What: The event log for the A Hope for the Future event
Where: All over the city!
When: April 15th-April 19th

It's finally time to reap the rewards you've earned from all that hard work collecting and returning the Hope orbs! Be careful walking the streets during the small earthquakes, but feel free to admire the scenery as your beautiful city reassembles its way back into its former glory.

There are new houses where the destroyed buildings once were, and they're perfect for a single person or pair of lovebirds. In addition, you'll find that the electricity to these new houses, and all other homes and shops in the city is restored. The food is better, the monsters are gone- hey, this city might be livable again!

To cap it all off, we've got a feast waiting for you on the 19th! Come one, come all, and enjoy all of your favorite foods, drinks, and party games. It's been awhile since we've all gotten together to celebrate something good, so get your party on and toss all your troubles away!

Yeah, a little bit. [She shrugs again. In all honesty, finding the brushes had been harder than finding the paint.]

I want to paint the walls in my room, too. Something I did back home... but I'd need a lot more for that. And not, y'know, watercolours.

Yeah, I can't imagine watercolors would work too well for that.

[He thinks about it a moment.]

You could probably convince one of the gods to trade you for it, if you're willing to do that. Otherwise one of the magic users might be able to make paint; I mean, if they can summon fireballs out of nowhere, surely paint can't be that hard.

[Right? Maybe?]

Ugh, don't really want to start owing those guys anything. [Not 'gods'. She'll never call them that, though she still hasn't settled on a word to actually call them. 'Parasites', while apt, doesn't sit right with her when she's spoken to one of them by this point and found him to be pleasant enough.

Still doesn't mean she's going to go to them for help, though.]

And I dunno if elemental magic is the same thing as summoning paint. Guess it's worth an ask...

Fair enough; I haven't taken any of them up on the option of deals either.

[Because he also doesn't want to owe them anything, even if it's a fair trade and not a favor; it's still a line he's not sure he wants to cross.]

Yeah, I don't exactly know how all of it works just yet, it just does seems weird that something like that is easy but making paint wouldn't be. But yeah, it's worth a try, though if you ask the network just... You know, be careful.

[Because some of the people here are sketch, to the say the least; he's sure she knows that, but he still has to say it.]

[At least they can agree on one thing. She arches a brow at him, then huffs out a breath through her nose and looks down at her food. Somehow, it doesn't seem as appetising as it did ten minutes ago.]

You mean in case I get some crazy witch or a homicidal demon instead of someone who actually wants to help me?

[She saw the mess. She kept far away from it.]

Yeah, I'll be careful.

Yeah.

[But he's glad she's going to be careful, and also that she doesn't seem too annoyed about the reminder. Although, he does have to comment--]

Is it as weird for you as it is for me to have to actually be worrying about demons? Like literal demons.

[Every so often the weirdness of this place stands out to him once again, no matter how much he thinks he's used to it.]

It's not so different to worry about literal zombies. [She tells him with a shrug, twirling her fork around in her food and lifting a little out of the bowl.]

At least demons won't turn you into one of them, or eat you. They'll just kill you.

[S h r u g.

She pops the fork into her mouth, as if to keep herself from saying anything more for the moment.]

[Well that provides a little more info on her issues, definitely, but Lance doesn't linger on the response so as not to make her feel awkward.]

I guess so. Maybe it's different for me because I've gotten used to zombies and vampires and werewolves and whatever from being here, but demons are kind of new.

'Used to them'. [Julie echoes quietly with a quiet snort. Used to them? That's a funny way of putting it.

The zombie issue doesn't even scratch the surface.]

It's just more shit on top of the shit we're already dealing with. What's one more thing on the list of 'stuff that will kill us but we're putting up with it because we don't have a choice'?

I don't know, I just find it less depressing to marvel at what new, creative danger has shown up.

[As opposed to just accepting it, although he's mostly joking; she's not wrong, after all, and in the end they really don't have any choice but to just add it to the list. But he doesn't want to think about that so much, for many reasons.]

But right now I'd prefer to marvel at the food, so I'm going to go see what else I can find. Thanks for the pad thai; it was awesome.

[And he means that genuinely.]
