What: The event log for the A Hope for the Future event
Where: All over the city!
When: April 15th-April 19th

It's finally time to reap the rewards you've earned from all that hard work collecting and returning the Hope orbs! Be careful walking the streets during the small earthquakes, but feel free to admire the scenery as your beautiful city reassembles its way back into its former glory.

There are new houses where the destroyed buildings once were, and they're perfect for a single person or pair of lovebirds. In addition, you'll find that the electricity to these new houses, and all other homes and shops in the city is restored. The food is better, the monsters are gone- hey, this city might be livable again!

To cap it all off, we've got a feast waiting for you on the 19th! Come one, come all, and enjoy all of your favorite foods, drinks, and party games. It's been awhile since we've all gotten together to celebrate something good, so get your party on and toss all your troubles away!

Ah, yeah. I've seen it in some restaurants, never had it. My partner is more of a... junk food lover. Burgers and that kind of gourmet food, you know.

「Has he ever told her about him? Probably not.

He chuckles.」

Hey, I'm about to eat almost all of these by myself, I wouldn't blame you if you did the same.

「A mini burger, though... He smiles as he takes one.」

「Omnomnomnom.」

[Abigail chuckles.]

There's nothing wrong with a little indulgence. Although homemade's always better than fast food. So, you have a partner? Someone here?

[She hopes that's the situation and not another case of separated loved ones.]

It tastes better if you share the food though.

[Another one of Hannibal's teachings - he did so love his dinner parties.]

Thanks. I think you do too. Those were good falafel.

「Ah, yep she'd ask, of course.」

Yeah... but, he's-- He's back home.

「It's worse and a bit more complicated than that, actually. But he just covers that with a little shrug.」

Hmm, you're right, it does taste better when you share it with a friend. It's weird, I've never thought about that.

Oh. I'm sorry. Maybe he'll be brought here.

[She gives him a small smile.]

Hannibal used to throw huge dinner parties. Everyone would come and share in the meal.

[Almost everyone. She heard the parties from her hiding spot.]

I really hope not. Though... another friend was brought here recently.

「He tries to return the smile but it's not quite there, as much as he misses his friends, he'd rather not have them around here. But this is not the first time he's heard that name coming from her either.」

He's here, right? Your friend?

That's something then. You have someone from home.

[Abigail's smile fades and she looks down at her plate.]

No. He was here for a little while, but he's gone now. He's been gone a long time.

「From home... hmm that's questionable. From a different universe maybe, but how does he explain that?」

Sorry... Are you by yourself now?

Will's here, but

[She pauses.]

He doesn't remember me being here when Hannibal was here. And it's not the same. Hannibal made it seem like we'd all be family right away. But life doesn't work like that.

Hmm, I get that... My friend doesn't remember a lot of things that we went through.

「That's an interesting thing to say, though.」

What do you mean?

I lived with Hannibal back home, in his basement most of the time. He told me all about these new lives we would create and that we'd be a family with Will. And we'd go running off to Europe together. We'd be safe and free.

[She concentrates on the good memories of that, and not the way Hannibal wanted her to 'hunt' with him.]

But that was just what Hannibal told me. I can't expect Will to live up to Hannibal's promises. It wouldn't be fair. I have to get to know him for him.

In his basement? 「He's not sure how that'd be a good thing but... He won't prod, much.」

Well, they are different people after all. Is he a good friend to you?

Yeah, it was safe there. No windows so no one could see me.

He is. He saved me way back when I first got here, but he doesn't remember that either.

Hmm, people often are brought by the Door at different times...

「He really wants to ask! But...

Okay here goes nothing.」

Were you hiding?

[Abigail nods.]

Yeah, I had to hide, to be safe. We needed time, so Hannibal could set everything up for our escape to Europe.

[She still believe everything she was told.]

We were about to leave when I was brought here.

Were you... running from your father?

「He cannot blame her, and since he doesn't know better, he has to believe her as well.」

[Abigail shakes her head.]

No, this was after my parents died. I only met Hannibal that day and he became my guardian when I was in the hospital.

[At least, he told her that she could say he was his guardian. She's not sure it was ever legally official.]

「Atem can't help a bit of a sad stare at he looks at her. They shouldn't be talking about these things... or, maybe she needs it. He tries to give her a little smile.」

Maybe when you're back you'll get to Europe with him. Egypt is not so far from there... You should visit it too.

Maybe.

[Abigail looks down at her plate.]

He was from further in the future than I was. He didn't say anything, but I had the feeling our travels didn't happen.

「Oh.」

Do you know why?

[She shakes her head.]

No. I have ideas, but I never asked him about it. It didn't seem right.

Maybe it's better not to know. Say, do you like drinking?

「This calls for a drink.」

[Abigail glances back at the buffet.]

Depends on the drink. Have you seen any nice wines here? Or a beer?
