She's met several others with seafaring inclinations and although her conversations with them have sometimes been brief, or ended poorly, she would still prefer that to someone who she absolutely dislikes. It's not even that he and his friends - no, kin, evidently - attacked her, seeking revenge; rather that she finds him entirely unbearable and if she can't sit through a few minutes of conversation with him, being trapped on a ship is the last thing she wants. Every alternative sailing companion she can think of would be preferred.
