Event Log: A Hope for the Future

What: The event log for the A Hope for the Future event
Where: All over the city!

It's finally time to reap the rewards you've earned from all that hard work collecting and returning the Hope orbs! Be careful walking the streets during the small earthquakes, but feel free to admire the scenery as your beautiful city reassembles its way back into its former glory.

There are new houses where the destroyed buildings once were, and they're perfect for a single person or pair of lovebirds. In addition, you'll find that the electricity to these new houses, and all other homes and shops in the city is restored. The food is better, the monsters are gone- hey, this city might be livable again!

To cap it all off, we've got a feast waiting for you on the 19th! Come one, come all, and enjoy all of your favorite foods, drinks, and party games. It's been awhile since we've all gotten together to celebrate something good, so get your party on and toss all your troubles away!

I'm not particularly fond of sweets, but I'm willing to try - do you mind if I cut one in half?

[Rosewater. She remembers the scent of it, one of those phantom memories from another lifetime. A scene comes unbidden, of little dollops of muhallebi tucked away in broken pastry shells, treats her mother stole away for her from the kitchens of a Tocharan noble.

But that - that was someone else's life. A thing she barely has any connection to now.]

[She has a seat across from him and summons her blade as a knife - as always, the thick black ichor seems to pour straight from her wrist into its form, which solidifies, so black it barely reflects the ambient light in the room. She neatly slices one of the little treats in half and pops it in her mouth, and as it melts on her tongue with all its sugar, she laughs a little, eyes watering. She rinses it down with coffee.]

I think I'm going to lose all my teeth if I have any more of that, how can you eat those?

[He offers an only somewhat apologetic smile]

On the contrary, if I could eat only such things without destroying my health I would.

[And as if to make a point he proceeds to pop a large chuck of pink jelly into his mouth as gleefully as would a small child]

Oh, right - your people have diets you have to subsist on! That's why all of this is so special to everyone, isn't it. Not just the chance to have something remarkably good, but - what do most of you actually eat here normally?

[Being a creature that doesn't actually need food sure has its upsides. All of her favorite treats are eaten when she pleases, when she has access to them, but it doesn't pain her to go days without food if she needs to.

Well, it pains her emotionally, maybe. A week without exotic delicacies is a week that deserves to be forgotten.]

[Semiyon smiles easily around the comment. He has, while in the depths of The Iliad or The Divine Comedy, considered what lengths he could have gone in his life if the mortal flesh were not so easily undone]

What do we eat here? Well...mostly what we can scrounge together from the stores. Oddly shaped things with flavors we must guess at. You must find it pretty amusing to watch us.

[She smiles at that as well because yes, yes it is and doesn't she know it. Though at the same time, it's remarkable the sort of brutality a human body can survive sometimes. But that isn't a conversation she wants to have right now. Semiyon seems like such a respectable man and she wouldn't want to put him off his sweets.]

That's all? I have seen those things myself but mostly avoided them. You're right though, you all are amusing when not being everything else humans tend to be. Obtuse, infuriating, pathetic. I admit, it's... difficult to be here, surrounded by your kind. Especially when the younger ones in particular seem to assume I should act and think as they do and get so very offended when I don't make myself suffer to do as they expect.
