What: The event log for the A Hope for the Future event
Where: All over the city!
When: April 15th-April 19th

It's finally time to reap the rewards you've earned from all that hard work collecting and returning the Hope orbs! Be careful walking the streets during the small earthquakes, but feel free to admire the scenery as your beautiful city reassembles its way back into its former glory.

There are new houses where the destroyed buildings once were, and they're perfect for a single person or pair of lovebirds. In addition, you'll find that the electricity to these new houses, and all other homes and shops in the city is restored. The food is better, the monsters are gone- hey, this city might be livable again!

To cap it all off, we've got a feast waiting for you on the 19th! Come one, come all, and enjoy all of your favorite foods, drinks, and party games. It's been awhile since we've all gotten together to celebrate something good, so get your party on and toss all your troubles away!

[ Dany seems to have no issue offering a sip to a (seemingly) child. It isn't as if she means to get the stranger drunk, after all, and she thinks there's no harm in just one taste. ]

No good? [ She asks lightly, and then chuckles. ] To each his own, then.

[ She prefers sweeter wines, but not everyone would agree. Strange that a child would't like that sort of thing, though. ]

Have you been enjoying the feast?

I wouldn't go as far as to say that. [He returns the laughter as he places the glass back down at her table. He gives his upper lip and row of teeth a quick lick, as if to savor the taste of wine.] I'm sure it could be much worse. It just happens I'm not too used to drinks like these.

[Taking the question as sign of welcome he moves even closer to her, around the table to stand next to her.] Quite! I don't remember when was last time I saw this much food in one place. It's like a spectacle.

You seem to have enjoyed yourself too, miss.

Like these? [ She asks, to clarify. Is he used to drinks at all, at that age? ]

I have. I am. [ She looks it, too. ] I didn't trust it at first, and-... I can't say that I trust it now, really. ... But, it hasn't had any ill effects yet.

[ Yet... ]

Alcohol. [He quickly adds. It's only half a lie, he's drank them before sure but unfortunately it never does a thing to him. A little side-effect to being immune to poisons such as alcohol. While some might see it as a pity that he'll never be able to feel intoxicated but Edgar doesn't mind. After all, there is a little point missing something that's never been part of his life.] I haven't had that many chances to try them out.

You don't trust our gods?

Ah. Well, it seems plenty enough, here.

[ It is a feast, after all. What would it be without a drink?

At the question, her mouth thins, and she sets down the cup. ]

No. They may reward us now, but it is only incentive for our more willingly obeying them in the future. I am no slave, and I will not stand idly by as they take advantage of our energies.

True. But I wouldn't want to risk ending up making fool out of myself just because I'm inexperienced. Not when I'm in such charming company. [He lets out a charming laughter, making sure that his words continue to come out as innocent and polite rather than flirt.

But what she says next is much more intriguing than idle chatter. 'I am no slave.' Now that's interesting way to put it. So far no one he's met has had such strong feelings of dislike towards their situation. She's proud and self-aware.]

Obeying? That makes it all sound like they ask more from us than just energy. [Which might not be all too far fetched, he thinks.] But I heard that they're not even really gods.

[ She smiles at his compliment, inclining her head slightly. ]

It depends on your beliefs, I suppose. I hold no gods and do not consider these to be as such. All the same, they have power that cannot be denied, though I will resist it with all that I have. [ There's a pause during which she considers him, smile having faded. ] Were you here when the war was fought against the Null?

No, ma'am.

[His demeanor also falls into more serious from the previous eagerness.]

I've only been here for a relatively short time and only heard of the Null. Did something happen during the attack?

To put it lightly, yes. [ There's a quiet, mirthless scoff. ] A lot of people were killed, and one of the gods was brought down, too. The Null seem soundly intent on destroying them, along with any allies among our ranks that exist, and though we were able to escape that time, we may not be so lucky in the future.

[ The feast is... what, then? A celebration before the future storm? ]

These gods can be killed, so I do not believe them gods. For that, and other, reasons.
