What: The event log for the A Hope for the Future event
Where: All over the city!
When: April 15th-April 19th
Warnings: Stealth Rock

It's finally time to reap the rewards you've earned from all that hard work collecting and returning the Hope orbs! Be careful walking the streets during the small earthquakes, but feel free to admire the scenery as your beautiful city reassembles its way back into its former glory.

There are new houses where the destroyed buildings once were, and they're perfect for a single person or pair of lovebirds. In addition, you'll find that the electricity to these new houses, and all other homes and shops in the city is restored. The food is better, the monsters are gone- hey, this city might be livable again!

To cap it all off, we've got a feast waiting for you on the 19th! Come one, come all, and enjoy all of your favorite foods, drinks, and party games. It's been awhile since we've all gotten together to celebrate something good, so get your party on and toss all your troubles away!

( She's definitely going to drink more than is recommended for a person to drink but Kate doesn't plan on dying to liver failure tonight. There's more than enough tequila to go around, anyway, so she hands some over. )

( Said while eyeing up George's plate, even though Kate can't talk with the noises she made upon coming into contact with the first recognisable seafood in months. )

[she takes the tequila and adds it to the orange juice. George, too, will drink far more than anyone should, but it takes as much alcohol to kill a mortal to make George even a little tipsy. there are some benefits to being a Reaper]

Oh hell yeah. It's been way too long since I've had something that wasn't from a can. You?

[George will probably make her way to that later, she's planning to sample a little bit of everything]

( It's a benefit here, where currency isn't a thing, but damn if - thanks to years of habitual practice - Kate doesn't envy the lightweights back home where drinks actually cost money.

A shrug rolls off her shoulders quickly enough. Dating someone who actually knows how to cook means that the majority of her meals are good despite the awful contents of the shops in the last few months, but all the same- )

Missed proper seafood. ... Something like it, I guess.

( Does it count as proper seafood if a god randomly conjured them? )

[yeah, she'd likely have to spend a small fortune on the amount of booze she's had since coming here. she likes this whole communal thing a lot better.

George does not know how to cook. her mother never bothered to teach her. so she basically lives for the days when she finds something like tomato soup in the stores, that's easy enough to make]

I don't blame you. Seafood's great. The fresher, the better.

[yes. yes, it does]

( Kate can... avoid burning things now? And at least make something edible. For the most part, that's all she asks. When things are actually delicious, it's a bit of a bonus. )

Can't get fresher than conjured into existence just now.

[she used to be able to manage Kraft mac n' cheese, but they don't have that at the stores. bummer]

Yeah. Makes me kinda wonder why they make us deal with crappy food the rest of the time, but I guess this is a lot of effort?

( Kate shrugs. You've got her. She still wonders why Hope has to take care of so many of the functions here. As was well proven in the last few months, it's an especially bad system if Hope is too incapacitated to do these things. )

Wonder if we'll be sent on more energy gatherin' missions.

( More cannibalism for the gods, why not? )

[yeah, really gods. share the burden. what, they're good enough to eat emotions from but not good enough to feed?]

Maybe? The ones you guys went on sure seemed to work. I didn't actually go myself 'cause I didn't know who was going, but maybe next time.

[it seemed to go well this time?]

( Hope's the only competent one, spread the news. )

( It's not the most eventful trip, but damn it is nice to get out of the city once in a while. )

this takes George aback for a moment. in a good way. she's not used to being liked and included in stuff] Seriously? Thanks. That would be really cool.

[George would really like the opportunity to get out of town for a bit]

( Doofus is a nice way of putting it. Kate shrugs in response, taking a drink as she does. She has no problem with it, and considering George's powers, she'd be okay with... )

You fight the monsters at the border much?

( That's one way of putting it, Katherine. )

[she has much meaner words in her vocabulary? and George's powers are a largely untapped resource]

No. Should I start? I mean, I have a sword and Henry taught me how to use a dagger.

[it probably wouldn't hurt to try her luck against them?]

( Kate frowns, as though sizing up George as she speaks. She's had some training, and having learned how to use a longbow from Henry, she knows that training would have been intense and thorough. And probably annoying. )

We can practice. ( And then set her on some of the monsters. )

[George can sense herself being judged. it's like her superpower. so she stands a little straighter and tries to look a little more confident]
