Good morning, new Hadrielites. How are you feeling? A little weird about waking up on a strange world under two suns? Yeah, we figured. You're not the only ones - just ask all the folks who woke up with you, or the folks who have been here for months. Or you could ask the monsters.
Yup, arriving with the newcomers are a number of nurses, - but not the nice ones that will patch up your wounds and bring you sweet painkillers. No, these are hunchbacked and infested or disturbingly sexy, and none of them are helpful at all. They are attracted to light and noise, and they conveniently carry melee weapons with them. All the better to beat you with! While you can kill them, they can take a lot of damage, so think twice before running in with fists swinging.
Don't worry, the nurses aren't the only thing that came in with you. Life in Hadriel can be pretty hectic, so why don't you make sure you have something to protect that phone of yours? Scattered around the arena, you can find a number of different and artistic phone cases. So grab one that appeals to you and show off your sense of style!
Once you've escaped the nurses and picked up some phone protection, you're ready for the wider world of Hadriel. Feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers February 10th-16th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

Mostly, she's pushing petals away from the table and trying to pretend the speakeasy isn't twenty shades of pepto bismol. It's a little unfair to have all the pink shoved in her face when she's been the better part of a year without any hair dye. But what can you do. There's not exactly a lot of places to relax here, let alone have a date.
So, when a familiar face approaches, she brightens up, stops fiddling with her drink and gestures to the space next to her. )
Took you long enough.
no subject
[He slides into the space offered to him without comment and catches one of her hands in his, lifting it up to press a kiss to the back of her knuckles. Ignis has never been particularly overt in his affections towards Kate, but he doesn't try to hide them either.
Seated, he takes a better look around the room than he did when he first walked in, and his eyebrows lift slightly over the tops of his glasses.]
There's a theme here, but I feel like it might be a touch overdone.
no subject
Didn't take Rey for the romantic type.
( She's assuming that it's Rey's doing, this decoration, since she's mostly who Kate knows as responsible for this place. )
no subject
Nor I. Perhaps she's only catering for the patrons.
[And, honestly, he isn't going to be the one to ask Rey which one of those things it is.]
no subject
( Ignis have you met the Edgelords of Hadriel, perchance? Kate bites back a laugh at the very idea that this would be something that any of them would have asked for.
That said, she's still very content to keep their hands together under the table. So maybe not all the Edgelords of Hadriel are opposed to occasional cuteness. )
no subject
Ignis holds back a smile as he shakes his head and gracefully shrugs one shoulder.] This place does continue to surprise me in the strangest ways. An appreciation for overdone decoration would not be entirely unexpected.
[She's content, so he rubs his thumb over the backs of her knuckles and makes himself comfortable.]
Now, what can I drink which won't leave me feeling like my brain is leaking out of my ears come morning?
no subject
But she won't. Instead, Kate glances over at the drinks provided in lieu of an actual bartender for the evening, and she takes another sip of her own. )
... Not the rum.
( She thought she'd poured enough mixer in it to be a good starter drink, but she can still taste the kick of booze more than she expected. )
no subject
[Eventually, Ignis settles on something that isn't too strong, and won't divest him of all personal dignity too early in the night. There may one day come a time when he can drink with the best of them, but it isn't going to be today.
Still with his hand comfortably curled around Kate's, he settles back and sips from the glass.]
I feel as if I haven't been able to relax in days.

drowning her sorrowskeeping up with the best of them to fall back on.Slowly, she leans back on the couch, moving her eyes from the surroundings to her boyfriend's face, the barest of smiles softening her expression. )
Get more worried when we can relax, honestly.
( That whole "being lulled into a false sense of security" thing. Hadriel's always been good at that. )
no subject
[He glances across to her, just in time to catch her eye and see that look she gives him. It's returned with a slightly softened expression of his own, and he sighs out quietly as he lowers the glass to rest it on his thigh.]
Let's try to enjoy it while we can.
no subject
In this case, it's very unfortunate that she does, but all the same. Her fingers squeeze around his briefly as he lowers the glass. Enjoying it is a thing that doesn't come easy in a place like this, but the company makes up for the problems.
More than makes up for it, really. )
Before we get turned into kids... again.
( Or before he gets turned into a kid. Ah, the joys of not remembering shit. )
no subject
[He does remember some. He remembers people who knew him but he didn't recognise being kind to him. He remembers Noctis, and the look on his face as he'd spoken to the young version of his retainer that he barely recalled from his own childhood.]
I didn't come across you, to my knowledge.
no subject
Was nice to know you haven't changed too much.
( Grown up, become more assured and all the rest of it, sure. But he wasn't that different. Meanwhile, with herself, it could be the case that she was nearly all but unrecognisable. Kate doesn't know. If she did have a younger form running around...
Yikes. )
Might be a good thing.
no subject
[If he thinks about it, he supposes he hasn't changed all that much - he's needed to be something of a constant in Noctis' life and though he's grown and matured, and become more certain of his standing, there was never any dramatic alteration of his personality.
He sips his drink again and gives another, gentle squeeze to her hand.]
And why should it be?
no subject
Were either a hyperactive idiot or a snotty brat. Wouldn't want to deal with either running around this place.
( Depending on how old that childhood version would have been. )
no subject
[He sounds serious enough. Even looks it, save for the faint glint of mischief in his eyes.]
I can't picture it.
no subject
What're you saying?
( When has she ever given off the impression that she was an "impudent youth"? )
no subject
I have no idea what you're talking about.
[Not saying anything at all.]
no subject
Sure.
( She believes that. But for now, another drink and a moment's pause to change the topic. )
Anyone interestin' turn up this month?
no subject
[The question changes his demeanour subtly, but entirely, sapping a little of the levity from it. His next sampling of his drink is more a swift mouthful than a sip.
She isn't wrong.]
Lady Lunafreya Nox Fleuret. Ravus' sister, and Noctis' betrothed.
no subject
Of course, when Ignis explained how he got into cooking. )
Seems like everyone's turning up now.
( Obviously not as many as last month but... it seems the Door truly is random, to suddenly bring so many people from one place here. )
no subject
[And yet, as overjoyed as he's been to see his friends again, he hasn't been able to shake the feeling that this is only temporary.] It's happened before. [He says then, lifting her hand up in his but doing nothing else but looking at it, stroking his thumb over her knuckles.]
They have been here before. As have I, or so I have been informed. [Ignis frowns and glances at her.] Even immediately following my arrival here, a small group of us were present. They did not remain here for long.
[It's only his level of comfort with her, combined with her removal from the situation that allows him to be so frank, but it's still difficult to say what he does next.]
I haven't yet been able to assure myself of their permanence here. It's... unsettling.
no subject
But she knows all too well about watching people come and go, and come again. )
It's shit.
( The entire situation. Some might say it's no different to real life, because people can be there one day and gone the next, but real life doesn't scale it so intensely. You don't see people posting to message boards constantly announcing someone's departure.
You don't wake up to find the person whose bed you were in had just up and vanished.
(And, at that thought, Kate's grip tightens on Ignis' hand.) )
Don't know how you stop it, either. ( There's that living day to day shit Kate tries to keep in mind, but it's hard when you've seen people you'd been so close to disappear, when you've seen people who have been all but fixtures to the society they've built here disappear. You grow to expect that it could happen any day. )
no subject
The moment her grip on his hand tightens, he leans forwards to set the glass in his other hand down by his feet, then back again to clasp his fingers firmly over hers.]
Every moment spent on worrying about it is a moment wasted. [Ignis tells her, looking up from their joined fingers and into her eyes. He brings his hand up, brushing a curl back from her neck, his voice softening.] If I could take you back with me, even for a short time...
[A sigh leaves him, and he shakes his head before he smiles faintly.]
We can't stop it, should it come to pass, but we should make the most of the time we have. I thoroughly intend to do just that.
no subject
Not worrying is easier said than done, really.
She leans into his hand without thinking, briefly letting herself relax into a touch that's quickly become all too common a part of her life. She knows, and for once it doesn't bother her that much to be reminded of things she's already trying to keep in mind. It's certainly not worth bringing up when all they're trying to do tonight is relax after days of the Door opening and letting in new people and new monsters. )
S'pose there's worse ways to pass the time.
