Event Log: A Hope for the Future

What: The event log for the A Hope for the Future event
Where: All over the city!
When: April 15th-April 19th

It's finally time to reap the rewards you've earned from all that hard work collecting and returning the Hope orbs! Be careful walking the streets during the small earthquakes, but feel free to admire the scenery as your beautiful city reassembles its way back into its former glory.

There are new houses where the destroyed buildings once were, and they're perfect for a single person or pair of lovebirds. In addition, you'll find that the electricity to these new houses, and all other homes and shops in the city is restored. The food is better, the monsters are gone- hey, this city might be livable again!

To cap it all off, we've got a feast waiting for you on the 19th! Come one, come all, and enjoy all of your favorite foods, drinks, and party games. It's been awhile since we've all gotten together to celebrate something good, so get your party on and toss all your troubles away!

[Rey snorts, going to take a long drink of bourbon she's had poured for herself a bit ago.] Besides the fact that Sorrow was the one most knowledgeable about the Door, not everyone is looking to go home anytime soon, at least.

[God knows she sure as hell isn't, and there are a list of others she can think the same thing applies to as well. Since learning about Rose's fate and the sort of future Nick might have, she's even less enthused by the prospect.]

Sorrow might be the one more likely to talk, since the others have bugs up their foggy asses over that synthetic. [She at least remembers Name through Safronov's memories.]

[this is definitely not the place to be chatting breezily about Name, but Law does like to feel things out when he has a chance.]

No, I'm aware of that. I meant for myself, but in terms of still being stuck here under their thumbs, there are other goals. Getting them weaned off our emotions and onto something else, for one, and then securing an escape. I don't care where anyone goes so long as they can all get away from this hell-blasted rock and the constant manipulation.

[that's probably the most talkative he's been in a while. Blame the rum.]

[Rey is more than happy not to have to talk about Name at the moment. She's too buzzed got that conversation, anyway.]

That's fair. [Another sip. Ugh.] Honestly if they're capable of reviving us as well as their own, it's a wonder why they haven't done the same for their original hosts. But they get touchy as fuck when you try to ask about them.

...really.

[that's new. He would have assumed it was an energy problem, given how much they had to collect for Hope this time around. HMM.]

Well. One more thing for me to needle them over, then. [tossing back the rest of his drink]

[Rey would assume the same thing, though given how Hope was capable of reviving his own kin within three-month intervals, and everyone else here in even quicker times, she presumes it might be something else.]

We do know a few things about them. They weren't humanoids, which would explain the architecture of the original housing units and shit. They also were able to simply feel whatever emotion that the gods needed them to, and were neither very smart nor combat-effective, which made them easy for the Null to wipe out.

Moreover, Nate found the corpse of one of them in the lake, which would imply that their bodies didn't disappear like any of ours do when we die and are resurrected by Hope.

[There are some grim implications there.]

[nodding slowly while looking past her toward the food and drink. He will pour himself something new shortly, but these conversations are what he needs]

Yeah, I heard about that. The remains, that is. [hmm wonder if Michael wants to tag-team an autopsy...] It would be foolish to say we're exploring all options without investigating why that's not one of them, first. Check it off the list and then move on to the next idea.

[When you've been around for so long, it's hard to tell what some people know and what they don't. There's such a turnover and things change so often that it's hard to keep up sometimes.]

Your best bet would probably be to start with Tranquility and Sorrow, once the latter's back. They've been the most candid so far.

[his quiet personal grumble shows exactly what he thinks about Tranquility. But, really, on the scale of one to go fuck yourself, Tranquility is still maybe a 2 compared to Fear or Love.]

Yeah. I'll remember that.

[he'd raise a glass to Rey but it's empty! Leaning over to rectify that now.]

Either way, I'm actually looking forward to doing something useful and not just fishing.

[Sorrow is really the only one Rey can stand. She feels more pity for hope than anything else, and more contempt for the rest.

[Love is still the worst, though. Even after Delight's bullshit. The worst.]

You getting involved with something in particular?

[Rey isn't entirely ignorant to what's been going on, but she's mostly been staying out of things for now. Had enough of her own problems without dealing with the drama between the gods and the Null.]

Don't know, yet. We'll see what happens.

[lies, totally getting in on that Name stuff. The rest is still half-formed plans, though, so it's not completely incorrect.]
