Event Log: A Hope for the Future

What: The event log for the A Hope for the Future event
Where: All over the city!
When: April 15th-April 19th
Warnings: Stealth Rock

It's finally time to reap the rewards you've earned from all that hard work collecting and returning the Hope orbs! Be careful walking the streets during the small earthquakes, but feel free to admire the scenery as your beautiful city reassembles its way back into its former glory.

There are new houses where the destroyed buildings once were, and they're perfect for a single person or pair of lovebirds. In addition, you'll find that the electricity to these new houses, and all other homes and shops in the city is restored. The food is better, the monsters are gone- hey, this city might be livable again!

To cap it all off, we've got a feast waiting for you on the 19th! Come one, come all, and enjoy all of your favorite foods, drinks, and party games. It's been awhile since we've all gotten together to celebrate something good, so get your party on and toss all your troubles away!

[There's only so many misspellings and emoticons that he can take in one night. He puts the phone away in his pocket and considers just going home. But the thought of all of the texts waiting for him in the morning aren't worth it.

With an audible sigh, he sets his half-finished plate on the table and walks up behind Atem. He stops several steps behind his back.]

You're enjoying yourself.

[puzzlingly]

「He hears the words, he doesn't turn completely, but it's obvious he heard something, he tilts his head as if he was trying to understand what is going on, he stares at his phone for one confusing moment before he starts typing again.」

「Beep, goes Kaiba's phone.」

[allthecards]

[He watches Atem's confusion in silence. He knows he was heard. What the hell?

He sighs when his phone goes off wondering what now.]

...

...

[Nope that's definitely another drunk text from his greatest rival.]

Are you joking?!

[puzzlingly]

「Okay, that did not come from the phone! Atem turns around until he finally looks behind him.

He beams.」

Kaiba! You came! Here, drink with me.

「And a goblet of wine is offered from all that distance.」

[allthecards]

[Makes no move to to take the wine or come closer. Crosses his arms and just tries to make sense of what he's seeing.]

What are you doing Yugi?

[As if it isn't obvious.]

[puzzlingly]

「Oh, he forgot about that.

Atem lowers the goblet, the smile completely gone.」

Yugi is not here...

「Excuse him, now he's gonna drink to that.」

[allthecards]

[Yugi was the person he dueled. Atem was the name he learned after the bastard had already left. If Yugi wants to be called something differently he just going to have to directly tell Kaiba, or it's not happening.

And he doesn't feel guilty about the change in demeanor. Not at all. He's stepping closer and grabbing a glass for his own reasons that have nothing to do with Atem.]

[puzzlingly]

「Fortunately for Kaiba, that's never going to happen, at least not for a long time, there is no reason for Atem to tell him to call him anything different, he was Yugi for long time, thought himself to be so too, that name gave him something when he had nothing and if Kaiba wanted to call him such, it is fine.

What is not fine, is how much he's missing the rightful owner of that name. But this time at least there are no tears coming from him, the taste of the burger had been overwhelming, not entirely in a bad way either but right now, everything feels mostly numb, and that was... ok too.

It takes him a moment to notice that Kaiba wasn't gone and he's grabbing a drink.

Atem doubts, but he raises his own at him.」

[allthecards]

[Kaiba's having enough trouble dealing with these emotions without there being any tears. He raises his glass slightly, but diminishes the gesture by rolling his eyes and shifting uncomfortably.]

You're an annoying drunk.

[puzzlingly]

「That's enough to make a little smile take shape on Atem's lips. That must be even more annoying.」

You too.

[allthecards]

[It is annoying, but a lot more familiar than anything else. He returns the smirk.]

I'm not drunk. Unlike you, I know how to stop after a glass.

[puzzlingly]

「It is so rare to see Kaiba smirk at him without a murderous intent behind it, that Atem stares at him for a bit longer than he intends.」

I know you're not... I mean... you, you used to be.

「Hmm, that's confusing. He just shrugs to himself and drinks a little more.」

[allthecards]

[He has no idea what he's going on about now, and just focuses on the wine instead]

No, I wasn't.

The selection isn't bad, but it's not enough to lose your head over.

[puzzlingly]

That's why because you don't remember. And I know it's not the best but, it's from home.

「Just as they used to make it so long ago, it was a the best they had.」

[allthecards]

You're making less sense than usual.

[Takes a drink of his wine. A small one, he doesnt intend to get Atem-levels of drunk. ]

If you say so. There's no bottle with a label.

[puzzlingly]

You just don't wanna listen to what I'm saying, Seth.

「He does just the same, he also doesn't notice what he just said.」

Didn't you read Love's post? This is the kind of things these gods do.

[He stares sharply at Atem at the wrong name. Oh, he is not putting up with more of that past-life bullshit while talking to a dead pharaoh. He decides to go with his normal procedure of ignoring it until it goes away or he's forced to deal with it.]

Obviously. That's how I knew to come here.

Some gods. They've proved they have access to a kitchen.

[puzzlingly]

「Isn't that what Seth would do anyway? Atem doesn't seem to mind at all, it is the company he appreciates.

But that last comment makes Atem snort and laugh.」

Don't be ridiculous! They don't!

「Because Kaiba is being the ridiculous one, yep.」

[allthecards]

[Kaiba isn't amused by drunk Atem. Definitely nothing endearing about that snort.]

Of course not. Because that would be logical, and you can't be that even when you're not drunk.

[And that was an insult not a tease. Really.]

[puzzlingly]

And yet, you keep putting up with me.

「Said as the chuckles dies out. Take your cute insult and stick it up you know where!」

That's not so logical of you, Set-- 「He squints at him, as if he had some trouble seeing if it is really him, why must you bastards look the same? Well, kind of.」 ... Kaiba? Kaiba...

[allthecards]

[Now he actually doesn't find him endearing. The drunk bastard doesn't even know who he's talking to. That's right, he is Seto Kaiba. Not Seth. And Seto Kaiba doesn't joke around with his rival.

He sets down the wine, blanks his face and sits up taller.]

Hmpf.

[puzzlingly]

「Too bad Atem is too far gone to know what might be bothering his friend. But at least he knows something is bothering him.」

What's wrong?

「Meanwhile he goes for just another glass...」

[allthecards]

[Back to being monosyllabic. There was no sense in replying to inane questions. Instead he stares at Atem letting his expression say everything it needs to about what he thinks about him having another glass.]

[puzzlingly]

「Cue, staring. Then a smile.」

Kaiba, you're gonna have a very hard time in here if you don't loosen up a little.

「Look who is talking, the little hypocrite, if only Kaiba knew. Now watch him drink from that glass! It must be so annoying.」
