What: The event log for the A Hope for the Future event
Where: All over the city!
When: April 15th-April 19th
Warnings: Stealth Rock

It's finally time to reap the rewards you've earned from all that hard work collecting and returning the Hope orbs! Be careful walking the streets during the small earthquakes, but feel free to admire the scenery as your beautiful city reassembles its way back into its former glory.

There are new houses where the destroyed buildings once were, and they're perfect for a single person or pair of lovebirds. In addition, you'll find that the electricity to these new houses, and all other homes and shops in the city is restored. The food is better, the monsters are gone- hey, this city might be livable again!

To cap it all off, we've got a feast waiting for you on the 19th! Come one, come all, and enjoy all of your favorite foods, drinks, and party games. It's been awhile since we've all gotten together to celebrate something good, so get your party on and toss all your troubles away!

[Her face twists into a frown. True, she has been watching everyone else eat to pin down what they could take for later. True, she makes people eat whatever's offered to her first. But it's different. They were just people, not one of her own.]

Can't we just see if someone else takes it? If I take you back sick, the others are gonna think I'm bad at keepin' an eye on you.

Others'd be backwards thinking you need to be the one keeping an eye on me. [He chides her gently, lightly ruffling a hand over her hair. It isn't like it used to be, yet the gesture remains the same.]

Besides, already seen other people take it. Just thinking of you.

Other's be runnin' blind if they didn't think we all needed an eye on us in a place like this. [She ducks under his hand, lips pursed. She shakes her head when he lifts his hand, as though she had enough hair to jostle back into place.]

I know you're tryin' to help and I trust you. You say that it's safe 'cause you saw people eat it, I believe you. [Anything he says, she'd believe without question.] But you can't offer to get yourself in trouble 'cause of me.

[Jet laughs. It's not a boisterous sound, more a soft exhale of amusement attached to a smile. He looks at her gently, and rather than going for her hair again places a broad hand on her slim shoulder.]

You can always refuse, sunshine, but I'll always be making the offer.

[Simply put, he'll do almost anything for her. Her, and the boys.]

[She smiles, brightened by the noise. He's been here for weeks now, but Girl still isn't used to hearing him laugh again. It's a small bright spot in all the strange dealings going on around them.]

I know. [She saw proof of how far they'd go. It's what scares her so much. It's what keeps her staring at the ceiling at night.] 'm just sayin' you don't need too. I'm not lil' anymore. I can help out.

Think you're always gonna be little to me. [He tells her kindly. She might be grown up - a strong, feisty woman just like her mother was - but Jet remembers her so clearly as a child that it's hard to replace that image with who walks beside him now.

It's probably just what being a parent feels like.]

Try to remember, just don't get too mad if I forget, hey?

[She wants to argue with that but the words dies before they can reach her lips. Watching someone change is a gradual thing and that's something that was stolen from them. She's appeared back in his life a different person that what left it.] Guess that's the problem with bein' even smaller than Ghoul.

[If she can't find a way to refute it, she can just joke it away.]

I'm not gonna be mad. Unlike some people I don't got a short fuse.

'Unlike some people', huh? [Jet laughs again, and when they reach the table he doesn't waste any time at all in cutting a couple of pieces of cake for them to take away with them.]

You dragging Party Poison? Don't worry, won't say a word.

[Little firecracker does have the temper of a particularly grouchy sand-snake.]

[She grins, reaching childishly for the cake the second he has a piece cut away.]

I could say something 'bout him bein' the first one you thought of. [Not that she would. Maybe if Ghoul had been the one to say it.] But gettin' him fired up 'bout something so small might not be the worst thing. Better than bein' lit up 'bout this place.

[She's worried about him. She worries about all of them, but with how awkward things had been with Party he's the one keeping her up at night nowadays.]

Say it how it is. [Party is always going to be the first one he thinks of when statements like that one come up. The guy's a bomb waiting to go off at almost all times.

But he shares her worry, even if he doesn't say it. This place has been a lot to take in, and he knows his friend still blames himself for the deaths of all of them.]

... You two doing okay?

No way. I know when to pick my battles. [She doesn't really, and she more than knows Jet isn't the type to rat her out, but Girl's got enough trouble on her plate without slighting Party any more. She already feels like all her progress is being made on thin ice. One step too hard and it'll shatter again.

She knows Jet's the type to understand that too.]

I want it to be okay. Like it used to be. I think he wants that too. But it's different.

Yeah.

[He wouldn't rat her out, but he won't press her to tell him more than she wants to, either. It's always been that way with them - she'll come to him when she needs him, and he'll be there.

Party's a difficult one, so much of the time. It can be hard to understand what he really wants, but he thinks the girl has the right of it here.]

Keep your chin up, sunshine. He'll come around.

[She gives him a small, crooked smile. She knows he's right, hopes he's right. Party can't keep circling around the problem forever. Things will get better because they have to.]

And you'll keep an eye on 'im in the meantime?

Always do, don't I?

[It's always been his part to play. Never a great shot, never one to pitch in the best ideas for a plan, but damn if he couldn't keep them all steady when they were close to going off the tracks.]

Don't worry your head over that, my girl.

Yeah, I know.

[She hips checks him, affection in her eyes. That's why he was the one she always went to to talk, to puzzle things out. He was the guiding hand they needed to keep on course.]

I'll try and keep my head in the right now instead thinkin' 'bout it. [A small promise that she doesn't know it she can keep. But she'll try.] Come on, cake's better than worryin' anyway.
