Sorrow's back! That's great, except for the sudden wave of sorrow and regret blanketing the city. And boy is it strong. It's hard to think about anything except all the times you've hurt someone, let someone down, failed. It's hard to get through your day while your mind is full of those thoughts, but you have to, right? Otherwise you might be letting someone else down.
Everything would feel a lot better if you could just find a way to make up for what you've done. A way to earn forgiveness. Do you deserve it? Maybe not, but if you can figure out the right thing to do, it won't matter - you'll make up for all the wrongs you committed and everything will be fine. So what will you do? Clean your friend's entire house? Hunt monsters and leave their heads at your ex's doorstep, like a particularly upsetting cat? Or is there something else even more drastic you can do?
Or maybe this isn't really affecting you at all - but someone else feels like they've wronged you, and they want to make it up to you. Are you going to take advantage of this? Pretend it's not happening? You do still feel kind of annoyed by that thing they did that time...► This log covers April 21st-April 30th.
► Feel free to make your own logs, as well
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If you decide the only way to make up for what you've done is the final solution, please let us know here.

[He doesn't sound very convinced. But then, everyone is having a pretty bad time right now, so maybe he's just not in a place where he can fully appreciate her words. Hayden shakes his head, but it's more the action of an animal shuddering than any kind of expression of yes or no.]
I like learning but I think that maybe I am just a very bad learner. I want to be much better.

[Sadly, not as many as she could teach if they were both back in the Abyss, though. She's so limited here in what she can do, what resources she has access to. But the others are limited in the same way - and with a few exceptions, they're not used to having to defend themselves from creatures like her. Those elves, though, they're a problem.]

I'd like it if you taught me things!

[This ought to go better now that both of them aren't ill with some horrible extraplanar disease. Instead, it's whatever this deep sadness is, but she can work through that. It's not much that she hadn't already been feeling since being brought here, she just feels it so much more deeply. Surely, she can still focus on what's important.
She stands, brushes dust off her skirt, then reaches a hand down to Hayden to help him up.]
I could show you a few things right now if you wanted, or we could just go sit somewhere nicer while you get through those tears. We have lots of time.

[He's not good at making choices. Hayden takes her hand, but this is maybe a bit more than she bargained for, because he takes it as an invitation to hug onto her arm once he's on his feet.]

She's hit with another pang of distant memory, of when her own little boy was this small and vulnerable. She misses Virion more than she ever has. Hopes he's doing well, wherever he is right now.]
Yes, we can do both. Of course. How about the park?
[Anywhere that's not the middle of the street. She takes a tentative step in that direction, hoping Hayden will come along if she starts that way.]
no subject
Oh, yes, I really like the park. The park is full of green things, and it isn't green where I lived before. Do you like places that are green?
[It definitely seems that Hayden's distracted now, he blinks away his tears as he starts to step along with her.]

[She hasn't been here long enough to use the past tense but she notices that Hayden does. If he came from the Hells though, it's no wonder. That's no home for a demon - if that's really what he is. It dawns on her suddenly, though, that she knows how to find out.]
What do you like most about plants, Hayden? Do you have a favorite one?
no subject
[He's not sure that there are plants that do that, honestly, but he can imagine it, and it's very frightening.]
What is your garden and your greenhouse like? The greenhouse is very green? Do you have plants that smell very nice and not like fire and blood?
no subject
The greenhouse itself isn't green, no, but some of the plants inside are. Some of them are other colors. Some have thorns, some have beautiful flowers. Some I don't think you'd like, but they're very important. They grow slowly and drink freezing rivers of quicksilver and watering them is difficult, but they are as hard as metal and live to be very old. I have rare plants from all sorts of unusual places. I like to collect them.

[He's getting very excited. This all sounds so wonderful!]
I hope I can see your greenhouse some day. I would like that. It would be amazing to collect plants, but I wouldn't want to do that unless I knew how to take good care of them forever. That's why I only collect rocks.
[Rocks are easy to maintain. They don't ask for much.]

[And Ironhold has so much of it. She can't picture Hayden surviving there for long, though. Something would eat him in minutes.]
Do you have a favorite rock?
