What: The event log for the A Hope for the Future event
Where: All over the city!

Warnings: Stealth Rock
It's finally time to reap the rewards you've earned from all that hard work collecting and returning the Hope orbs! Be careful walking the streets during the small earthquakes, but feel free to admire the scenery as your beautiful city reassembles its way back into its former glory.
There are new houses where the destroyed buildings once were, and they're perfect for a single person or pair of lovebirds. In addition, you'll find that the electricity to these new houses, and all other homes and shops in the city is restored. The food is better, the monsters are gone- hey, this city might be livable again!
To cap it all off, we've got a feast waiting for you on the 19th! Come one, come all, and enjoy all of your favorite foods, drinks, and party games. It's been awhile since we've all gotten together to celebrate something good, so get your party on and toss all your troubles away!► This log covers April 14th-April 19th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If you get hit by levitating rubble or eat a food that wasn't meant for you, please let us know here.

[Like this coffee, for example. Perfection in a cup. A comfort she has enjoyed longer than most, it seems to be something that has lingered from one lifetime to the next where so much else has faded or been overwritten.]
Which isn't to say that self-control is useless. Far from it - but there's no harm in enjoying the best things in life when there's no consequence for doing so.
[Speaking of which-]
Did you already eat, then?
no subject
[ Which is. A weird thing to think about. ]
Anyway, I did. Which is why I had to turn down your generous offer.
[ He did not, actually, but like. Whatever. Not like she cares. ]
no subject
They won't, probably, but allow her a little optimism for now.]
So, what. You ate, saw me, and just wanted to sit down and hang out?
[Who does that nobody does that]
no subject
Of course. Shouldn't we get along now?
no subject
[Okay now she is genuinely and thoroughly confused because either Charles is actually completely mentally fucked or playing one of the weirdest jokes she's ever experienced.
She stares at him for a moment, black eyes searching for any sort of meaning, then picks up her coffee and just. Has a drink. Just give her a second.]
Charles, you realize if we weren't here, if we had been anywhere else, without these asshole creatures that want everything to think they're gods, you would have been completely and utterly destroyed by now, right? There would be nothing left of you. I would be thriving off power drawn from eating your soul. You get that, right?
no subject
[ Oh my god... she actually thinks he's serious.
...although being totally, permanently, never-coming-back dead sounds.........really, really nice. ]
no subject
Sure. All right, Charles. You can't die here, nor can anyone else, but I can still cause you an awful lot of pain. I don't know why you're here right now, interrupting my meal. But if you're not careful, I'll add you to it. Would you like that?
no subject
[ See, he cares about her well-being. ]
And if we're all stuck here, unable to die, wouldn't it be better just to play along?
no subject
Nobody ever achieves anything by playing along. What would that even accomplish?
[She looks like she's about to say more, but then stops herself. Charles, you've just accidentally given her a brilliant idea. About everything, about this whole entire situation, about everyone being trapped between the false gods and the constructs that call them parasites.
An idea she doesn't want to share or even let on that she's had, so Caedra instead dissolves the knife with a wave of her hand and returns to her coffee.]
I hate this place.
no subject
You'd be surprised what it can accomplish. Or what barriers not playing along will throw up in your way.
[ For example: his terrible daughter, who decided to make everyone else's lives miserable. ]
...I don't think many people particularly enjoy it here.
no subject
No, and yet they don't do much about it, do they? They just live out their lives and wait for things to happen to them.
no subject
Not that it seems like something you'd do.
no subject
[Surely he must want something in life. Otherwise he's just a waste of space. Free blood should she ever need it for a ritual, maybe. Should chain him up somewhere and he can enjoy living out his life in the misery he apparently expects.]
no subject
[ Although there was only so much he could do in the House. ]
no subject
[She's never even seen this kid show any sign of emotion other than grim acceptance and what might also just be general boredom. What would it take to make him actually angry? Not that it's even worth trying, probably unless she herself becomes that desperate for entertainment and that's hard to picture.]
no subject
[ Gosh, Caedra, it's like you don't like...talk to people about their emotions. ]
Though it's true that we can't all be like you.
[ We can't all murder our problems. ]
no subject
Fine, Charles. I actually don't really care either way. If most people, you or others, prefer to sit around twiddling their thumbs then they will get a lot less accomplished but I suppose that just means I accomplish more. Someone has to.
no subject
[ In mock-concern: ]
...you have, right?
no subject
[No, really, she has. She's learned a lot about constructs and phones and other bits and pieces of technology and is busy writing up a summary for when she returns home. She's begun exploring the interests and abilities of some of the people here, to determine who is a threat and who might actually be helpful to her goals. And most of all, she did an initial test and found that the Abyss does reach here, even if its grasp is weak. She was able to draw other tanar'ri through. That's big - that's promising. She can send for help. She just has to figure out how to get a message, or herself, through in the other direction now.]
no subject
Oh? Good for you.
[ Somehow, he manages to sound almost genuine. He isn't, but he sounds like he is. ]
no subject
Go find someone else to bother.
[And if he doesn't follow that recommendation, well - she doesn't want to cause a stir at this nice party but she can certainly move both of them somewhere else.]
