[ It's taken Eddie a while to get himself to the clinic, which in itself is a surprise. Back home he's always in and out of the pharmacy picking up prescriptions for his mother and himself or even in and out of the emergency room when his mother is convinced Eddie has caught something or has sustained an injury. When you and your mother are on a first name basis with the nurses and doctors it's never going to be good. Thankfully the last time Sonia Kaspbrak threatened the hospital with a lawsuit she didn't bother to see it through.
Hadriel is a weird place and in all the chaos of arriving and finding his way around, Eddie has come to terms with the fact that going to the clinic is going to be a nightmare. He's already heard that inhalers are in short supply and going there would mean finding out what else he can't have or receive. "Asking the Gods" is something, but just how many times will someone have to ask for medicine on his behalf? The whole thing is overwhelming enough that the thirteen year old hesitates in the doorway of the clinic. What if they try and fix his broken arm and it just goes weird and never works again? What if, what if, what if?]
This is shit. [ Words, quiet and huffed are enough to get Eddie moving again. Sure, right now he knows there's going to be some things that mean some kind of hard work ahead, but at the end of the day Eddie can only remind himself that he didn't survive getting eaten just to chicken out going to a clinic of all places. What was the worst that could happen?] Uh, hello?
(lake)
[ Despite being on a hitlist for the Null, Eddie has finally decided that he needs some "fresh air", or as fresh as it gets in a cave of all places. Everyone is so well intentioned and helpful, not one person that the teenager knows of has agreed to outright murder so he's not too concerned in the fact that outside could wind up bad for him. He's not even going too far either, finding the lake and sitting near the water as he frowns into the distance. It's been a month in this place from what he can tell, a month and no way to go home yet. There have been people saying they've been in this place for extremely long times and Eddie isn't even sure if he could stomach being around that long. Surely the air would run out at some point??
The logistics of it still elude Eddie at points and for now he's going to settle with throwing rocks into the lake, trying to get some to skip with moderate success and completely unaware that the deeper part of the lakes would be one of his worst nightmares.]
(spire 3, 701 - locked to ignis)
[ Eddie knows that all things considered, both he and Richie have landed on their feet when it comes to the apartment they chose, solely for the fact that such an awesome guy lives above them. Ignis didn't have to help them out, but he has been and Eddie is quietly grateful for that and the fact Ignis can cook amazing things. They would probably have starved or caught scurvy if left to their own devices. Eddie isn't sure if someone could die from eating nothing but junk food, but they would have given it a darned good shot regardless.
Someone with great hair, cooking skills and a funny accent is always going to have a fan in Eddie, so when Ignis goes to another room there's zero shame when Eddie gets up to take a quick look around. It's an idle curiosity, the kind that slowly burns out as one gets older. If the other has something he feels the need to hide then Eddie knows it's for the best he knows now and not later when shit is going down, right?? That's what he keeps telling himself as he takes a swift glance around, slowly pulling a drawer out to peer into it and blinking as he pulls out one of two daggers.
Eddie isn't an expert when it comes to weaponry, but even he gets the feeling these aren't for chopping potatoes.]
Uh?

Clinic
Hello?- Oh. Yes, we've spoken before, haven't we?
[He moves to stand]
Can I help you?
no subject
Uh yeah. I mean, I have to come and talk about my medications that I need....If that's okay.
no subject
The boys were not so difficult to understand. It was clear they cared for each other, and in many ways they reminded him of his own friends in their younger years. When he steps out of the room for a few minutes he naturally expects Eddie to push against unspoken boundaries and do a little poking around, but when he returns he doesn't quite expect him to have a dagger in his hand.]
Be careful. [He says it without snapping, and rather than taking the weapon from Eddie he picks up the other one and slides it free of its sheath.]
I began learning to fight with these when I was not much younger than you are now.
no subject
Apparently not. The guilt is already changing back to curiosity as Eddie watches Ignis unsheathe the other dagger, keeping the other one (carefully) in his hands for now. There were lots of people in this place saying that they had trained or learned to fight at his age or younger. Obviously he's been missing out on things!]
What kind of place do you come from where you had to learn to stab people at my age?
no subject
[Ignis holds the dagger in a way that suggests a testing of its balance, though he already knows that it's perfect. He isn't going to fault the boy for his curiosity, though he may later have a quick word about snooping in other people's possessions without asking.]
Where I come from - the kingdom of Lucis - I am one of the Crownsguard. A select group of people dedicated to protecting our prince, Noctis Lucis Caelum.
[He says the name with warmth. Ignis is very proud of his place by Noctis' side, and how long he has spent there.]
I also serve as his advisor, where necessary, and always as his friend.
no subject
Crownsguard...Lucis Caelum... [ He mouths the words quietly back, marveling at just how foreign sounding they are. In fact, they sound similar to how Ignis's name does and Eddie gives the dagger a glance before doing his best to try and mimic the way Ignis holds his own.]
That's weird, I mean it sound really strict. [ For lack of better word. The concept of royalty, advisors and the important work they have to do is not something Eddie is familiar with.] What's he like?

she's alone for a time, reflecting on what she's been through, between showing up, falling in love, and yes, getting herself on a hit list, but then she spots Eddie and approaches him with a smile]
Hello, Eddie. How are you today?
no subject
I'm okay. Are you?
[ It's definitely strange to be talking with a queen, even if said queen has left that title back home and for once Eddie is definitely curious about the place Margaery will return to one day.]
no subject
I'm fine. I spent much of the day in the sewing shop, but I have a lesson in swordplay later.
[Margaery is of the opinion that Eddie is a fine young man and if anyone tries to hurt him, they will face a very angry queen who is learning how to use a sword. and he should feel free to ask any questions he might have about Westeros]
no subject
[ It's hard to imagine anyone swordfighting, let alone Margaery but then Eddie knows full well that girls can kick ass as much as boys. Beverly was testament to that. Eddie briefly wonders if he should feel sorry for whomever Margaery was fighting against before shrugging it off. More fool them for getting in her way.]

He's in the midst of getting his shirt back on when Eddie walks in, chest a mess of old scars, tattoos, and purpling bruises.]
Just me, kid.
[There's also a bandage over his bad eye. No prosthetic today. It was itching.]
You're still upright. Can't be that bad.
no subject
Not yet it's not. If they don't have my meds here I might not be able to stand up if I'm here long... [ Best to just throw that out there at the start, to speak the niggling fear out loud and air it.] Someone said something about asking a god or something, but it's not guaranteed I don't think. You look like someone tried to murder you.
no subject
[Ephemera shrugs.]
Busted some ribs. Nothing to worry about.
no subject
[ The shrug Eddie gives is only slightly apologetic. He's not sorry for being careful or concerned; he'd be an asshole if he said nothing and the worst happened.]
Medicine for my asthma. If my inhaler runs out and I have an attack then I'll probably suffocate and die.

Lake
[ The red in the water preceded the doctor. He’d come to wash his wounds when he heard the familiar splashing of rocks. The man was in terrible shape, and it showed in his ragged voice. The way he slouched, hunched like a vulture, probably wasn’t as comforting as he’d wished. ]
May I try?
[ He reached to grab a stone from the ground. Holding it delicately between the blackened claws that replaced his once-human digits. ]
no subject
Uh, sure. Best to find a flat round one. [ Eddie is watching Malkus's every move, not bothering to hide the fact that he is. He's on the Null's murder list, it's best to be safe than sorry.] It'll sink if it's not flat and round....
no subject
[ Malkus wasn't completely oblivious to the boy's concerned stares. But he had filled his quota of death dealing for the month. One was quite enough, and that alone had absolutely ruined the doctor. It stayed with him. Clung to his body like a resin that wouldn't wash away. He clicked a nail against the stone in his palm, before setting it down to look for a smoother one. ]
Many a night was spent hunting for leeches and slugs at a lake like this one. Sadly, all that resides here are little fishes and monsters.

Well yeah. We're not exactly well supplied here, but I'm sure we can help. Are you hurt?
no subject
[ What a great way to start things with a new face. Eddie can't help but look a little guilty, ears burning as he tries to clear that up.]
I was talking about the whole cave thing.... [ His voice trails off as Eddie struggles to regain his mental footing. The flip flops are the best distraction ever as he catches sight of them.]
Don't you ever hit your toes on something in here? And no, not really, I'm here to talk to someone about my meds.
no subject
Oh well, then I agree with you. And nope, never.
[Will grabbed some supplies so he could start a new chart for the kid.]
You're new right? Whats your name? And what meds do you need? I'm Will, by the way.

lake
So he's super jazzed when he spots Eddie down by the lake trying to skip rocks. Newt is amazing at skipping rocks. He jogs over.]
Hey! You're doing it wrong. [Off to a great start. Hello, child he's never met!]
You want to hold it more like this. [He picks up his rock to demonstrate proper rock-holding technique. Of course, he wasn't paying attention to how Eddie was holding it before, but... Look, his skipping could use improvement, okay? He's helping.] Not like you've got a crab claw for a hand. See? Then you just kind of...
[He whips his rock across the water and manages to get a pretty decent amount of skips with it. He's out of practice, but he's still an expert. Please award buttpats accordingly.]
Like that.
no subject
[ Okay, Eddie had definitely been on the lookout for anyone acting strange in a I-want-to-kill-you way for the Null, but definitely not on the lookout for someone to come running on over only to start showing him how to skip rocks. Did someone really do that? Really?
Okay, apparently this is happening and Eddie shakes his head as if to clear it, keeping half an eye on Newt himself as he watches the other display his own rock throwing skills. It's a good enough attempt and Eddie gives a final wary glance before picking up another rock of his own.]
That's how I was doing it. [ Eddie flings his rock at the water, watching as it skips the same distance as Newt's does. Okay, that was a fluke and absolutely positively nothing to do with Newt's influence....] Like that, huh.
no subject
Usually, he'd call the other guy out on, no, that was not how you were doing it (probably??), but Eddie gets a pass because he's a kid and also because he's a quick learner.]
Yeah! Like that. Nice one, dude. [He's genuinely pleased. This is nostalgic.] What's your name? I'm Newt.

clinic;
He steps forward, a slight figure with long flowing dark hair that certainly any modern hospital would tell him he has to tie up. And a pretty face, more feminine than anything, and the voice is soft but male. ]
Hello. What seems to be the trouble?
no subject
Eddie knows he likes this person already and the smile he gives is a small, albeit nervous one. Why are all the adults he's met in this place so cool?]
Yeah someone said I could come here to have my arm fixed?
