Who: All characters participating in the event
What: The event log for the A Hope for the Future event
Where: All over the city!
When: April 15th-April 19th
Warnings: Stealth Rock

It's finally time to reap the rewards you've earned from all that hard work collecting and returning the Hope orbs! Be careful walking the streets during the small earthquakes, but feel free to admire the scenery as your beautiful city reassembles its way back into its former glory.

There are new houses where the destroyed buildings once were, and they're perfect for a single person or pair of lovebirds. In addition, you'll find that the electricity to these new houses, and all other homes and shops in the city is restored. The food is better, the monsters are gone- hey, this city might be livable again!

To cap it all off, we've got a feast waiting for you on the 19th! Come one, come all, and enjoy all of your favorite foods, drinks, and party games. It's been awhile since we've all gotten together to celebrate something good, so get your party on and toss all your troubles away!

► This log covers April 14th-April 19th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If you get hit by levitating rubble or eat a food that wasn't meant for you, please let us know here.

[The amenities don't interest her. She is from the harshest of worlds and yet she lives in luxury. This place is neither - perhaps harsh by the standards of some mortals but hardly anything like what she has become used to over the decades. And the supplies are basic at best.]

Do you have firsthand experience with death here?

[It's just a guess. She doesn't connect the motion to the statement, but she has heard about the Null, and about how so many people were killed. She's curious what the process is like here, because clearly it's different from what she knows.]

( It's not exactly the place Kate would choose to be, but it is survivable. It's better here, out in the open with real sun(s), than it was before. Even with the destroyed buildings.

She never wants to see Hadriel underground again. Never wants to be underground again, not if she can help it.
)

Once. ( It happened. Why bother hiding it. ) ... Dragons.

( Hella explanation there, Kate, great job. )

[To be fair, 'dragons' is a pretty decent explanation for death in a lot of circumstances. Caedra looks at Kate in genuine surprise, though.]

Dragons, here? What kinds? Where have they gone?

[Because as powerful as a few of these people may be, slaying a dragon is no simple task. And she imagines she would have seen their parts in use. Who wouldn't collect the scales, pull out the teeth and claws for tools? The bones, too, would make fine weapons to defend against the other monsters, better than the shoddy selection in the armory.]

( Dragons are a pretty good way to die, yes. Kate hums in thought and springs to another floating rock before answering. )

No idea. ( Dragons aren't a real thing where she's from. They were large and murderous. That's all she knows. ) All got killed.

( The leftovers were definitely used, though. She remembers Richie's pawn shop and the amount of frozen dragon steak that was there, for one. )

[Caedra hangs back. This is a perfectly good vantage point to see what's going on, but also the whole thing is losing her interest quickly. This person barely talks, and the rebuilding of destroyed structures is a bit like watching paint dry. Except worse, because it's unsettling in a vague way. Most people cringe at the sight of destruction and feel more satisfied when things are orderly and neat, but naturally, she feels the opposite.]

Good.

[Yep that's... all she's got. A dead dragon is better than a live one. Kate's wandering off for no real reason and Caedra doesn't feel any real interest in following but at least she's still in earshot. Bored, she lifts a hand and fires a blast of darkness at one of the bricks, and then watches with disappointment as it shatters but seems to recollect itself in midair after a moment.]
