What: The event log for the A Hope for the Future event
Where: All over the city!

Warnings: Stealth Rock
It's finally time to reap the rewards you've earned from all that hard work collecting and returning the Hope orbs! Be careful walking the streets during the small earthquakes, but feel free to admire the scenery as your beautiful city reassembles its way back into its former glory.
There are new houses where the destroyed buildings once were, and they're perfect for a single person or pair of lovebirds. In addition, you'll find that the electricity to these new houses, and all other homes and shops in the city is restored. The food is better, the monsters are gone- hey, this city might be livable again!
To cap it all off, we've got a feast waiting for you on the 19th! Come one, come all, and enjoy all of your favorite foods, drinks, and party games. It's been awhile since we've all gotten together to celebrate something good, so get your party on and toss all your troubles away!► This log covers April 14th-April 19th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If you get hit by levitating rubble or eat a food that wasn't meant for you, please let us know here.

[She has hamburgers, that is. Even if they're not really hamburgers but monster food ones, so made of magic. She's not a monster that has trouble eating solid food, so she can partake here, but most monster food is intangible once eaten. Just goes straight to energy in your body.]
no subject
May I try it?
no subject
Here, uhm-- a g-genuine Grillby's burger. I think there were fries here too... it's, uh, not really so much, but I, uhm, I missed them a lot.
no subject
You don't mind my eating it? [ She questions, looking from the food to the person who'd offered it. ] Do you have others, for yourself?
no subject
Oh, it's f-fine! I already, uh, packed some up for later.
[There's like a whole bucket of them in the fridge at her apartment. She is unstoppable.]
no subject
[ And she'll just... go ahead and take a bite, thank you.
... Gods, that's good. ]
- Oh. [ Juicy and flavorful and absolutely delicious. She tries to keep her composure in order to avoid scarfing the burger down. Dany eyes Alphys, swallowing and nodding her head, attempting to appear only mildly pleased. ] This is - very good.
no subject
Isn't it?? It's magic, too, so uh, it won't sit wrong in your stomach or whatever-- it'll just give you energy!
no subject
[ How is that possible? It looks and - she assumes - tastes like real food. Maybe 'magic' is what gives it its flavor? ]
no subject
Well, it's made from magic, instead of standard matter, so it disappears as soon as you eat it and instantly converts to energy! Some monsters don't have solid digestion systems for human food so all our food is magic so it can instantly b-be absorbed into the body.
[It's rad and she looks very hype to be explaining that.]
no subject
[ Magic tricks are much more common than true magic, after all. ... Not that Alphys seems malevolent. ]
no subject
[She's no biologist, but she knows the basics.]
I promise, I'm not, uhm, p-playing a joke. That's really how it works.
no subject
I... may not understand it completely, but I thank you for trying to explain it. It really is incredible how different our worlds our, how... much there is to know that is beyond our reach.
no subject
H-Heh. Yeah. I uh, I always kinda thought monsters were really common, but a lot of other worlds don't, uhm, have them. But I mean, how could I know about o-other worlds, right?? After all. But as long as we talk to each other, it's not so hard.
no subject
[ She knows all about "monsters," being the Mother of Dragons. ]
no subject
[She's not caught up on it, really.]
Don't worry. Most people here are, uhm, super nice about it.
no subject
no subject
[She just shrugs. It's been a while, now. This place is as much normal as her home is.]
But I've seen a lot of humans here. And other kinds of species that don't exist at home!
no subject
[ There's a little bit of an indulgent smile at that. ]
Why is it that you live underground?
no subject
She looks a little sheepish as she answers.]
Well... h-humans kind of sealed us down there, after a big war a long time ago. We've been working to get out, of course, it just... hasn't happened yet. Or uhm, hadn't when I got here. Maybe that's different now, uh-- who knows!
no subject
[ Hopefully it will have stopped in Hadriel, now that they've escaped the Null... but, it's unlikely. ]
no subject
It is... kind of depressing, sometimes. We don't see it a lot here, I mean-- the Null only made it into the city proper once. But the threat is there. It's why we have to keep moving.
[Maybe it's time for a topic change.]
Have you been here long enough to see the city move? Or remember when we were underground? Not uh, we as in monsters, but everyone here.
no subject
[ Claustrophobic, she means. How could anyone bear to live that way for long? ]
I have been here for about a year's time. Now that the city has moved once, I wonder if it will be shifted again, as the threat continues to hunt us.
no subject
It is-- I mean, I b-bet so. But it's kind of... exciting, right?
[From a woman who came from somewhere with no adventure, to here... she has something to reach for.]
I mean, it's hard, and unsafe, and-- and dangerous! But it... it's further than I ever thought I'd go.
[It's harder being in a story than she thought. But she wants to believe it's exciting. That it's an adventure.]
no subject
[ She's been confined to Essos her whole life, and there's something strangely freeing about being moved against her power to caverns, deserts, islands. Where will they bring us next? ]
If we can keep each other safe, then - perhaps all this isn't so terrible.
no subject
I think so. And we can have nice, uhm, times like this, right? Times where we can eat and talk and, h-have a good time! So... yeah!
It was nice to meet you. So I think this was worth it.
