[open] may lab mingle!
Who: Anyone hanging around the lab! GET IN HERE NEWBIES.
What: This is a catch-all lab mingle for May!
Where: The lab.
When: Anytime in May.
Warnings: Probably nothing (except maybe some light monster corpse grossness?) but will edit if anything major comes up. Please include cws on tags where appropriate also!
The Lab sits right around the clinic and shops and provides a laboratory workspace for the more scientifically inclined residents of Hadriel. It consists of a main lab area and a secondary small room that serves as a break space, including a small kitchen (with a fridge and stove) and a sofa bed. In addition, it houses a large supercomputer. It is usually occupied for private projects, but the door is open for those who want to get involved. Currently, the lab is also stockpiled with raw scrap metal and spare Null parts, so feel free to raid those supplies for whatever weird stuff you feel like getting up to.
This is a mingle, so go ahead and top-level and/or tag around! Hop in wherever or whenever, as this will be the lab catch-all for the month of May.

"Hello?"
If someone is running that computer, then Bruce wants to meet them.

Alphys has spent a lot of time making sure this computer is still running; it's got it's own power source from the rest of the electronics in the city in the form of a generator at it's back, and even though the city's cleaned up now, up until recently the Lab was a complete wreck except for this. As it stands, she's currently behind it, sitting on a tall stool to make sure she can properly reach the keys. Though his voice brings notice, poking her head around the side, circular glasses resting on her snout as her head spines raise in confusion.
"Oh, uh... h-hello!" People wander into the lab all the time, so it's not odd to see a non-familiar face. She waves a clawed hand, trying to be friendly. "Are you looking for someone?"
no subject
So;
"Just new. Just exploring. This- this is the lab, right?"
It looks like it should be.
no subject
"Uh, y-yep! This is it." She slides off the chair, walking around it's side. She's only about 4 feet tall, thick tail touching the ground as her feet shuffle along. Alphys still isn't the best at interactions, but she's doing her best to be friendly as new arrivals show up. "I'm Alphys, I, uh... I mean, I don't really run the place, p-people don't report to me or anything, but I guess it's mine, so..."
no subject
So he casts a covetous glance around him
"It's my second time in Hadriel, and last time it was Newt, Dr Gottlieb and me clustered around one crummy microscope."
no subject
"Oh! Oh m-my gosh, I, uh-- w-welcome back! Or uhm, I mean, I guess this is yours, then. It was, uh... Newt and Hermann made it. This building. I took it over when they... left." It's just hitting her how that might be kind of sad, and she moves a hand to rub the back of her neck. "I just didn't want it to go to waste, since they, uhm, w-worked so hard on it. But I knew them. It was really theirs."
no subject
He definitely believes that. Whenever he has a lab mate, his work is better.
Sometimes nearly world-destroying, death-bot creating. But definitely better!
no subject
She had honestly never imagined working with this many people would even happen to her- if "four" can count as "many". But she was head scientist of a team of one for most of her career, so all of this is kind of new.
no subject
He says, but with a growing smile. It'll be a very long time since he was part of an official research lab.
"What are you working on today?"
no subject
Regardless, she grins at him, about to explain and then realizing he probably has no idea. "Well, uh... I have two projects, uhm, r-really. One is uh, obviously, finding the Door, but uh... has anyone told you about the Null, uh, yet? Because that's changed a lot since you were here last, uhm, m-most likely."
no subject
He agrees, because she's absolutely right.
"Have we determined that it's a real physical door? I always thought that was a code for a singularity that Hope could manifest when he wanted."
no subject
"Sorrow described it as an artifact-- a-and one he controls, or uhm, knows where it is. Though he, uh, got kind of mad when I asked if maybe I could help." The start of a rocky relationship, frankly. "He said it's well hidden, though. We haven't been able to physically locate it, but since it moves with the city, I figure it has to, uhm, actually be here."
no subject
He asks, amazed perking up, and quick to tell her;
"That's an incredible stride in the right direction!"
He remembers progress being so incredibly rare while he was here, so to have a clue like this is worth celebrating.
no subject
Alphys looks towards her desk, shuffling papers around and trying to find something that's actually more concrete. "What, uh, what else do you want to know? I mean, there's been a lot of uh, s-stuff, probably, since you were here."
no subject
He asks, that'd be extremely useful.
no subject
no subject
He says, brow creasing, trying to put together where he got that from.
"Maybe Sorrow knows it, and Hope powers it?"
no subject
jumps on this way late i hope that's cool!!
But then Bruce does, so. That's unfortunate. Usually Newt would be more excited about greeting newcomers, but he's been in a bit of a Mood lately. He's not futzing around with the computer at the moment--instead, he's at his desk, scribbling notes on a mess of papers. He glances up momentarily to confirm that, yes, this is the weirdo he caught circling the building, but then goes right back to scribbling. He's sketching something, apparently.
"Hi. You new or something?"
wonderful! I also hope it's okay that Bruce knew old-Newt?
He says, reaching for his glasses, getting them on. They're here for science, after all.
"I guess you might not remember me?"
Not new, definitely something.
omfg ABSOLUTELY LOL
"I take it you knew the other me that was here before? Don't get too excited. I'm not him."
There's an implied "sorry" in there somewhere, but he's not about to say it outright.
no subject
He promises, and starts from the beginning, in that case.
"In that case haven't met. I'm Doctor Banner. I'm a physicist and I do a little biology." And, smiling slightly. "It's nice to meet new-you."
no subject
Assuming he isn't lying about the title, that is.
"We could use a physicist around here. Make sure you track down Alphys. I bet you could help her out on her Door project."
no subject
He says, more quietly, stepping into the room and taking a glance around, and feeling himself smile.
"Wow, you've put work into this place. When I left we had almost nothing in terms of equipment- it was just Newt's one little microscope and the three of us taking turns on it." And; "I've got to say, I never had any luck cracking any of the properties of this universe."
