What: The event log for the A Hope for the Future event
Where: All over the city!

It's finally time to reap the rewards you've earned from all that hard work collecting and returning the Hope orbs! Be careful walking the streets during the small earthquakes, but feel free to admire the scenery as your beautiful city reassembles its way back into its former glory.

There are new houses where the destroyed buildings once were, and they're perfect for a single person or pair of lovebirds. In addition, you'll find that the electricity to these new houses, and all other homes and shops in the city is restored. The food is better, the monsters are gone- hey, this city might be livable again!

To cap it all off, we've got a feast waiting for you on the 19th! Come one, come all, and enjoy all of your favorite foods, drinks, and party games. It's been awhile since we've all gotten together to celebrate something good, so get your party on and toss all your troubles away!

[Well, if it isn't Charles. What a pleasant surprise.]

What can I say? I just can't let someone else steal my idea.

[He jokes and when he picks up another rose he offers it to Charles instead of adding it to his own pile.]

[ With a short laugh, he accepts the gift, fiddling with the stem idly for a moment before setting it down on the table. He'll leave that for Edgar, if he wants them so badly. ]

Maybe it's a compliment, someone appreciates your taste.

[ Maybe literally. ]

It's a gift for you. [He nods at the rose on table. He has already plenty.] It's a form of love than you can see and touch. The people who're truly lucky are the ones who have someone who they can give a rose.

[After saying that he turns his head to take another deep smell of the roses, gently stroking the soft texture of a petal with his fingertips.]

It's more than just a 'taste.' It's home. My family used to grow roses, you see.

Well...I appreciate it.

[ That's unusual and nice. ]

Though I have to say, I don't think anyone's given me flowers before.

[ ...wow, this guy is really into roses, though. ]

In that case, shouldn't you keep it, after all? They're obviously important to you.

Then more reasons for you to keep it. I already have a plenty. [He places the roses down on the table and in lack of a ribbon h starts wrapping napkins around the end of them.]

Just be careful that the thorns won't prick your fingers. They can be surprisingly sharp.

Ah, if you insist.

[ He holds up a gloved hand. ]

These are pretty thick, don't worry.

You'd be surprised. [He flashes a sharp smile at the gloves. He's not entirely sure whether he approves them or not. It's smart to keep wearing something like that, it's protection. But then again, part of him does find it frustrating. It minimizes the chance for accidents.]

Have you found anything you like yet?

[ If only he knew that it was also great protection from vampire attacks. Unfortunately, that's one of those things he's never really thought about much. ]

I already ate, so I guess you could say that.

[ It's a lie, of course, but whatever. ]

Other than the decorations, have you found anything good?

Some from here and there, I suppose. [He shrugs vaguely, telling yet anther lie.]

I've tried few things from several tables, whatever looks and smells appetizing. As for their true quality? That's little harder for me to answer. You see, I don't taste.

[ Well, that's...not what he expected to hear. ]

Like...at all?

Well, let's say I don't taste things the same way most people do. I can smell perfectly well after all.

Huh. Eating must be boring for you, in that case.

[ That's pretty weird though. ]

I wouldn't go as far as saying that. [He smiles at that. Oh, if he only knew how exciting can eating be to him when a right kind of meal is presented.]

What kind of food did you find? You don't look like someone who eats much.

[ If only he knew, indeed. ]

Ha, I guess I don't. I usually only ate food I cooked myself, so I don't think it'd be anything worth serving here.

[That earns a small raise of brows from him.]

Don't you believe in our hosts cooking skills? Or do you have any other reason to doubt them?

Haha, it's not like that, I'm sure everything's fine.

[ Shrugs. ]

Although I think we have plenty of reasons to doubt them.

Ah well. That is true. [He nods. Anyone calling themselves a 'god' is just shady af.] Bringing us here only to take our energy without consent like a bunch of blood suckers doesn't really win points.

[And yes, he is completely aware of the irony.]

But I still can't help but wonder. Why would you think this food as 'unworthy', then?

This is probably the best use of our energy I've seen so far, if that says anything.

[ It probably doesn't. ]

Ah, no, this food isn't-- my own cooking would be, in comparison.

Really now. Wouldn't you rather to keep it yourself or at least want to be asked if they could use it?

[He frowns a little, not quite following him.]

I'm afraid I don't understand.

Of course I'd prefer it, but if we're not given the choice, it's at least better to have them use it for something like this than...I don't know, something worse. I'm sure you could think of something, right?

[ He waves off the rest. ]

Never mind, I'm bad at explaining.
