You're Playing Revelry, But No One's Listening
Who: Yukari and Kaiba (closed)
What: Chance meeting of weaponry and combat discussions.
Where: The Armoury
When: 5/8
Warnings: Insults galore, maybe? Nothing more severe than that, I think.
Yukari made it a habit, at this point, to visit the Armoury regularly. He liked to use a variety of weapons to help Atem train against, and he also had his own reasons for looking at the variety. Ayamachi was used more sparingly, if only in favour of concealing the weapon and making sure he remained on his toes for anyone, or anything, that might come after him again. He's certainly never caught off guard, but the memory of whatever that was that came after him, he certainly has no intention of dying to it again.
And he couldn't possibly forget he now has people to protect, by orders of Atem. He'd only taunted Seto up until now, assured that the younger child had a robot that protects him more often than not. Even if he's teasing, Yukari takes his job very seriously.
So, today's trip is hardly any different. A trip to find what to use in the latest rendition of his plans. It's not much, but it's something. Something that keeps his mind on what is steadily becoming the right track. He fingers through a selection of spears with a dagger in hand already. Occasionally, he might test one by tapping it's sharpened point to the ground, putting it back, and looking at another one.

The dangers of this place were becoming more apparent with each day, and the 'protections' such as they were depended on the gods or other captives. None of them could be trusted. The only option was for Kaiba to learn how to fight. He wasn't a complete novice, but the skill needed to be feared in Domino wasn't comparable to what would be needed here.
That's why he went to the armory. He wasn't going to ask for assistance. He planned to find the supplies he needed and figure everything out for himself.
Sorry for the delay!
"Seto-chan~ What a pleasant surprise to see you here."
Just as taunting as it was in their first conversation, Yukari returns his attention to one of the spears nearby.
"How did your conversation with Atem-sama go?"
Probably not the way Kaiba wanted. After all, he never got a cancellation on the order to protect the Kaiba or Mokuba. So, it's easy enough to predict where this conversation will go.
No Problem!
He had no good retort without admitting that Atem hadn't listened to him. That betrayal was between him and Atem. Yukari was just the weapon used, and he wasn't going to discuss it with a tool. Instead he focused on Yukari's worst offense.
"That is not my name."

Dropping his attention from the weaponry for a moment, he takes a few graceful paces toward Kaiba. Testing him, taunting him. And if Kaiba can read combat movements at all, it is a distinct notion that he can and will dodge anything Kaiba can throw at him.
After all, Kaiba can't be strong in any powers, else Atem wouldn't have asked him to watch the young man.
"And how is Mokuba-chan?"
Since they're on the subject.

He spins quickly to face Yukari as he comes closer. He's not a trained fighter, but he's hypervigilant about his surroundings and doesn't trust him at all. He doesn't move to engage, instead standing immovable as he gets closer. His glare that of a CEO used to being in charge, who controls his entire city and always has a group of trained security at his back.
Only his eyes changed when Mokuba was mentioned, narrowing into angry slits. "None, of your business. "

Yukari pauses a moment in thought, before smiling at Kaiba.
"Though, I suppose you're right. I could just message him myself. Yes, that should be much easier. Give me just a moment, won't you? I'll text him so as not to interrupt our little chat."
True to his word, Yukari pulls out his phone and starts typing away on it.

"And why do you do what Yugi says?," he asked challengingly.
no subject
A sly smile.
"Well, I thought it was obvious. Yugi-sama, Atem-sama, is held in much higher regard here than you are."
A jab. And then Yukari wants to dig deeper.
"You see, Seto-chan, I follow a chain of command. -chan. -sama. Those clearly mean something to you. Aren't you clever enough to figure that out on your own?"
no subject
"Are you?" He asked challengingly. He took a step forward, not in an attack posture just to get in his face and stare him down. "I'm aware there's a chain of command. In that chain you're just a guard dog. Not a very good one if your owner was willing to hand you off at the first opportunity."

He clicks his tongue in mock disappointment.
Yukari sends his text message (but it isn't to Mokuba). But he has no less of a sly smile than he would as if he actually had sent it to Mokuba.
"There, much better. Now we can focus on that insult quality of yours. Repeat after me: 'You lack very many things: Passion, conviction, but most of all - Beauty.'"
He actually watches Kaiba expectantly, as if he believes Kaiba will follow suit. But it's all for fun, really.

There are very few people Kaiba might tease with insults. This irritating man is not one of them. Not only was he a nuisance but Kaiba was realizing he was clearly insane. Beauty? What the hell was he going on about. Atem stuck him with an unwanted employee and he was going to treat him like one.
"I'm stating fact," he turns his back on him and makes a dismissive gesture over his shoulder. "Guard dogs shouldn't bark at their masters. How are you supposed to keep watch with all the noise you're making. Tell Yugi to send you back when you're properly trained. "
no subject
"Ah~ Are you offended? Atem-sama certainly doesn't think I'm so incompetent if he assigned me to you. I've already told you, if you wish to prove yourself competent beyond my services, I will gladly accept your challenge, Kaiba-san."
It was only one message, but there it is: -san. And it isn't Mokuba he'll have to thank for that later, but Atem.
Sorry! I thought I responded to this already
"I have no intention of relying on you for anything." He selected a solid looking staff from the weapons rack. It felt enough like the ones he'd performed katas with to be familiar.
