It's finally time to reap the rewards you've earned from all that hard work collecting and returning the Hope orbs! Be careful walking the streets during the small earthquakes, but feel free to admire the scenery as your beautiful city reassembles its way back into its former glory.

[She nods a little at his explanation. Seems unbothered, largely uninterested.]

That explains a few things, then. Odd to hear of a god that spans multiple worlds, but they're out there, I'm sure. Not important, just a curiosity.

[She picks up another soul larva and dunks it in butter.]

You're really missing out when it comes to food, if you limit yourself to the dead. I thought wolves dragged off children and rabbits and things all the time, to be eaten still hot.

[Oof. That hits a nerve. Tucker has to work to control his reaction, keep it as neutral as possible.]

We don't eat children. We're not animals.

[But it's common enough for people to think they are. His people are basically maligned as a whole, but none as much as those who turn into large predators. They get lumped in with werewolves, and, almost worse, with the predators themselves.]

Rabbits, sure. But eating one is pretty difficult when it's still kicking and screaming.

Oh, is that something only animals do? How could I be so mistaken.

[Yeah of course there's no sarcasm there whatsoever. But she shrugs, unbothered, as she eats. And is mildly appreciative that the gods didn't decide to provide her with one. They're quite good and she views them about the same as one might view veal. They're just not her favorite, is all. Plus, it would make too much of a stir for her to be left in peace while eating.]

I swear I've seen creatures hold others down and tear chunks out of them while still alive if they're too big to eat in one bite. I guess it depends on your goal - filling your stomach as quickly as you can, or enjoying a more leisurely but less kicky meal. Personal preference, maybe.

Sure, maybe you've seen animals do that. But like I said, I'm not an animal.

[Well, it's possible she's seen demons or other things do that, too, but he's not those, either.]

And if you've seen sentient people doing that shit, then that just makes them an asshole, it's not something they do as like, a race.

It's practical and effective. You don't need to try to bring morality into it. I've heard gnolls eat like that sometimes, they're intelligent mortals. Well - no less intelligent than most of you, I mean.

[No she genuinely doesn't see the problem, just thinks it's funny that others get so squeamish about it. It's not something she cares to do often since it's rare something is small enough for it to count as 'practical and effective' for her, but clearly the soul larvae are an example.]

Okay, but that just proves my point. Most gnolls are assholes.

[He's not gonna say they all are. But he's never met one that wasn't.]

Like fine, I get it, people got different kinds of morality. But from where I'm standing? Assholes.

[She shrugs. Doesn't make much difference to her what he thinks of gnolls. They seem reasonable by her standards. Maybe that's the problem.

But this conversation has gotten boring fast and she smiles once again with a wink.]

Well, don't dismiss it until you've tried it. What if you end up liking it! I give eating live creatures my full recommendation.

All things considered, no offense, but I think that might be a good reason I shouldn't.

[Taking recommendations from the demon who summoned monsters and murdered people is uh, not the best life plan, in his opinion.]
