What: The event log for the A Hope for the Future event
Where: All over the city!
When: April 15th-April 19th
Warnings: Stealth Rock

It's finally time to reap the rewards you've earned from all that hard work collecting and returning the Hope orbs! Be careful walking the streets during the small earthquakes, but feel free to admire the scenery as your beautiful city reassembles its way back into its former glory.

There are new houses where the destroyed buildings once were, and they're perfect for a single person or pair of lovebirds. In addition, you'll find that the electricity to these new houses, and all other homes and shops in the city is restored. The food is better, the monsters are gone- hey, this city might be livable again!

To cap it all off, we've got a feast waiting for you on the 19th! Come one, come all, and enjoy all of your favorite foods, drinks, and party games. It's been awhile since we've all gotten together to celebrate something good, so get your party on and toss all your troubles away!

[Kelson wondered if there was anything he could do to help her not feel helpless. No one should feel that way. At least not a Queen. But royalty was not a shield as he well knew.]

It means that she likely will not come after you again. By that reasoning, she has many ...toys here. Why play with one she had already played with?

[He knew that was a cold and callous way of looking at it but he felt he needed to be honest. And as a queen, he hoped she was capable of taking it.]

Good. The elves I have met here seem to be very capable.

[the only things that will help her not feel helpless are time, her fighting lessons with Sonya Blade, and her continued practice with the sword]

Perhaps because it was easy to "play with" the first time? Well, no longer. This is the last event I will go unarmed to and I will have to work harder at my lessons with Sonya.

[she doesn't intend on ever being defenseless again]

They are. They have also been very good friends to me in the wake of my. . . mishap.

[Kelson didn't quite know what to say about that. It wasn't that he wasn't used to women being able to defend themselves, he was used to being around at least a few Deryni women who could easily kill with their abilities, but walking around armed was something completely different. Still, at least he was quite good at schooling his own expression to keep it off his face.]

You've been training? With what weapon?

[He was having problems with women wearing jeans. Women training with swords was going to be difficult. He wished Morgan were here, he'd know exactly how to phrase it so the lady wouldn't get offended. Or maybe she would. He knew Morgan kept his relationship with his lady wife sequestered safely in his mind, as it should be. But it meant he wasn't privy to that sort of thing. He looked over her dress. It was too bad it was so hot here, a wrist sheath similar to his would work well, and might not present as much of an overt challenge as a sword. And was much more lady like.]

They seem like good and honorable men. Are you certain their protection isn't enough? A beautiful flower such as yourself shouldn't have to walk around with a weapon.

[aside from Brienne of Tarth, women with weapons are unheard of in Westeros. Margaery was taught to believe that men would shelter her from any aggression. she's learned otherwise here]

Yes, I have. My teacher is. . . gone, but I continue to practice what she showed me. And Ikaruga called it a katana. It's a type of sword.

[she's beyond caring whether or not it's ladylike to go about openly armed. it's a reality of life in Hadriel and she's always proved herself capable of adapting to whatever circumstance presented itself. granted, she's not about to go gallivanting about in jeans the way so many other women here seem to, but she intends on being able to defend herself without having to rely on others all the time]

They cannot be with me every hour of the day. I have to go back to my apartment eventually and there, it's not only me in danger, it's Daenerys, too. I owe it to both of us to be capable of defense.

[The immediate solution that came to Kelson's mind was the obvious need for them to have some sort of male protector, but it also wasn't very seemly for a man to live with two women he was so unattached too. And even if he had ward cubes he certainly couldn't ward them every time one of them went back to their apartment. At the very least it would leave him constantly drained. No, there had to be another solution. One that didn't involve Margaery training with a sword.]

And Daenerys is the one with the dragons, right?

[That was a rather obvious solution. He supposed she didn't have any here of course. As for the sword he wasn't familiar with that kind either. Kelson still hated the idea of her using it.]

[she wouldn't be opposed to him moving in with them should they find a larger place to live, but she still feels obligated to be able to defend herself and Daenerys should the need arise. and she enjoys her martial training. it makes her feel capable which is something she's in dire need of after her experience with the demon]

Yes, she has three. You've met?

[unfortunately, they're not here. a dragon would be terribly useful]

[If she could convince him that it wasn't completely dishonorable for them to be living together, he would be more than happy to move in. As it was, the idea of seeing her coming out of the bath accidentally was currently mortifying.]

No, but her name has come up. I don't suppose the dragons are here?

[...that sounds like a sitcom waiting to happen]

You should meet her. I think you'd like each other. [and she laughs] I wish they were here. They'd make dealing with the likes of that demon so much easier.

[On the other hand, Kelson wouldn't be eating food out of a can. So there's that!]

If you like her I'm sure she's lovely. I would love to meet her. And her dragons would certainly make things easier. Although feeding them would be a problem.

[Margaery can cook now, although it's all vegetarian]

She's quite lovely. I'll have to make arrangements for the two of you to meet. And have you met Sansa?

Feeding the dragons would become a problem. Eventually, they'd run out of monsters.

[How would he fare with that? It might be worse than Lent.]

Oh, I see! Well, you'll have to meet her in person as well. She's grown into an impressive young lady. I knew her a while back in King's Landing.
