Warnings: Stealth Rock
It's finally time to reap the rewards you've earned from all that hard work collecting and returning the Hope orbs! Be careful walking the streets during the small earthquakes, but feel free to admire the scenery as your beautiful city reassembles its way back into its former glory.
There are new houses where the destroyed buildings once were, and they're perfect for a single person or pair of lovebirds. In addition, you'll find that the electricity to these new houses, and all other homes and shops in the city is restored. The food is better, the monsters are gone- hey, this city might be livable again!
To cap it all off, we've got a feast waiting for you on the 19th! Come one, come all, and enjoy all of your favorite foods, drinks, and party games. It's been awhile since we've all gotten together to celebrate something good, so get your party on and toss all your troubles away!► This log covers April 14th-April 19th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If you get hit by levitating rubble or eat a food that wasn't meant for you, please let us know here.

Well, she's pretty sure, anyway.
And you know what? Seeing your killer try wasabi for the first time is really satisfying.
"It's an acquired taste." Undead or alive, that's still true. "Do I want to know what those wormy things are, or am I better off sticking with 'slugs'?"

"They're soul larvae. When a mortal dies, their soul gets turned into one of these if they didn't serve one of the gods in life. These ones are dead though, unfortunately, they're better alive. But they're delicious! Really, I'll trade, those dumplings look tasty," she says with a broad smile. "I can't imagine you're really on a diet anyway, your crazy rage frenzy thing must burn a lot of energy."
Wink. She isn't fully sure what that transformation was, of course, but it was very, very interesting.

That... sounds fake. But then again, so did zombies until Rita saw one for the first time. Maybe people do have souls. Except her dad. He's an asshole.
With her back against a metaphorical wall here regarding her zombiedom, Rita almost panics (a true rarity) and says the first thing that comes to mind when Caedra insists on trading food. Then she mentions the Romero rage, and Rita finds an out.
"No, sorry." She doesn't sound sorry, and she doesn't look it as she dips another dumpling in wasabi. "These are specially made to keep me ready to rage out at any time. I guess you could call it my survival instinct, enhanced."
That said, she pops the dumpling in her mouth and makes a show of savoring it. Sweet, sweet brains. Thanks, Hope.

"Well! Then I can see why you want them to yourself. I've seen warriors experience intense rampages like that plenty of times, you know. Charging forward, tearing limb from limb, it must be such a rush for you."
She says it like she thirsts for it - and she does. The blood and violence she imagines in the moment strikes that deepest of chords within her. If she hadn't been shown that taste of what the gods could do to her, this whole feast would have been a charred heap of bodies and gore, she's quite certain. She can picture it well.

"Oh, it is." Let's be real, she definitely dreams of killing her dad the way he left her to die. It's not what Rita wants most -- that would be luxury and pleasure -- but it's up there. "I feel invincible."
The fear only kicks in after the fact.

She can't resist asking the question. Honestly, where she's from, it's a very normal conversation starter, though you can never expect anyone to answer honestly. Still, it makes for some entertaining stories sometimes.
no subject
Her conscience is clear, but Liv and friends might ascribe all those death to her anyway.
"I have to say I'm impressed you took me down at all."
She wasn't lucid for their fight, so she doesn't recall the details. Zombies aren't exactly hard to kill if you know how to do it, so the fact that Caedra managed it says that the tiny woman with the sword is not someone to be messed with.

Caedra wouldn't consider their encounter a fair fight. Rita is strong, but without spellcasting it's just too hard to evenly match Caedra's abilities. Still, Rita does probably have endurance going for her since the casting is pretty draining and she can only do so much of it.
Not that it matters too much either way, but sizing people up and evaluating their strengths and weaknesses is just good practice. You never now who will turn on you next.

As for her kill count? She considers that for a second.
"One." The Romero that killed Dr. Lockett and made Rita what she is. She'd killed it as a human, with only a stiletto for a weapon. Pretty badass, in retrospect. "I'm very picky." Not untrue. "I was going for my second when I woke up here."
Rude. Killing Vaughn would've been deeply satisfying.
"I'll get the guy if I ever go back home."
no subject
And actually the ones who are chosen arbiters of justice bother her the most.
"Well, I hope you get him."
no subject
"I try to make people do what I want through other means." Secrets, lies, and threats, mostly. "I like tp use my energy wisely. And, really? The law? You can't trust the law to do what has to be done."
If she only did what's legal, she'd never have any fun. And anyway, her dad's the real culprit, and she's rich because of that.
"Oh, I will. I always get what I want." She doesn't need the vote of confidence, but knowing the woman who killed her is rooting for her is kind of nice, weirdly enough.
no subject
"Whatever gets the job done, right? It just seems like a shame to let that power of yours go unused. But - I suppose your second kill won't see it coming." Ah, and that confidence. She appreciates that in people, even if instinct also makes her want to crush it utterly, to show these creatures how worthless they ultimately are.
no subject
"I want him to see it coming. I want him to know he's going to die horribly, just like he deserves."
Revenge is kind of a family trait, just like the casual way she says that.
no subject
See, the thought hadn't necessarily occurred to Caedra that this is a personal sort of murder. Hers so rarely are - or when they are personal, they're the immediate reaction to some flippant insult from a creature that doesn't know its place. But now she leans in a little, curious. What has the berzerker so riled up that she wants someone dead, but waited to kill him so that his death would be so perfect?
no subject
"He left me to die. Smiled at me as he let the door close on me." It's a memory that still makes her angry, and probably will until she gets back at him. "I don't take betrayal lightly."
He taught her that, is what makes it so ironic.
"You can't run a business well if you just forgive that kind of behavior.
no subject
"And what sort of business do you run?"
no subject
Just like the answer to Caedra's question.
"What, and completely exhaust every topic for polite conversation so soon?" Rita shakes her head. "I'm gonna get a drink, maybe mingle a little. I'm sure we'll meet up again."
Hopefully without anymore murder.
no subject
But Caedra shrugs. "Go on, then," she says. "You'll just owe me a story."
