Event log: How Delightful
Who: Anyone and everyone!
What: Delight's resurrection.
Where: Throughout the city, starting in the bar.
When: March 23rd-April 3rd
Warnings: Partying too hard, poor life choices, underage drinking, the worst hangovers of all time.
What: Delight's resurrection.
Where: Throughout the city, starting in the bar.
When: March 23rd-April 3rd
Warnings: Partying too hard, poor life choices, underage drinking, the worst hangovers of all time.
On the morning of March 23rd, bright and early, Delight is resurrected. Her temple is restored, and her bar appears in the city. What does that mean? Well, obviously it's time to celebrate. We hope everyone brought their party shoes! From March 23rd to March 27th, the party will be mostly contained in and around Delight's bar, with an invitation from the goddess herself. But it won't be long before she decides that's just not good enough - gotta bring the party to the people! From March 28th to April 3rd, the natural light is dimmed and replaced with flashing colored lights, fireworks, and even a few disco balls. Loud music blares through the city, making it hard to sleep, and a wide variety of trouble is available to be gotten into.
Wanna drink away the pain of being trapped in a hellcave? There's unlimited amounts of alcohol of all kinds, and Delight will be happy to supply anything that might be missing. More interested in karaoke-ing your heart out? Hit up one of the jukeboxes. Enjoy gleeful displays of your own mortality? Here's a skateboard and a ramp, have fun. There's just about anything you could desire, as long as what you desire is to party hard and make bad decisions. And hey, if you find yourself getting tired, grab one (or five) of Delight's special energy shots. They'll eliminate your need for sleep, food, water, cure an oncoming hangover and immediately relax any sore muscles you've got for 24 hours per shot! There's no down side! (Except for all the effects coming back to hit you at once when the shot wears off, but whatever.)
After about a week and a half of tequila shots, keg stands, roman candle battles, tagging the city with free spraypaint, inappropriate party games, and balloon hats made to look like rocket ships (wait... that's not a rocket ship), Delight realizes everyone's partied out and starts to wind things down. On April 3rd, she'll clean up the city, removing everything except for a few remaining fireworks and disco balls, stored in her temple. Her bar will still be around, if you can stand to even look at liquor after all the poor choices you made. Otherwise, lay in bed and try to recover from your hangover while the city goes back to normal.► This log covers March 23rd-April 3rd.

April 3rd
Rey, however, is not. She's never been invited to parties, never partook in festivities at bars, and she sure as hell has never quite been this drunk before.
Lucky for her, she doesn't sleep that often. The music and the noise doesn't even phase her that much. When you've spent enough time on battlefields to the raucous noise of active gun charges and mortar, the sound of constant partying isn't so bad. It just... makes her jumpier more so than usual.
Having wandered away from the festivities, she makes her way to the riverside to check up on her dam. Perhaps even work on it a little while she's being the "all work, no play" insomniac that she is.
Until she notices a blue pile passed out by the waters.
Hands in the pockets of her cargo pants, Rey saunters towards the sleeping alien and judges him with the toe of her boot to make sure he's still alive.
"Hey," she says to the creature, her voice a little softer and more hoarse than one might expect coming from a face like hers. "Are you dead?"
Rather than waiting patiently for an answer, she peers a little closer to make sure whether or not he's even breathing still.

Whether his quiet, half-conscious "noooo" is a response to Rey's question or simply him protesting everything that's happening in this exact situation is not entirely clear.

Rey had seen what happened to the people who were winding down on those drinks, and decided to stay away from them. As someone who is used to two mere hours of sleep, she's somehow managed to figure out how to stay on her own two feet without them. It's a miracle that she's managed to escape the hangovers and the migraines in wake of the celebrations.

The alien's head rolls around in the grass and one eye cracks open to the tiniest green sliver, then widens. His body tenses up--it's about the only movement he can manage in this condition--and he lets out a garbled noise of surprise, his mind still too foggy to really put up anything coherent.
"another NUDGE of her boot", oops
She stops. Blinks.
"Taking that as a 'yes', then."
i gotcha!!

"Delight's shots. Figured you might've taken a few."
Rey, on the other hand, spared herself of the regrettable experience.

"...Couldn't get away from... from the noise. From the chaos. Couldn't even s-sleep," Glacius says, his face going unfocused again. "Took something that... allevi... all... ah, got rid of the problem. Not so simple. Should've known." How damn careless of him to ingest an unknown substance and then assume everything was going to be peachy. When he's back to being himself he's going to seriously kick himself for this one, for a variety of reasons. Right now he's still too out of it to have that sort of presence of mind; it hasn't even clicked that there's what appears to be a human looking down on him.

Not that Rey can necessarily blame him. Most things need a few decent hours of rest in order to feel better about their life. She doesn't hit him with her boot this time and instead hooks her foot around the other heel, somewhat standing there on one leg. Her hands link behind her back.
Judging by his anecdote, it sounds like Rey's suspicions have been confirmed.
"Well, now you look like roadkill," she points out with a shrug. "It happens."

"I need actual rest," he realizes belatedly, "Somewhere... not here. Somewhere peaceful, where no one will stumble over me as you have, I..." Now he tilts his head back to look up at Rey, and not just at her boots, which are at his eye-level considering that he's prone on the ground. And then his body tenses again, a look of surprise overtaking his groggy features. "...Uh. Y-you're human." And not running from him or trying to cart him off somewhere while he's incapacitated? Sooner or later he's going to have to get used to this, but given how new he is to the city and how impaired his higher thought processes are, it's still throwing him for a loop.

The point is driven home when he assumes her species. She blinks, about to let him in on the fact that Delight has called a merciful end to the celebration of her resurrection and instead tightens her lips into a straight line.
"Not quite," she flatly retorts. "But if it's peace you want, think you can go home now. Wherever that is."
He doesn't look like any of the cave-dwelling creatures she's seen come in through the Door.

"So... there's no more partying?" the alien's blank look changes to a plaintive one, like he's being delivered from some horrible fate. Please, please let him be free from this hell.
no subject
She sighs, retreating a step from the alien.
"No more partying," she confirms. "Looks like it ended a couple hours ago."

Rey then pauses a moment, before getting an even closer look at the alien. She inspects his anatomy, from his blue exterior to his spikes. It's definitely different from the creatures she has seen. Plus the fact that he's capable of speaking English. That's new.
"Do you need help getting somewhere? You look like shit."

... But even though all he wants is to find some quiet, secluded place he still isn't moving. His limbs work sluggishly, but they still feel like they've got massive weights holding them down. All of his energy has effectively left him, given that he hasn't taken any time to recharge it ever since he discovered those shots. About all he feels capable of doing is melting down into a puddle... which wouldn't help him get anywhere, but maybe it would make other people pass him by, saving him further embarrassment.

Even Rey can see that Glacius looks like death. Maybe not bad enough that he needs to be rushed to a medical facility, and certainly nothing that a few hours of good rest can't fix. But still.
She straightens her posture, her hands still in her pockets. "You don't look like you're going anywhere."
no subject
"If I... ask for your help... you have to promise you're not going try and lock me up somewhere." Never mind the fact that if that was her goal, she likely would have done it already, rather than waking him up and conversing with him. Old experiences have some fears ingrained into him, but maybe letting himself accept help from someone will aid in beginning to break down those barriers.
no subject
"Why would anyone want to do that?" She then huffs and shakes her head. "Know what? Never mind. Just come on, we'll find you a bed."
As she says this, she's taking him by the arm and helping to pull him onto his feet. Glacius might notice that, for someone who is human-shaped and definitely much shorter than him, she's much more solid than she appears.

Thankfully, Rey is proving to be a surprisingly effective anchor. Though the alien doesn't mean to pile his weight on her, there's not much that can be done about it given his condition. "I... I am sorry about this. Normally I am not so... so..." he gestures aimlessly for a moment, then gives up, too tired to come up with the proper words. "...So... impaired."
no subject
"You don't have to apologize. You're not the only one in the city who got fucked up from all of this." Rey somehow managed to make it through in one piece. Of course, that's also due to her avoiding Delight's magical yellow shots. Looking at the way it affected even this guy, she can't help but think how she certainly dodged that bullet.

Not like she's much better, anyway.
"How do you even ingest the stuff without a mouth, anyway?"
Such an invasive query may be a lapse in judgement on Rey's part.

Curiosity sated, she moves them forward.
"Where do you live?" It'll be easier to direct them if she knows which direction to go.
