Good morning! It's another fine sunny day in Hadriel, and what's more, there's a good chance that you've woken up with something new and interesting in your possession - something you've never seen before. Something, in fact, that doesn't even belong to you. That's right, the Door is acting up again and it seems to be pulling things from everyone's world and dropping them into the laps (and homes) of strangers.
When you touch whatever it is you've found, you'll get a brief glimpse through the eyes of the person it belongs to, a glimpse of whatever they're doing at that exact moment. Maybe you'll see them eating breakfast, or walking through the streets of Hadriel, or checking out their own sweet ass in the mirror. That last one might be the best, because then you'll immediately know who this strange striped hoodie or weird book or priceless artifact belongs to. Otherwise, you're just gonna have to try to figure out from context, so - good luck with that!
And of course, you might also catch on to the fact that if things are arriving for lots of other people, something also might have arrived for you. Maybe you should search the city until you find it? Or you can hang out at home and hope whoever has it finds you. Your choice! Well, as long as it isn't something super cool that they'll want to keep. That would be awkward.► This log covers March 14th-19th.
► Feel free to make your own logs, as well
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If someone gets really mad about you ending up with their favorite hoodie, please let us know here.

They're pretty strange, huh?
( She's seen enough monsters back home, but that doesn't stop the things here seeming weird.
But, never mind that. Serah is squinting, not only because of the sun but because she's trying to figure out if she's right in what she's remembering. )
Have we... met?
no subject
But then she looks Serah up and down, frowning.]
Uh... don't think so? I think I'd remember your hair.
no subject
Guess I've seen you around.
( It's not the best told lie in history, but believable enough. )
I'm Serah. ( If Julie doesn't know her, she will now. ) What's your name?
no subject
Julie.
[That really is some pink hair.]
Sssso... was that magic?
no subject
Erm...Yeah. ( She nods. Just some normal Fire spells nbd. ) I'm still kind of new to it.
no subject
She's open to new ideas, sure, but magic has always felt like something you should either have or you don't, and...]
How's that? [She hums, loosely folding her arms.] Magic's not a... thing, where I'm from, so...
no subject
It used to be that magic was only available to certain people. But that all changed three years ago. Now magic is pretty normal where I'm from.
no subject
[Slight of hand, mirror tricks, it's nothing like what she just saw Serah do. It's harder than maybe it ought to be, in a place like this, to get her head around that actually being real magic.]
But, uh... what changed? That's a pretty big change.
no subject
I don't know exactly. Everything changed when the Fal'Cie Orphan was destroyed. Some of us moved to the planet below, but I don't know if that's the sole cause, you know?
no subject
Was I meant to understand any of that?
no subject
( It's not that she forgot, exactly, that the worlds are different and there's a lot about her world others won't understand. It's just that it's a long, long explanation. One which she only has a lot of second hand information for. )
Well, the Fal'Cie were a lot like the gods here. They gave us everything - like light and food. When... one of them was destroyed, all of them lost their powers. Without that, we had to find our own ways of survival. People moved to the planet below to start new lives. ...I'm not sure what caused the magic. I'd guess it's something about our new planet, but...
( Who knows. Maybe it was destroying Orphan. )
no subject
['The planet below' she'd said. That makes it sound like a moon. For Julie, it all sounds like something out of a fantasy book, and so far removed from the realities of her own life.]
Did the Fal'Cie mess with you like these ones do?
no subject
No. They didn't use our emotions or anything. I guess... we were more like pets.
( Or sacrificial lambs. Same thing, right? )
no subject
[Julie makes a face. It's not a particularly impressed one.]
Wow. I'm not sure if that's actually worse.
no subject
( She's been here a while but it's still hard to draw a proper conclusion about that. Honestly, Serah hasn't tried either. The similarities are enough without judging which is worse.
But, with that said, she goes quiet and scans the horizon for a moment. There's nothing around and it's getting late. She turns back to Julie, her own mind made up. )
Do you wanna head back?
no subject
... Yeah, sure. Let's go.
