Oh, well, uh... s-sort of! I mean, yes, it's just not so fancy, I guess.

[She has hamburgers, that is. Even if they're not really hamburgers but monster food ones, so made of magic. She's not a monster that has trouble eating solid food, so she can partake here, but most monster food is intangible once eaten. Just goes straight to energy in your body.]
lemontree: (we will find you)

[personal profile] lemontree 2018-05-09 05:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Fancy? [ This isn't especially 'fancy' to her, she thinks... though, she also knows that such indulgent things aren't part of normal meals for most. As such, she admits another smile and tilts her head curiously to Alphys. ]

May I try it?

[She offers up a smile, and produces one from her pocket. It's wrapped up in a paper binding that reads Grillby's with a little fire symbol, and for all intents and purposes, looks like a normal hamburger. The only difference is that it's magic- once you chew and swallow, it's intangible from energy. But it's greasy and well grilled and possibly Alphys' favorite thing.]

Here, uhm-- a g-genuine Grillby's burger. I think there were fries here too... it's, uh, not really so much, but I, uhm, I missed them a lot.
lemontree: (it's my own remorse)

[personal profile] lemontree 2018-05-15 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
[ This is something entirely new, but she remembers Alphys a bit from when they were younger and has no reason to distrust her. Besides, she's also a bit tipsy, and the burger smells... decidedly good. ]

You don't mind my eating it? [ She questions, looking from the food to the person who'd offered it. ] Do you have others, for yourself?
sciencelizard: (« [Confident] I GOT THIS FOR ONCE)

[personal profile] sciencelizard 2018-05-18 06:58 pm (UTC)(link)
[She blushes just a bit, aware of how considerate the other woman is being. She's also just really pretty? This is Alphys' equivalent of I saw a woman so beautiful I started crying, except she has pocket burgers instead of lunch money.]

Oh, it's f-fine! I already, uh, packed some up for later.

[There's like a whole bucket of them in the fridge at her apartment. She is unstoppable.]
lemontree: (nothing ever lasts forever)

[personal profile] lemontree 2018-05-30 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
That was clever of you. [ Dany chuckles. ] ... Very well.

[ And she'll just... go ahead and take a bite, thank you.

... Gods, that's good. ]

- Oh. [ Juicy and flavorful and absolutely delicious. She tries to keep her composure in order to avoid scarfing the burger down. Dany eyes Alphys, swallowing and nodding her head, attempting to appear only mildly pleased. ] This is - very good.
sciencelizard: (« [Joyful] INSERT BAD PUN HERE)

[personal profile] sciencelizard 2018-05-31 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
[She pretty immediately brightens as Dany seems to find any enjoyment in this at all, grin spreading across her face as her hands meet in front of her in a little clap.]

Isn't it?? It's magic, too, so uh, it won't sit wrong in your stomach or whatever-- it'll just give you energy!
lemontree: (it's my own remorse)

[personal profile] lemontree 2018-06-14 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
It's magic? [ Dany quirks a brow, peering at the rest of the food. ] How...?

[ How is that possible? It looks and - she assumes - tastes like real food. Maybe 'magic' is what gives it its flavor? ]
sciencelizard: (« [Wink] ka ka ka kawaii)

[personal profile] sciencelizard 2018-06-16 07:23 pm (UTC)(link)
[She's already bouncing a little with excitement.]

Well, it's made from magic, instead of standard matter, so it disappears as soon as you eat it and instantly converts to energy! Some monsters don't have solid digestion systems for human food so all our food is magic so it can instantly b-be absorbed into the body.

[It's rad and she looks very hype to be explaining that.]
lemontree: (and of pleasure)

[personal profile] lemontree 2018-06-27 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
So, it's made to... seem like food, but it isn't digested. [ h u h ] Are you sure this isn't some kind of - illusion?

[ Magic tricks are much more common than true magic, after all. ... Not that Alphys seems malevolent. ]
sciencelizard: (« [Smile] Everything Is Alright)

[personal profile] sciencelizard 2018-06-28 05:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, n-no, it's just-- it's monster magic. That's how it works. Our bodies, bullets, food, they're extensions of ourselves that can be absorbed by others. It's all the, uh, same structure anyway.

[She's no biologist, but she knows the basics.]

I promise, I'm not, uhm, p-playing a joke. That's really how it works.
lemontree: (nothing ever lasts forever)

[personal profile] lemontree 2018-07-10 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
[ It's a bit over her head, but Dany listens and nods silently, trying to make more sense of it. ]

I... may not understand it completely, but I thank you for trying to explain it. It really is incredible how different our worlds our, how... much there is to know that is beyond our reach.
sciencelizard: (« [Shy] I'm not that great...)

[personal profile] sciencelizard 2018-07-13 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
[At least she's trying to understand it. Alphys always assumed most humans wouldn't even care. It's kind of nice.]

H-Heh. Yeah. I uh, I always kinda thought monsters were really common, but a lot of other worlds don't, uhm, have them. But I mean, how could I know about o-other worlds, right?? After all. But as long as we talk to each other, it's not so hard.
lemontree: (it's my own remorse)

[personal profile] lemontree 2018-07-19 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
"Monster" has an unpleasant meaning, where I come from. [ "As long as we talk to each other, it's not so hard." If only that were true everywhere. ] I hope that the others in Hadriel will be kind to you, and to the others from your world.

[ She knows all about "monsters," being the Mother of Dragons. ]
sciencelizard: (« [Flattered] w-who--what--me???)

[personal profile] sciencelizard 2018-07-20 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, it's fine, really! It's just the t-technical name of my species. It's not offensive, though uh, some people have thought I was insulting myself.

[She's not caught up on it, really.]

Don't worry. Most people here are, uhm, super nice about it.
lemontree: (nothing ever lasts forever)

[personal profile] lemontree 2018-07-31 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
I see. [ She smiles a little more easily and offers a single, understanding nod. ] Are there humans in your world, too? Or only monsters?
sciencelizard: (« [Explain] elementary my dear MTT)

[personal profile] sciencelizard 2018-08-11 05:05 am (UTC)(link)
There are humans! I mean, there are, I just haven't gotten to talk to many. O-Or, I didn't before I came here. Humans live on the Surface, and uhm, Monsters live in the Underground. So not a lot ever came down there, or could, so...

[She just shrugs. It's been a while, now. This place is as much normal as her home is.]

But I've seen a lot of humans here. And other kinds of species that don't exist at home!
lemontree: (it's my own remorse)

[personal profile] lemontree 2018-08-16 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)
You aren't alone in that, I think. [ The humans in Hadriel are exotic enough without even factoring non-humans into the equation. ] I've never seen so many interesting people. - And monsters.

[ There's a little bit of an indulgent smile at that. ]

Why is it that you live underground?
sciencelizard: (« [Shy] I'm not that great...)

[personal profile] sciencelizard 2018-08-21 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
[It's almost strange to be asked something like that- even though she's been here for years and been questioned many times, it still feels like something that should just be common knowledge. But she's not Underground anymore. It's something new.

She looks a little sheepish as she answers.]

Well... h-humans kind of sealed us down there, after a big war a long time ago. We've been working to get out, of course, it just... hasn't happened yet. Or uhm, hadn't when I got here. Maybe that's different now, uh-- who knows!
lemontree: (welcome to your life)

[personal profile] lemontree 2018-08-28 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Sealed you? [ Her heart leaps into her throat as she thinks of her dragons - her children - sealed by Dany herself within the vaults of Mereen so that they could harm no more children. She swallows with difficulty, trying to keep her face impassive. ] ... I see. It seems that war follows us all from our worlds to this one.

[ Hopefully it will have stopped in Hadriel, now that they've escaped the Null... but, it's unlikely. ]
sciencelizard: (« [Worry] oh jeez rick i dunno abt this)

[personal profile] sciencelizard 2018-09-04 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
[She nods, looking away, afraid she's struck a nerve.]

It is... kind of depressing, sometimes. We don't see it a lot here, I mean-- the Null only made it into the city proper once. But the threat is there. It's why we have to keep moving.

[Maybe it's time for a topic change.]

Have you been here long enough to see the city move? Or remember when we were underground? Not uh, we as in monsters, but everyone here.
lemontree: (there's a room)

[personal profile] lemontree 2018-09-06 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
I do remember. [ She hadn't liked the cavern-city, though. At least the scorching heat is more familiar. ] It was... confining.

[ Claustrophobic, she means. How could anyone bear to live that way for long? ]

I have been here for about a year's time. Now that the city has moved once, I wonder if it will be shifted again, as the threat continues to hunt us.
sciencelizard: (« [Heartwarming] Just This Once)

[personal profile] sciencelizard 2018-09-07 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
[Alphys taps her claws together, thinking about that prospect.]

It is-- I mean, I b-bet so. But it's kind of... exciting, right?

[From a woman who came from somewhere with no adventure, to here... she has something to reach for.]

I mean, it's hard, and unsafe, and-- and dangerous! But it... it's further than I ever thought I'd go.

[It's harder being in a story than she thought. But she wants to believe it's exciting. That it's an adventure.]
lemontree: (it's my own remorse)

[personal profile] lemontree 2018-09-09 02:19 pm (UTC)(link)
It is. [ Dany admits, and there's a tiny smile. ] I will say that part of it is... exciting, yes. To see so many places that I would never see otherwise.

[ She's been confined to Essos her whole life, and there's something strangely freeing about being moved against her power to caverns, deserts, islands. Where will they bring us next? ]

If we can keep each other safe, then - perhaps all this isn't so terrible.
sciencelizard: (« [Blush] Awww guys)

[personal profile] sciencelizard 2018-09-12 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
[She smiles, wider than she had before.]

I think so. And we can have nice, uhm, times like this, right? Times where we can eat and talk and, h-have a good time! So... yeah!

It was nice to meet you. So I think this was worth it.
