Warnings: Stealth Rock
It's finally time to reap the rewards you've earned from all that hard work collecting and returning the Hope orbs! Be careful walking the streets during the small earthquakes, but feel free to admire the scenery as your beautiful city reassembles its way back into its former glory.
There are new houses where the destroyed buildings once were, and they're perfect for a single person or pair of lovebirds. In addition, you'll find that the electricity to these new houses, and all other homes and shops in the city is restored. The food is better, the monsters are gone- hey, this city might be livable again!
To cap it all off, we've got a feast waiting for you on the 19th! Come one, come all, and enjoy all of your favorite foods, drinks, and party games. It's been awhile since we've all gotten together to celebrate something good, so get your party on and toss all your troubles away!► This log covers April 14th-April 19th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If you get hit by levitating rubble or eat a food that wasn't meant for you, please let us know here.

[He thinks about it, counting back the times. Man, he's been here too long.]
Maybe every time we do something the gods think is nice for them, or when they feel bad about what they put us through.
no subject
Then... maybe we should start making our own. ( She laughs, but it would be a nice way to get to know others. Sure, there's the Speakeasy's offerings when the Door opens, but why stop there? )

[He's not really the party type, and is mostly here for the free food, but that doesn't mean she's had a bad idea.]
Especially if they could drink.
no subject
Yeah. ( People really, really like their alcohol here, she's noticed. ) There's a lot of big drinkers here, isn't there?
no subject
Yeah. I mean, to be fair, sometimes there's not much else to do. At least, if you're not the volunteering sort.
[There's always something to help with, if you look, but that's not for everyone.]

I wonder what the people who lived here before us did. ( Did they have restaurants? Hangouts? New Bodhum might be a little higgledy-piggledy, may not by as bustling with life as the cities on Cocoon were, but they found things to do. Lebreau would cook, serve drinks to people. They'd lie on the beach and play games, go swimming. Watch the fishermen and learn to use magic. Serah would teach the kids... )
You know, we used to have a fireworks show back home. Every year. People would come together and watch and make a wish.
( It was such a lovely event. Serah never realised she'd see her last one when she was there, days before the Purge began. )

[At least, from what little they know about the creatures who used to live alongside the gods. Adam is interested - he has a scientific mind, he'd love to learn more. But there just isn't that much, a few remains and some buildings and a bunch of gods he mostly tries not to talk to.
He grins a little at the rest of her story, though.]
There's a holiday the day after my birthday, Independence Day. Everyone sets off fireworks for it. When I was really little, I thought they might be for me.
[That didn't last long, but it's one of the few nicer memories of his childhood he has.]
Did they do it for a special occasion, where you're from?
no subject
Adam's story makes her laugh, makes her think about Lightning. Her birthday was around the time of the fireworks festival too. )
Hm... I think it started that way, but it just became a big tourist draw instead.
no subject
[It sounds like a festival every night, or at least most nights. That probably got old if you lived there, if you saw it all the time, but for visitors? It'd probably be worth it. So Adam would like to think, anyway.]
Did you have something you wished for?
no subject
... Well, to pass my exams, things like that.
( Does her voice sound unusually tight as she says that? Yeah, kinda. )
no subject
Ah, yeah. The important stuff. Did it work?
no subject
Yeah, exactly. ( A laugh. Exams are important. )
It must have. I got into my first choice university.
( And never got to attend. )
no subject
[His tone is rather wry. If he were at home, he'd probably be a couple years in by now, but for some reason they don't have higher education in mysterious alien cities.]
What were you going to study?
no subject
History. ( She always had been fascinated with the paths that led their world to where it was. And now, she supposes, she was part of it. An instigator.
She teaches the children of New Bodhum about the things which happened when Cocoon fell, but never the names. Never that her name is tied to all of it. )
What do you want to study?
no subject
[Though Gansey would likely be delighted by that. Adam's never been quite as obsessed, for all that he helped with the search and did plenty of research on his own.]
I was thinking of engineering, or maybe medicine. I like science, and I like solving problems.
no subject
But her eyes are bright with happiness at his chosen subjects, in a way which belies her teaching since Cocoon fell. A twinkle of something like pride, a joy felt when people have big dreams for their future like Medicine or Engineering. It's so easy to get caught up in the way the world goes, in the misfortunes of their lives, and lose that chance. )
Well, I hope you get to do that.
no subject
[For now, hope might be all they can do. Adam is not naturally the optimistic sort, but he does nuture the small belief that they'll all get home someday, that he'll be able to go back to what passed for his life.
Until then, they just have to make the best of this sometimes awful, sometimes decent place.]
I should find my friend. [Before Ronan gets in a fight, somehow.] It was nice talking to you, though.
