What: The event log for the A Hope for the Future event
Where: All over the city!
When: April 15th-April 19th

It's finally time to reap the rewards you've earned from all that hard work collecting and returning the Hope orbs! Be careful walking the streets during the small earthquakes, but feel free to admire the scenery as your beautiful city reassembles its way back into its former glory.

There are new houses where the destroyed buildings once were, and they're perfect for a single person or pair of lovebirds. In addition, you'll find that the electricity to these new houses, and all other homes and shops in the city is restored. The food is better, the monsters are gone- hey, this city might be livable again!

To cap it all off, we've got a feast waiting for you on the 19th! Come one, come all, and enjoy all of your favorite foods, drinks, and party games. It's been awhile since we've all gotten together to celebrate something good, so get your party on and toss all your troubles away!

There's more where that came from, if you'd like to have a sit for a while. [Seriously. There's like a fucking ton of baskets right in front of her. How has she been able to eat all this by herself so far?

[She could probably go for a glass of wine right now, anyway.]

Don't mind if I do. What else would you recommend? [yes, that is a lot of food. which Rey has seemingly already made a dent in. it all smells really, really good.

all Laura has is beer. very good beer, but beer]

[Hey, beer is pretty A+ even though Rey is more fond of the lager variety. Darker the better.]

Bao's a personal favorite of mine. [She points to the steamed buns with her chopsticks, and then to some of the dumplings.] That shrimp har how and pork shumai are fucking parties in your mouth. And the stuff wrapped in the lotus leaf there is called "lo mai gai", also good shit.

[Laura is used to Budweiser back home, but this stuff makes Budweiser straight out of the park.

...wow. How'd you deal without that stuff? I'd imagine it's hard to make, given what we have to work with when it comes to food.

[Poor Laura. You have no idea. Absolutely none whatsoever.]

Very painfully. [Rey snorts as she takes a drink of bourbon she's had on the side.] Sadly the old place is smashed to shit most likely, so I couldn't go back there even if that were an option.

Several areas became targeted by synthetic assholes who were trying to send a message -- not much different from the Null, really, except I'd take the Null any day. These fuckers hit with biological warfare first. It was messy shit that doesn't make for wholesome dinner conversations.

Mm. So if the place isn't smashed, no one's going to be serving lunch there anytime soon in its current state.

[She snorts as she finishes her drink.]

[she'd offer to set Rey up with the sex and drugs part if she thought Rey would be receptive]

That's too bad. War is hell. At least that's what they say on TV.

[The way Rey is right now, she'd probably throw herself out a window at the offer. She's got 99 problems.]

Well, it sure as hell isn't all glory and freedom like some of the old stories would have you believe.

That's not what my high school American history teacher told me, but he was a dried-up old man who probably should've retired years ago.

Shit, it's been a long time since anyone's called it America. Outside of historical context, anyway. [Snort.] But it wouldn't be surprising if he got a lot of the facts wrong. That was pretty common back in the day.
