Good morning, new Hadrielites. How are you feeling? A little weird about waking up on a strange world under two suns? Yeah, we figured. You're not the only ones - just ask all the folks who woke up with you, or the folks who have been here for months. Or you could ask the monsters.
Yup, arriving with the newcomers are a number of nurses, - but not the nice ones that will patch up your wounds and bring you sweet painkillers. No, these are hunchbacked and infested or disturbingly sexy, and none of them are helpful at all. They are attracted to light and noise, and they conveniently carry melee weapons with them. All the better to beat you with! While you can kill them, they can take a lot of damage, so think twice before running in with fists swinging.
Don't worry, the nurses aren't the only thing that came in with you. Life in Hadriel can be pretty hectic, so why don't you make sure you have something to protect that phone of yours? Scattered around the arena, you can find a number of different and artistic phone cases. So grab one that appeals to you and show off your sense of style!
Once you've escaped the nurses and picked up some phone protection, you're ready for the wider world of Hadriel. Feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers February 10th-16th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
A!
The absence of their dearest friend had been felt heavily the last month, Magnus' sudden disappearance a weight that all five of the Horny House residents couldn't just ignore. But for Lup, who has seen both Magnus and Lucretia come and go in the past six months, she's held onto the hope that his return would be quick, that the fighter wouldn't leave his friends waiting for very long.
And for once, she's right. Even if this isn't the Magnus that they are all expecting to see.
Like clockwork, Lup's there when the newcomers flood the arena, her attention drawn straight to the monsters brought in with them first. The nurses are definitely one of the stranger and more horrifying types of creatures to come in through the gate, but nothing a few fireballs won't blast right through. She's got this.
Lup's barely through her first sweep of the arena when the familiar ringing clang of a parrying weapon hits her ears, the elf turning just in time with Magnus, the flames in her hand disappearing just as she lets out a soft 'oh shit' in surprise. But it's only a second later that she's launching herself straight at man, screaming in delight at the top of her lungs while she throws her arms around his neck, cackling.]
You dickhead! I can't believe you fucking left us hanging this long!

He's a little surprised by her reaction, though. Was he really gone that long? Like, deserts are pretty same-y, so it's possible he wandered around a lot more than he thought. But still.
He laughs. ]
Sorry, sorry! I got here as fast as I could. Kinda got lost along the way.
[ Not that he actually made the conscious choice to come here, but details. ]

It's the red uniform first, the elf's eyes trailing along the familiar trim of Magnus' jacket before she's looking straight up at the IPRE patch that's been sewn into the sturdy fabric. And then Lup's gaze slips upwards to view a face that she's known for a literal century, but it's too youthful to be the one she's become familiar with in Hadriel. He's missing scars, missing the deep laugh lines around his eyes that she's been teasing him for. Missing the rugged handsomeness of his older age. This Magnus is so young, just as fresh-faced and bright-eyed as she remembers him from the Institute, the same sweet face that she was always greeted with at the start of every cycle, once they'd all returned to their recorded state.
Well. Fuck.
Lup's reaching out for him in an instant, ignoring any of the nurses that may be stumbling around towards them. Just back the fuck off for two seconds and let the woman talk to her friend, alright?]
Holy shit, Mags. [Her hands fall onto both of his wrists, chin tilted upwards to catch his gaze. To him, it must be awfully confusing to be greeted with Lup looking so confused and uncertainty. She's usually the first to brush this kind of shit off and just laugh it up with him. ] You...I... Quick! What's the last thing you remember? What plane were we on?
no subject
Maybe he just...got a big 'ol cut and looks like actual death. Only...that doesn't explain the weird questions. Mags isn't a thinker. He acts, pushes forward no matter the situation. This time, though, he has no idea where to even go. Because he has no idea what the situation is. ]
I mean, I didn't change planes if that's what...I-I just left my relic with some good people. Like I was supposed to.
[ And he says that last part, that like I was supposed to, like he's not quite sure anymore. Did he mess up? Was there a change of plan he had been too far away to hear about? ]
Did I mess it up somehow?
[ Because she's starting to freak him out a little. ]

[This creates some problems for just about everyone, doesn't it?
But Magnus shoots the woman a look that's all too close to that of a kicked puppy for Lup to not react, the elf immediately shaking her head with enough force to send her long braid flying around behind her. There's just so much to fill him in on. Crap. She hates getting this job.] No! No, babe, no. You didn't do anything wrong.
[Lup jabs a finger in the direction of the entrance of the arena.] C'mon, let's break out of this place an' we can have us a good ol' chat. These chicks won't follow us out of the arena walls.
[Before Lup pulls away completely though, she can't help the way the corner of her mouth curls upwards into a grin. Even with the problems that come from a Magnus over a decade behind them, the woman can't deny how much fuller her heart feels just having the man back.] It's good to have you back again, Mags. Ready to bust some heads?
no subject
And that's a relief in and of itself. It gives him something he can do, existential bullshit aside. It's a goal, a danger. A chance to do what he does best. So as weird as it is that these things aren't going to follow them, he doesn't ask for an elaboration.
He's. So. Ready. ]
Hell yeah, let's show 'em what we've got.
no subject
And then she's hopping away, a blur of long, light hair and dancing fire, darting to the left to start whipping fireballs into existence at her fingertips. Against the two of them? The nurses don't stand a chance.]
So-- [The two of them being in mid-combat isn't going to stop Lup from trying to keep up the conversation, the elf yelling over the shrieks of the nurses she downs with a well-placed fireball.] You popping your relic off is the last thing you remember?
no subject
Before he responds he hefts his ax and hits a nurse that gets a little too close for comfort, her freakishly large needle falling to the ground on impact.
Magnus kicks it away, and shouts back;] Yup! I was getting ready for the journey back to the Starblaster. Next thing i know--[ He motions vaguely with one hand as he plants a firm kick on another nurse. ]
no subject
Lup can read just where Magnus is going to pounce, just where his axe is going to be swinging by the tense lines of muscles in his arms, his legs. She knows just when to duck out of the way, just which way he's turning so that she can keep his back safe. This feels good.]
Damn, son. You sure picked a bad time to come tumblin' in here after us. [The flames in Lup's hands dissipates so that she can use thunderwave to push back a trio of nurses from advancing on them both, all three crumbling beneath the thunder damage.] But we've got you. We'll catch you up. I can't fill in all of the blanks, but Taako an' Merle should be able to.
[If she bullies them enough, they should.]
