It starts off small: the wind picks up, particles of sand and dirt and dust begin to fill the air. You might not even notice at first, not until you have to wipe the dust off your windows to see outside. After all, it's been a long time since Hadriel has experienced weather, and it's never experienced a weather event not caused by the gods before.
But the gods aren't in charge of the weather now, and even if they could prevent this dust storm, they have way too many other things to do. So it's up to you to deal with it, and as the wind rises and the dust storm moves into the city, there'll be plenty to deal with.
Once the storm is at its peak, it'll be almost impossible to see outside - and it won't be safe to go wandering, either. Entirely besides falling and hurting yourself, if you aren't wrapped up well enough the particles in the air will abrade your skin. Love that sandpaper feel! Oh, and breathing? Yeah, better make sure your nose and mouth are covered, or else they'll be full of sand, too. Hope you've got some goggles stashed away to protect your eyes. Luckily, it won't last too long - 'cause you'll have plenty of cleaning to do once the storm is over.► This log covers January 14th-17th.

[She leans forward to sneak a kiss.]
Just picture it and want it to happen. You can totally do it.

[ Not that he minds, but he's trying to do a thing here geez. She gets a tiny smile before he focuses his attention on the tool in his hands. ]
Should it feel like something?

[Which also happens to be distracting. Sorry, Wash.]
It's, um... A little different for everyone. For me it's like... I don't know, like feeding electricity through a circuit. Harlan says his isn't that controlled. Like a power surge? [She shrugs.] And Lance says casting a spell feels the same for him as making music does.

[ Wash considers her description. He doesn't know what feeding electricity through a circuit would feel like, either -- he's certainly been shocked enough over the years, but that's probably not the kind of thing she means. And he's not a creative person. He just hums a little noncommittally, and does what she says. Pictures a light coming off the metal.
Nothing happens. ]

Most people don't get it right away. Here.
[Kyna touches the end of the wrench, making it glow for a moment, then pulls back and lets the light dissipate.]
Picture that and try again.

The seconds tick by in silence, with absolutely nothing happening. Which is a little awkward, but even if he can't do it at least he tried?
Except that as time passes, the skepticism is actually less at the front of his mind. The visualization of the light growing stronger. And just as he's about to laugh off his failure and move on to teaching Kyna to throw a punch... a faint glow comes off the metal. He almost thinks it's a trick of the light, that maybe he tilted his hand and it's just a reflection. But no. It's glowing. ]

See? I knew it!

[ And then Kyna cuts him off with a kiss, blocking his view of his hands. How did he just do that? It didn't feel electric, just like... finding his center? Wash kisses back but then shifts away a little, wanting to see if he can manage it again. ]
Hold on, hold on.

Do it again.
