am I the caller of your keep
Who: Guardsmen & you!
What: A open catch-all for the Guard HQ for the month.
Where: Guard HQ
When: March 10th – April 9th
Warnings: TBA
A month after construction finished, the Guard HQ is in great shape. While it retains an air of newness, it's also starting to look settled into.
A sofa by the entrance, in clear sight of the office off to the right, provides a place for visitors to wait if they wish to speak with a guardsman. The office itself is made up of a variety of scavenged tables and chairs, inconsistent in style but providing every guardsman a space to do paperwork and occupy while manning headquarters. Beyond the office is a small meeting room, as well as a separate lounge for guardsmen to socialise and eat in, filled with a handful of comfortable chairs and a low table. Off to the left side of the building is a large, open training area, for guardsmen to train, spar and offer lessons within, safe from the overbearing heat outside. Beyond that is a storage room. A set of stairs at the back lead up to the roof, which serves as the northern watchtower. Like the standalone watchtowers that cover the other cardinal directions, it provides shelter from the elements as well as windows that allow a clear view, wide enough to be shot or fired from with ranged weapons.
The front door is always unlocked.

Right now, however, her steps are purposeful, tracking into the office and finding Nick at a desk covered in... parts and a hand. Well, then. Unfortunately the clinic doesn't carry a First Aid for Robots kit. )
You guys need any first aid kits?
( So why not just ask the question she came here to ask. )
\o/
Not today, thanks. Though I guess you could consider that a good thing.
[He offers her a smile, gesturing to the chair across from his desk.]
If you've got a second and don't helping me, I could use a hand.

Veering back on topic, however, Kate nods at the information, her expression hardly changing as she takes the offered seat opposite, glancing briefly at the collection of parts on the desk and back up to Nick with raised brows. )
Looks that way.
( Kate no that's a terrible joke on your deadpan voice. )

You keeping busy these days?

Always stuff to do.
( The small busy tasks which don't really feel like they're help as much as they are something to keep herself from going insane with the boredom now that the buildings have been remade and the city is mostly quiet. Nothing she spent her time training back home to do, nothing that couldn't easily be left or done by anyone-
But we digress, and Kate rolls a shoulder in a shrug before turning the question around. )
Seems like you've been.
( Keeping busy, that is. From what she's seen when she comes into the neighbouring building, whether to talk or practice, he always seems to be doing something, the picture of concentration as he does. )

[Especially with Rey not being herself lately. Keeping his mind occupied is just the way he copes. Though the fact that they live together isn't exactly a secret, Nick has kept relatively tight-lipped about how he feels regarding Safronov's post on the network -- and the implications of it.
He holds some wires in place, giving Kate access to one of the screws in his wrist.]

The post in question was certainly strange, though Kate lacks any of the context beyond "something was up with Rey." Is up? She's not sure where the Speakeasy's creator is at the moment, what's going on there. )
These days? ( There's a hint of lightness to her tone, just enough to stop it sounding entirely flat. Keeping busy is something she seeks to achieve as often as possible here, if only to stop going stir crazy in the dilapidated city. )

Yeah. Got to keep the streets clear and people safe.
[A lot of folks might not realize Hope's protections have been missing, but the Guard certainly has. It's their job to keep the monsters from wandering too far into town. While Nick doesn't do as much patrolling as he'd like, he makes sure someone does, if the rolls of maps behind his desk are a sign.]

Wonder how much longer we're stuck like this.
( It's easy to know Hope does a lot, but the state of the city without his presence is starkly bland. The food all tastes dull and there's not nearly enough of anything in the stores. )
