Who: Evie & Aric
What: Finding a place to stay
Where: Around the city
When: 2/12
Warnings: None yet.
Evangeline had taken the words that Dr. Lance had given her to heart. He was right about the fact that a home was needed. Which is why she wondered if Aric had found a place or not yet. They might not of been from the same specific area, that much was obvious, but it didn't mean that she couldn't help him. To be honest, she didn't expect the same from him. Even if they were finally being civil to one another.
For the moment, however, she feels out for where Aric is aiming to head straight to him. To see what they could do. If they pulled their resources then maybe they'd be able to survive this place and it's weirdness. They'd survived worse, after all.

When Evie shows up he doesn't bother to turn toward her. They're at least on speaking terms, she's not really pushing the narrative about what might have happened and he's not constantly accusing her things. So at least there's progress -- or regression depending on how he looks at it.
"What do you want?"

She doesn't expect him to turn towards her despite the fact that they were on speaking terms now. A part of her wished that she knew what he'd gone through, but she doesn't push. She doesn't want to turn against him or to even remotely think about him turning against her.
"I wanted to see if you've had any luck finding a place around here. I haven't had any luck, just yet."

"There's nothing that I find particularly strategically advantageous," he admits, albeit a bit reluctantly but Evie would know well enough that such things were important to him.

The places around them seemed far too much in the open compared to Death's old place. Too much could be done from the streets to these places here. Though she wonders if they could find something up on a hill. Or if they could find a way to fortify a place of their own, build on it somehow.
"I've noticed that too, Aric," she tells him with a bit of a frown. "Are there any that you've found on a hill or anything? Something we can fortify to our standards."

"I know," Evie tells him gently, because she did. She knew what Death's standards were back in their world. There was really nothing around them that could be fortified. That could be made battle ready for them. "Come on, Aric, lets see what we can find. Then we'll find supplies as we need them. That way we can fortify our home."

"Fine."

That's something she could help with, at the very least. She could grow a garden that would help them and the patrons around the city.

Evie didn't want to even think about what would happen if something tampered with her abilities. If she couldn't make the plants and trees grow. The very idea chilled her to the bone and she could feel the Empress' anger deep down as well. "Lets hope not. For now? Lets just see if there's anything to our liking."

She walks by his side and scans the area around them, frowning slightly. Nothing was jumping out at her. These buildings seemed to be inhabited or didn't look like something that would work for them. For a moment, she's about to call it quits when she sees a little place not that far from them," What about that one, Aric?" It looked abandoned and they could easily go check it out, make sure it worked for them.

"Let's check it out," he relents.

Evangeline didn't expect any place in this new world to impress Aric. Not when she knows what he's used to. What they're used to. Which makes her wonder if they'll be able to fortify the place to their liking.
A part of her wants to take his hand, but she doesn't. She'll give him the bit of space that he needs. So she merely gives a nod when he relents and moves towars the abandoned house, opening the door. Some part of her is scared that something is there but another part of her isn't. So she merely shakes her head and waits for him before heading inside.

He sighs heavily as he starts exploring silently. It's not any worse than anything else they'd seen.

It's not that she doesn't value her own life or his, it's that she didn't sense anything either. Though she wouldn't of been able to sense what he does. The place reminded her of the homes back in their world. Ones that were abandoned and decaying. There's a part of her that expects to run into baggers somewhere, but that never happens.
While he starts exploring one part of the house she starts exploring another. It was weird that the place was completely and utterly deserted, especially with all the people within the town itself.

But it could be a start.
"I suppose that it will have to do."
