Good morning. [ She remembers the other woman - the soldier - from their first meeting. Content enough to speak with someone familiar, Dany seats herself near Sonya, glancing at the food and drink. ] ... It's safe, then? What they've given us?

[ Sonya seemed like a capable-enough woman: she would know if this were dangerous for them, Dany assumes. ]

[Sonya nodded.] I've been attending this for several days now and felt fine..emotionally as well as physical. [At the very least, she felt no different than usual.]

[She motioned to the platters off to the side.]
Not that magic isn't involved. Somehow or another it tastes like those made by my former drill sergeant, and he's flat out refused to give anyone the recipe for them. [So how this place was able to mimic them had to have had some sort of magic involved.]

There is magic here. If they can bring back the dead, then they can craft food from our memories.

[ And more. It's terrifying, and she doesn't trust it at all, but that doesn't make it not genuine. ]

What was it? [ Dany asks, referring to the platters. ]

Raise a good point. [Somehow, the notion of the gods creating food, when they could bring back the dead, seemed just more disturbing then the former.] Ham and cheese omelets, and the eggs are real, not powdered.

[She wasn't so picky as to refuse any food if that was all she had to deal with, but it only meant she appreciated real food when it came by There's also hashbrowns, and the carafe has coffee-though if you want to try that, you may want to add milk or sugar in it.

[Her preference was more black, but she had no real idea if Daenerys ever tried it before or not, and black coffee took getting used to.

Powdered? [ That isn't a kind of egg she's ever had, though she's far from a food aficionado. ] ... I've never heard of anything that you've described.

[ Coffee, though, she would encounter again later. ]

These are all common in your world?

Eggs that're cooked and put through a dehydrator so they become powered. Easier to transport and more shelf stable. [She went to her own plate.] In my home country, more or less. Just plain eggs and toast are enough, this is usually for when you have time to actually sit down and enjoy a meal.

[Which, was actually rare in her field.]

Dehydrated eggs? [ She's never heard of it, but she can divine the meaning through the language and makes a bit of a face. ] I can understand its... longevity, but is it at all appetizing?

[ It doesn't sound very good, anyway... ]

I imagine that soldiers aren't often allowed the luxury of taking the time for an extended meal.

Not entirely. [She allowed herself a smirk, thinking back to the more infamous jokes on military chow.] They're alright when cooked, and if you squint and eat them fast enough you can't really tell the difference. Military issued food is usually called 'chow' for a reason. You won't starve from it, but that's all you could look forward to.

[Thinking on it, it did occur to her that she usually ate more on leave than when on duty.] And not really, no. Fifteen or twenty minutes is the allotted time. Add in the number of people that need to be fed, and only those with religious or special dietary needs are allowed some flexibility.

Enjoyment of a meal is rarely a priority, but survival always is. [ She frowns slightly, looking at the plates in front of the other woman. ] I'm sure that you've found this to be true time and time again.

[ As a soldier. Dany has been afforded good food throughout her life as a result of her positions, but she hasn't forgotten what it's like to be hungry, to be nearly starving. ]
