject
Kate picked your lock. We're here to help you move into the house!
no subject
I'm not moving.
[Annnnnnnd he goes for a statement instead.]
no subject
That's what I said.
( for like. half a second. then Faith gave her that look. )
this look
Which she gives.
Right now.]
You're always spending time with Kate anyway. Why not be roomies? Saves you the trouble of walking up and down those stairs.
no subject
I'm sorry, Faith? Faith, right? I don't even know you. I'm not 'always spending time with Kate' so much as she's constantly coming over an— no no no, put those back!
[Kate, don't touch his stuff. He'll tell her himself as he crosses the room to her, gathering up his notes on the table before she can shove them into the crate with the rest of his things.]
no subject
( pause )
In th' house.
( now she's just going with this because it's funny. )
no subject
[It is really funny. How can she make it funnier? Hmm.]
'Sides, Kate says you'll die by yourself, and I am not having a friend of my friend die while I'm here.
[So there.
Sorry, Kate.]
no subject
Kate, a word with you.
[He closes the gap between them, lowering his voice.]
I cannot live with other people. You know why.
[That last part is uttered through his teeth. His brow knits with the private concern that she might have already told this 'Faith' about his condition -- about what he can do with it.]
no subject
when she answers, her voice is low, lips barely moving; ) Have to learn to deal with it some time.
( and, actually, Faith might be a good person to talk to about that. controlling overpowered abilities. Kate may have a lot of control, but her powers can't do damage by themselves, not in the same direct sort of manner. )
Look, just come.
( not because she, like, actually enjoys your company or anything, lord almighty no. )
I'll keep an eye on things.
no subject
This is a terrible mistake, and you know it.
no subject
Oh, these'll look so nice by the windows in the house!
[Yes, she is decorating with your stuff already, Carlisle.]
no subject
No no no, don't touch those! You might hurt them! In fact, let's not touch anything. I haven't decided about this 'moving' thing as it is!
no subject
( Kate sounds way too amused by that though. it's nice to not be the trolling victim for once. )
no subject
Carlisle, if you're going to be drinking a lot, it's better if there's people 'round to help you if you need it. 'Sides, I like you! You're cute and funny and obviously really smart. You can teach me about your plants!
[This is all true, but yes she is also definitely trolling. #JustFaithThings]
no subject
Again, I don't know you. Now the two of you, put all this back and give me a day or so to think about this.
[Which means he'll just lock his door and not think about it at all. You know what? He doesn't need neighbors, especially if they're going to let themselves into his place and start pawing all his things.]
no subject
yep.
this is definitely Faith. )
Too much work, now.
( look at all the things she's already picked up and put away for transport. )
no subject
Come on, Carlisle, at least try it for a few days, yeh? If you really hate it after a week, then I guess you can move back out.
[How long will it take her to wear him down? Faith is up for the challenge!]
no subject
Carlisle huffs, turning his full attention to Faith, trusting Kate won't continue packing behind him.]
Why would I try it when I already know it's not going to go well?
no subject
You worry too much.
( hypocrite. )
no subject
Look, if you hate it, I'll move all your stuff back for you, yeh? Promise.
no subject
[File that under "things Carlisle probably shouldn't say after the extraordinary amount of lenience his neighbor has shown him."]
no subject
( Carlisle would have to be extremely unobservant to miss the edge that creeps into Kate's tone there. Faith is far more trustworthy than Kate is, and yet you deal with her. )
no subject
You can trust me. I can fight, and I can heal, so you'll be safe as can be with us. I won't touch your things, and I won't drink your wine unless you give me permission. Sound good?
no subject
The two of you cannot possibly be concerned for my well-being.
no subject
Who would help me supply the clinic with healing cells otherwise?
( yeah. sure that's the reason. sure. )
no subject
Oy. I take offense to that. I'd never put anyone in any kind of danger. If you're at my side and not hurtin' anyone else, you can bet your life I'll keep you safe.
no subject
I don't need either of you watching me like I'm some kind of child, but I can see you're not going to listen to me no matter how much I balk at this foolishness.
no subject
( because nope. they're not. how does one correct the mess that is their home if they're not incredibly stubborn? )
no subject
A little foolishness is good for you, y'know.
[Also, to hear Kate tell it, he does need someone watching him.]
no subject
Until it gets us all killed.
You'll be careful with my plants, though. Is that understood?
no subject
Sure, sure.
( no they'll really try. or. she'll leave it to them to try. she'll carry the rest |D; )
no subject
I hereby vow to treat all your possessions with respect, an' to protect 'em should the threat of danger arise!
no subject
I get the distinct feeling that promise will be broken in a matter of minutes, if the way you were pawing my possessions when I arrived is a sign of things to come.
[He goes to gather up a couple of his pots, deciding it's best he carry some of the more delicate plants. There's one in a woven basket he gathers up with great care.]
no subject
Let's get moving, then.
( seriously, today has been a long day. )
