Event Log: The Beach Episode
Who: Everyone!
What: The event log for the transition to our new planet!
Where: The city, which has now been fragmented onto four separate islands.
When: May 27th-June 10th
Warnings: Surf's up! If by 'surf', you mean separation from your friends, weird sea creatures, and cold rainfall.
What: The event log for the transition to our new planet!
Where: The city, which has now been fragmented onto four separate islands.
When: May 27th-June 10th
Warnings: Surf's up! If by 'surf', you mean separation from your friends, weird sea creatures, and cold rainfall.
The sun and the sand and a drink in your hand- well, it all sounded pretty nice when you voted for the island planet, but ultimately what you're getting is a bit less glamorous.
The transition takes place instantaneously, with very little noteworthy shakeup, though those of you who are particularly in-tune with the supernatural may feel a bit dizzied or nauseated by the sudden movement. And that's exactly what it is: for those of you who are outside, the change is fairly noticeable, as in the span of a single blink, what used to be miles of desert is now rocky ocean. The city is simply in one place one moment, and then somewhere entirely new a second later.
And that somewhere new is exciting! The islands have plenty of landscape to explore and weather conditions to adjust to, fish to catch, and- wait, how do you get to the other islands? What if your friends or your home or the bar is on these other islands? Enjoy having to figure out who is where and how you're going to get by with only a small fraction of the city to work off of- hopefully those boats will come sooner rather than later...► This log covers May 27th-June 10th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If you drown or get eaten by an alien shark, let us know here.
Caedra | OTA
Caedra is mid-word when the shift happens: a sudden lurch, a bit like a planeshift but somehow not that either. Alarmed, she looks up from her pen and the paper in her lap, from her seat near the edge of the park, to find that where once there was a river, there is now a broad, gray sea. She can just make out an island far to the south, with what looks like one of the temple buildings.
The islands, why did they have to vote for the islands? Why did the vote have to take place in a way she couldn't alter it? A flash of memory clouds her judgment momentarily, with a vision of a gray seaside city she spent far too long in. The city she died in.
Raindrops splatter and dampen the paper. She takes her pen and throws it abruptly at the water in a sudden flare of anger - but it hits a rock with a loud clatter of plastic against stone.
"Did you vote for this?" she asks whoever it might be who happens to walk by.
West Island: May 28
After some time spent exploring, Caedra has the layout of the new place mostly worked out, though there are a few holes in her knowledge still remaining. It's easy enough to fly across the narrowest straits between the islands but it takes time - the city is more spread out now than it used to be. She eventually finds her way back to the house she had claimed as her own.
Her writing is still there. The thorns are gone. Everything else looks untouched. She steps back out onto the porch and pulls up her hood, more to keep her hair dry than to protect from the cold. Temperature doesn't bother her, and in fact her private domain on Abyssal layer 418 is far colder than this anyway, with its black vines icy to the touch and its rivers of liquid nitrogen.
She surveys her altered surroundings, summons her sword, and begins to cast, gesturing over the terrain with the tip of the rapier, and then holds her pose and focus for several minutes. Once again, the illusion of a dense thorny thicket appears across the landscape, radiating out from her house, looking completely impenetrable.
Good, that should keep the strays out again.
Around, your choice of date
Caedra doesn't bother to hide that she can just fly from island to island. She goes to have a look at the colosseum once again as she considers her plans for the fighting arena. She checks up on the Speakeasy once she has found its new location, and will ask whoever is tending the bar if they have coffee liqueur in stock.
At times, she can be seen sitting on a beach at the narrow points between islands, looking out over the water, waiting for people who might want to cross.
"Need a ride?" she will offer - but be wary if you accept, for her prices can be steep.
West Island Buddies!
Semiyon, bundled in a heavy sand colored blanket, stands a few paces off. His hair is too short to be much affected by the rain, but having been snatched to Hadriel from the desert, he has few warm clothes to speak of, so for now the blanket draped neatly around his shoulders will suffice. He trusts he shall readapt to cold quickly, after all he is still Russian even if he's spent the last two decades in the Israeli sun.

And of course he happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time--or the right place at the right time?--to encounter someone else, and not just someone else, but someone he knows by description and from the network but has never met. Aaaand she's asking a question, so he can't just pretend to have never been here.
At least he can answer honestly--
"No. I definitely did not vote for this." And it's probably obvious by his tone that he's not too impressed they ended up here. That said, he might as well go ahead and ask, "It's Caedra, right?

west island bc michael is lame and can't fly
It's during that walk that he spots the, uh, whatever is going on with Caedra. Some kind of weird sword ritual? Michael's never actually met the woman, so he doesn't immediately connect her with "that demon everyone talks about".
He stops to watch, quietly and from a slight distance, until she finishes her spell and the thorns appear. Huh. Cool.
"Was that magic?" That's a dumb question, but he's not great at conversation openers.
come on michael it's easy just click your heels or something

Delmar | West Island | OTA
The bakery is gone. Many of the buildings he recognizes are gone. He cannot locate a good number of his friends. The only small relief is that he was moved with his home and that, being someone who hates wearing less than two layers at any given moment, Delmar is well supplied for such weather when it comes to wardrobe. He's bundled up in his heavy overcoat and green felt hat as he fretfully searches the island looking for familiar people and places.
May 30 - June 10th
Once his friends and his bakery are accounted for, Delmar finds himself drawn to long walks along the shoreline, something from his routine back home that he's missed desperately. True, this is no Rockaway Beach with its dazzling sunset and unbroken horizon but with the gray skies and chilly weather its not too far off the mark of New York in the fall and winter. So he can be found trudging up and down near the water, occasionally reading from a book as he walks, at other times simply carrying it under his arm and staring off into the distance.
He'd be more than glad for company if you'd care to join him.
oops i mean 2nd prompt tho
He sees Delmar easily enough but doesn't rush to catch him, rather closing the distance between them naturally and falling into soft step beside him.
"Hey."

Aren | East Island | OTA
May 27
She got her wish for the oceanic setting, apparently. There was just one hang-up; the shift happened when she was on the other side of Hadriel, away from home. The city had arrived intact before, so she had no reason to think that would change. But now, she's staring across the water at the island which contains her home and no way to reach it.
At least she's not alone. Glancing over at Barkspawn, who whines, she pats him. "Eh, it could be worse. We have the orchard and hot springs with us, after all. Besides, we can check on the others...."
Pulling out her phone, she paces back and forth while making a call that, while technically private to housemates, can still be overheard to anyone nearby.
Later on, the dwarf and her dog can be spotted under a tree in the orchard while they have an unexpected picnic. Or perhaps they're found while Aren is sliding into the warm waters of a spring, sighing in contentment and taking a moment of pleasure in this upheaval. Either way, she doesn't seem too stressed about the circumstances.

Trafalgar Law - OPEN
[Law is in the clinic when it happens, so he doesn't notice the instant change, but very shortly after it happens he can tell there's something different - a change in the light, a sensation of moisture where there was only dryness before, and a scent in the air that goes straight to his cold, shriveled heart. He abandons what he's doing and runs out to see that it's happened, his choice won the poll...
If you'll excuse him, he's going to be standing there on the rocks at the edge of the island, watching the sea pound the shore and the softer sun glimmer on the distant waves for the rest of the day. Anyone can approach him there, he won't push anyone away, particularly if they want to ask him why he's so entranced. After all, Law doesn't just stand around staring into space most days, this behavior is weird for him.]
Anytime, West or East islands
[the one thing Law will not be mentioning openly is that he can easily hop from island to island, but chances are good people are going to find out eventually. Anyone who knows him well enough can probably guess. Anyone who has seen him use Shambles should know full well what he can do. Everyone else might catch a glimpse of him in the process: walking to the tip of one island, creating a Room that encompasses the land on both sides of the strait, and then a twist of his wrist to blink himself from one island to the next. Whether you know he can do it or witness him doing it, if you want a ride, you'll have to ask nicely.
And even if you ask nicely he might say no. But you won't know until you try, right?]
East Island, inside shore, any day
[Despite having subsisted on those tiny, weak fish in the pools for the first month or so on desert-world, Law will never get tired of fish. That's why he can be found as close to the water as he can safely get, on some of those weird rock-pillars, fishing up a storm. Nothing tastes quite like ocean fish, dwelling in salt water, swimming against the powerful waves and currents. But there's not a lot of time in the day to waste waiting for a tug on the line, he's either working by net or by Ope-Ope Fruit, telekinetically flinging fish up out of the water and onto the rocks. Look at the bounty of the sea! Come on, this is more than one man alone can eat, help him haul some in and take some home for yourself...]
Wildcard
[legit anything, clinic stuff or pirate stuff come at me bro. Law can be on any island though he will be sticking to West and East because the clinic and his house are in those locations]
West Island, May 27
But she misses the desert. And she hates this gray sea and the buried memories that go with it.
Most of her exploration is on foot and as she makes her way sullenly down the coastline she spots a familiar silhouette staring out at the waves. He probably likes it here, she has to imagine. Even with her own preferences in mind, there's something sad about a pirate stuck in a desert.
With her fur-lined hood pulled up to keep the drizzle of rain off, she goes to stand beside him, folding her arms over her chest as she admires the early stages of the sunset.]

Lance | North Island | OTA
[Well, Lance is not super happy to be on an island. It isn't exactly that he has something against islands, but more that he has the distinct feeling this is going to be both terribly inconvenient and terribly dangerous. How are they going to get from place to place? What if there's an emergency somewhere? What are they going to do when new arrivals show up, both in regards to the monsters and in regards to getting the newbies supplies and places to live?
It could be a lot worse, he supposes; it's not freezing or super hot, there are no jungle vines blocking the streets, and the city--or the island he's on, anyway--seems to still be functional. But 'it could be worse' is still not that much of a comfort, and he's just not impressed that they all ended up here instead of somewhere more useful.
But complaining won't solve anything, and so Lance is out exploring instead. As it is he's found one of the cliffs and has wandered cautiously out onto it; the sight is kind of amazing, as so annoyed as he is about the situation it's also really pretty cool. And a little scary, but the fall isn't that far, so as much as he absolutely doesn't want to fall in it isn't frightening enough to not appreciate the view.
If anyone's passing by, they'll probably hear him comment--]
At least it's not the desert this time.
[The Park | 28th or 29th | OTA]
[Okay, maybe this place isn't so bad after all. He's still a little annoyed by the practical issues, as well as losing the potential to have discovered something useful about the Null on the ice planet, but the rest of his irritation is fading a bit.
That's mostly because he's wandered to the park while it's raining, and there's just something serenely peaceful about standing under a tree and watching the rain filter through the leaves. He doesn't even care that he's pretty drenched at this point, because after the last storm back when they were underground he'd never really thought he'd get to see rain again.
But although he's enjoying it he knows not everyone else might be, and if he sees someone looking soaked and unhappy he'll take a moment to ask--]
Are you doing okay?
Park! Because his garden is there, so why not.
[Carlisle manages to bite his tongue before continuing, knowing that he should curb his temper, especially when speaking to someone who has been nothing but understanding with him; however, he's cold and soaked, and therefore finds it a lot harder to be as respectful as he ought to be, even to someone as painfully polite as Lance. He pushes his hair from his face, the moisture weighing it do, lose bangs hanging in front of his eyes -- they glow so vibrantly in the darkness beneath the clouds.
He pulls in a breath through his nose, pushing it out in a long exhale.]
My apologies, doctor. To answer your question, no, I am not 'doing okay.' You stumble upon me in a bedraggled state, but my bloodworts need tending to, particularly now that we have been removed from the blistering heat of that awful world we were previously trapped in.
[He didn't like the sudden change in scenery, but he has to admit that he liked the double suns even less.]

taako | ota
[He almost doesn't notice when the city moves.
It's not the disorientation that gets him; in fact, it's the sound. He hasn't heard rain in months, and the sound of it pattering against the window immediately perks up a long ear as he tosses himself out of where he's lazing in bed and sticks his head outside.
Oh, shit. They've moved. He laughs, skittering down the stairs and outside to the sound of churning water and the grey skyline. Taako's grin only grows wider, as he cups his hands and yells to anyone in the vicinity:]
Hey! Come check this shit out! We're on island time now!
ii. [north island, park, 28th]
[Other people may be worried about being stuck on one island or another, but that's not what Taako's thinking about at all. This is the first time he's been somewhere with water after getting his memories back, and he intends to use that. Getting to the other islands are easy enough for a man who can become a bird, so the residents of the north island can be treated to a loud crash in the park at midday. If you come to investigate, you'll find Taako, standing over a tree trunk and orchestrating his hands like a conductor as a group of knives seem to be carving something out of the wood. He's muttering to himself, seemingly concentrating and lost in his own thoughts.]
Ugh, fuck, it's been years since I did this shit, how did I decide was the best way to do this again? Don't even have any oil, damn...
[For those who may have seen one before- it looks almost like he's making a surfboard.]
iii. [any island, on the shoreline, anytime]
[He's realizing, as the days pass, that getting around is becoming an issue for people. And when there's a need, the free market follows. And by 'free market', Taako means desperate people owing him for simple magical favors. So he patrols the shoreline, looking for people wistfully looking out to other islands, or otherwise those who may look hopeless before he slides up.]
Heyyy, you stuck here? I can get you anywhere you gotta go, y'know. No prob.
[Do you trust that smile? You probably shouldn't.]
iv. [wildcard!]
[Want another prompt? Find him somewhere in particular? Hit me up through PM or at
1
[That is why today, on this morning, he is pissed as fuck to hear those not-so-dulcet tones yelling from probably like a block or two away.]

alphys | ota
[The shift happens, and once again, she finds herself mystified.
Alphys had only ever seen the surface in media and television; even if the Underground often approximated weather conditions, it was areas you could move through, not things that could just happen. So when the rain starts hitting the windows, she's startled until she registers what it is.
They've moved. There's a whole new city, now. And that means a whole new Surface to get used to.
She finds herself standing outside, looking in disbelief over at the churning ocean with her mouth slightly agape.]
Is this... t-the ocean? It's... darker, than I thought it'd be.
ii. [west island, south coastline, later on the 27th]
[Well. This is a problem.
The last time Alphys was cut off from people she knew was the first time the city was under attack, so frankly, even though she can see the other bank in the distance she has reason to be wary. Sure, there's space in the Lab for her to stay, but-- her stuff! Her computer! All her pets!! Not to mention all her food...
Alphys can be found pacing the shoreline, tapping her claws together, biting at her lip, and looking just as anxious as most people know her by.
Looks like she could use a hand.]
iii. [wildcard]

ii;
Lup hasn't exactly adjusted to the new weather yet, she's still wearing the usual shorts and crop top she'd be sporting back in the other world, but she doesn't appear to be too bothered by the new chill as she approaches her friend on the shoreline.]

Maglor | OTA East Island or call his phone XD
His first thought, however, is not about his brothers, or his cousin, or anything else. Oh no. Maglor lifts his head, and there's nothing but the Sea in his eyes.
"Oh!"
It's been so long. This ocean isn't his ocean, not the place where the gem he gave up everything for lies hidden in the deeps, still singing to him. But it's still ocean, and the Sea-Longing wakes in his heart. He makes a bee-line for the nearest stretch of beach, and can be found there for the first week, wandering up and down the coastline singing softly to the waves, and teaching the seabirds to sing.
video phone call!
Hey, about time you answered, big brother!
[ There's laughter in his voice. Though he's been concerned, he knows Maglor well enough to know he'd be wandering the shore entranced for a while. ]

Kelson | West Island | OTA
Kelson didn't immediately notice anything was different when he woke up, having slept through the move itself. However, after getting himself ready for the day--something he was getting more and more used to doing alone, he almost hoped it wouldn't be too much of a shock when he finally went back to Gwynedd-- Kelson ducked outside and noticed the world was off. In fact, it was noticeably cooler than it had been, the sky was overcast with finally just a single sun. He could smell water. A simple stroll pointed to the reason, it was rather obvious. They were surrounded by water.
He had to admit, the weather was nice, much more to what he was used too, for at least part of the season in Gwynedd. He wished he could say he wasn't surprised by the sudden change, they had been warned after all, but he was. He hadn't expected the suddenness of it, and just how different it was. Kelson couldn't form into words what he had been expecting, having had no comparison, but it certainly was an experience.
"How are we supposed to get from island to island?" He didn't see any boats, and it was a little too far for a bridge, wasn't it?
<28th - onward
By now Kelson was really wishing he knew if the Deryni of the past could teleport. Being stuck with only half the city was grating. It wasn't entirely dissimilar to being stuck inside the castle during snowstorms but at least he had the entire castle! This was....there were people and places he couldn't get too when only yesterday it had not been an option.
He's taken to going on walks, because what else was he supposed to do at the moment? He was figuring out what was where, and at the very least, the atmosphere was very pretty. Maybe you came across him in a store, or maybe he was looking at the ocean crashing off the rocks by a beach or a cliff.
"At the very least, it's beautiful isn't it?"
Device
Or if you're stuck on a neighboring island, Kelson still has his device on him. Keep giving him practice on how to use it or he might forget.
28th or whenever after lol
Better than some people she could name.
She perched on the edge of one of the cliffs, sitting with her legs dangling over the side and looking out at the water. It made her miss Percy. Her jeans were already soaking wet and she didn't even care. This time her hair is pulled back into a ponytail since it isn't a party anymore. At least she remembered to brush it this morning.
"Yeah, I guess. It kind of reminds me of someone." She had to bite back a sigh, and she probably should have stood up or something to be polite, but she at least looked up at him.
"Trying to keep yourself occupied, Your Majesty?"

Jo Harvelle | ota
[Jo had seen Pell off and returned to the kitchen to work on lunch. She turns and the light in the room changes suddenly. It only takes her a moment to move to the window.
Clouds, instead of endless sun.]
That's a change. [Fear must have moved the city. Is this the ocean planet? She gathers her bag and steps outside, scanning the area. Not much changed outside that she can see...
But she heads to her left, grateful that she can find her way around again. Eventually she hits a cliff and stands there, staring out into the ocean.]
Damn. They really did it.
no subject
that means she can do a little exploring. it looks as though all of the houses are on the same island along with two of the spires, Fear's temple, and Hope's temple. she doesn't mind Fear, so that's cool, but she thinks that Hope is a doofus. they've also got the Colosseum, so that's great. all of the n00bs and all of the monsters, here. oh, well. could be worse?
as she wanders, she sees a familiar flash of blonde hair and heads on over to Jo]
At least it's not a desert. Or a ball of ice.

merle highchurch | ota
[ GOD, FINALLY... the ocean. His vote paid off.
A vitally important detail to know about Merle Highchurch is that he is, by choice, what the kids call a beach dwarf. He likes to live on the beach. He likes tide pools and standing in the water. He likes sitting on the beach.
Sure, the lack of sand and sunny weather is a bit of a downer in context, but you know what? He's got the party points and the positive attitude to make up for it. Plus... yeah, everyone just kinda did the sand and sun thing for a lot longer than anyone probably liked. Such is the nature of living.
Merle's got no hangups with exploring the new digs. The city itself is basically exactly the same, looks more or less intact where it hasn't been split off from another part of the city, so the real good part is scoping out all the shorelines. It's okay guys Merle is on this.
Not to do anything especially cool or useful. If you're in the market for a shitty weed grandpa, find him on your local rocky beach. Wherever it seems the most relatively drip-free, which is touch and go depending on what kind of outcroppings and stuff he might be able to worm his way into.
He's just chillin'. Watching the water. Don't take it to mean you're safe from conversing with him bc he will do it. ]
ii. east island. | because with the ocean, the scenery is always changin'.
[ Merle probably makes his way around to all the islands eventually, but when he does properly get up and get moving, however it is he does that (our bets are on the flying broomstick, but there's no way he doesn't try some dumb bullshit first), it's inevitable that Merle ends up on the east island.
That's where the orchard is, fam. He likes the ocean and he likes plants. They're like his whole thing.
He's mostly here to check in on all the trees and flowers and stuff, to hang out for a while, standard orchard guy stuff. Is there a weird dwarf-in-appearance, goblin-in-personality dude sitting in a tree, possibly checking out which one has the most ideal ocean view? Yes. Probably. That's him. Sorry if his sandal or croc or whatever it is he wears falls on you. ]
My bad!
[ he might also tool around the hot springs for a while? he's old and he hates shirts, what do you want from him. ]

instead of Merle finding her, she finds him watching the ocean]
Hey. Enjoying yourself?
Curufin | OTA
i. Guard HQ
Curufin stops in here regularly. He can call the other Guards who have ended up on this island with him, but it is good to check in face-to-face as well. The place is the same as always, except. . . emptier. You'll find Curufin making coffee and sketching a map of the island, to scale.
ii. The Firehouse
Since it was on the north shore of the lake, not far from the Sewing Shop, the Fire Brigade's building along with the fire engines ended up on the south shore of North Island, on the curve of the little bay. Curufin drops in here regularly, just to make sure all is well, even though he doesn't think it is likely there will be a fire any time soon. The fire engines will be usable for other kinds of transportation until their batteries run out of charge. Unfortunately, the charging hubs are in the moped lot on South Island.
iii. South edge of the Park, under the eaves of the trees
Curufin and Celebrimbor have been long maintained a workshop here, a cluster of shacks that each has a craft or storage purpose. Now there is another building, a boat-building shed. Inside, Curufin is working on the first of the two boats he promised Henry he would build. He does it in the style of boat-builders of the First Age of Arda -- he has chalked an outline on the floor, and now he's building from the floor up, starting with the keel. Once he has the basic structures established, including the ribs, he starts on the hull planking. This requires him to soak the cut sections of green wood in water or steam them so that they can be bent to fit the curved shape of the hull, and then they are nailed in place. He's making good progress. If he has coworkers, it would be even better. Visitors welcome as well!
iv. Shoreline
He's rather fascinated by the ocean. He once sailed the Arctic waters of his own world, and he has never forgotten the magnificence of the sea. He can be found taking a break and sitting up on the folded and tumbled rocks of the beach, eyeing the nearest island and mentally making plans for rowing or sailing across once he has the first boat finished.
Or he can be found fishing from a cliff top, throwing the fish into a basket, to be shared with whoever needs food. The food sources here are limited. (Though he and the other harvesters did place food caches in Spires Two and Three, and in Guard HQ and in the Armory, and Pell has a garden in the Park.)
Re: Curufin | OTA
Of course, there was no real means of knowing 'where' the other guardsmen might be, but HQ seemed good as any. Sooner or later, they usually met there anyway, and no other place would serve till everyone was settled.
She entered the building, about to call out when she spotted Curufin at the coffee maker and near some papers. "How're things looking?"
Greetings could come later, right now they needed to get organized.
Okay if we assume Sonya helped with the Orchard harvest?

serah / east island, ota
( The watchtower on the Eastern Island is still relatively new to Serah, she hasn't been helping out the guard long and most of that was limited to patrols rather than manning the watchtowers themselves. She spends the better part of the first morning after the shift in planets here, watching the ocean and trying to get a view of any of the other islands.
It's been a long time since she's seen the sea, longer even than her stay in Hadriel. Since leaving New Bodhum to travel through time, visiting parts of Pulse and Cocoon that aren't blessed by lapping waves and an endless expanse of blue.
But here, it's more like a churning ocean and a lot of grey. Still the ocean, but rougher, more dangerous. It moves like a warning to anyone who'd dare cross it. And the rain feels near constant, a fine drizzle which soaks through her clothes in an instant.
Serah comes to the watchtower every day despite the downpours, watches the ocean and the island itself. This is the closest thing to a guard base they have now, and if someone needs help, she tries to be here to offer that. )
i'll be there for you, i'll be there for you;
( But even the most attentive guardsman (or woman, as the case may be) needs a break once in a while. When the rain stops long enough that she can only feel the leftover humidity instead, Serah stretches her legs and wanders the city fragment until she comes to the entrance of the hot springs, inhaling the steam that clouds the entire area with a sigh of contentment.
There is, of course, no point in working oneself to complete exhaustion. Breaks and unwinding are very important in letting the body recuperate. Which is why she makes her way in, changes, and dips her toes - and eventually, her entire self - into a spring with the kind of murmur that comes from hot water washing away every bit of tension in her body. )
This is great.
( And you should definitely join her and relax. )
Watchtower
But they have their uses. They do seem to generally know what's going on around the place. And this one - this woman, who seems to be about to head up to her post, isn't one she recognizes. Good, that makes it easier. She probably knows something vague about Caedra, they probably have some sort of watchlist, but at least there's no personal history to cloud her judgment when all she wants is to ask a simple question.]
Hey. Do you know if anyone here has a boat?

Seth Gecko | East Island - Day 1 closed to housemates, rest are OTA
Love 5 - Backdated to Day 1 / May 27th
"What the fuck?" he muttered while stirring from sleep. Sure, most of the time sex with Margo felt like the earth was moving but they weren't doing the deed and Seth wasn't even dreaming about it. A quick grab and glance at his device let him know the time but no messages about what was going on.
"Everybody still in one piece?" Seth called out to his housemates.
Around East Island - Day 2 or 3
First chance that he got, Seth was out checking his surroundings to see what their neighborhood now had to offer with the sudden water around it.
He was dressed in a black henley with the sleeves pushed up on his forearms. Seth wore a vest to one of his suits over top, hiding the gun tucked in the small of his back. His pants were black jeans with a belt on and boots covered a little by each pant leg.
Not one to be smiling easily, he still might stop to lend a hand if someone is in trouble.
Around East Island - Day 3 or after
Choose your own adventure? Seth might be looking to plunder for supplies. He might be keeping an eye out on who would make a good meal for the sin eater he lives with.
no subject
So Leo poked his head out when Seth called out. "Unfortunately yes. I'm just waiting for this rock to sink right into the ocean and drown us all." Not to put too fine a dramatic point on it.

Mokuba Kaiba | North Island | OTA
Mokuba isn't worried about being left on his own though. He's been through this before so he does what he's always done whenever he's showed up in a new place - go exploring. His three-headed robodragon is always at his side, and Mokuba is very glad the companion is waterproof, otherwise this would probably be very problematic.
The eleven-year-old can most often be found sitting near a cliff, looking out at the sea and the other islands beyond with a wistful and sometimes solemn expression. It reminds him of being in Medietas with Noa what with the islands there, and it also brings back the memory of standing on the cliffside in the virtual world when Noa was their enemy instead. He does remember the feeling of slipping over the edge and almost falling to his possible death if not for Seto grabbing him at the last moment, so he makes sure not to sit right up on the edge at least, a good few feet back. He's confident Hiryu would at least grab him and slow his fall before he hit the water but he'd rather not chance it.]

Bruce Banner: OTA
Bruce stands out on the edge of the water, and contemplates the distance. The opposite shoreline is in sight. On Earth, it'd be an easy swim.
It'd be an easy swim if it were safe, that is- allowing for tides, allowing for predators. It'd be awfully easy to be eaten or swept out to sea or whatnot.
Still, he could probably do it. If the other guy were here to intervene, it'd be no trouble whatsoever. But what would that mean, if it did come true?
And why risk it?
Silence
So, there's something here he half remembers, have half-decided to forget. It's a part of town more shadowed than the rest, all grim and quiet, not tropical, not- not right.
Bruce stands at the edge of little Silent Hill and shivers, at a sound that almost catches his ear. Is it- a siren?
And then behind him comes the sound of footsteps. He turns over his shoulder and sees something running at him.
Monsters don't have a way off the island, and doors are still opening. Opening right now in some cases.
Bruce curses, and sets off at a sprint. Whether or not the other guy is coming out to help, he can't sit back and do nothing.

Quentin Coldwater: OTA
Quentin believes, in a very powerful way, in life going in circles. He finds himself in an orchard, and decides that yes.
He spends a day there, dawn to dawn, all the way through. He eats fruit from the trees and lays down in the grass when he needs to sleep.
He cracks circumstances. It's a brute force process, and he does a lot of it with his eyes shut, his hands in the grass. He needs the shape of the planet, the texture of the air. He needs magnetic fields, he needs leylines, and a sense of the orbit around the sun, the paths of the moons.
He's there to be interrupted, even if he does move a bit like a sleepwalker.
Hotsprings
When there's little else to do, Quentin washes up at the hotsprings. It feels like a shame to use showers when you have a place like this to come to.
Quentin is a fighter in nerd's clothing- when he shrugs the star trek t-shirt and cardigan and ill fitting cuordoroys off, his body tells a strange story. He's got muscle to him, he's got scars, he's got a vicious burn in the centre of his back, and it's ringed by a complex tattoo of a pentacle that the initiated may recognize as a demon trap. One of his shoulders and one of his knees have each been replaced with prosthetics. They're wood- not in the sense of pirates and peglegs, but living wooden skin, like a carved statue has come to life. He's been hit with a sword or two- and weirder stuff besides.
He slips into one of the pools in a hurry, and immediately curses, loudly;
"Shit!"
He's forgotten his glasses, and they're now in the water. Quentin lets out an exasperated sigh, and begins patting.
Orchard
Should he follow, it won't take long to discover the source. At the base of a tree, whose crown is blocking the thick mist that threatens to become rain, sits Caedra. Beside her is a pen and an open notebook with pages covered in writing done in a foreign script, all at angles and curves so that it's hard to tell where each line (if line is even the right word) is supposed to begin or end.
But she's not writing now. She's sitting, smiling to herself. Enjoying her surroundings, as dessication slowly creeps up the trunk she is leaning against, turning the bark ashen and brittle. She hears footsteps and turns her gaze to the one who wanders closer, not sure if he has seen her or not. He too looks very absorbed in his surroundings.

Rey. | South Island, June 1st (CLOSED to Nick Valentine)
With a weary groan, Rey just flops into a Speakeasy booth, about slamming her forehead against the tabletop. Despite the loud thunk, it doesn't hurt as much as it sounds.
"Ugh, 'm going to kill the assholes who voted for this Gilligan's Island fuckery," Rey muffles, her head buried in her folded arms over the table.
No, wait. Gilligan's Island would have been more jungle-like, wouldn't it? Hell if Rey is taking it back now.
Logically, the dam was probably going to be shot to shit either way. She opted for the frozen planet, and that would have probably left them in this very situation.
Best to just ditch the dam altogether, anyway.
Dammit.
no subject
But that'll have to wait. He scribbles a couple of names near the northern island, members of the Guard trapped there. "Well, they got a beach. And a lot more, from the sound of it. I doubt they were thinking about how much water there'd be, or the wind, or what the folks who can't swim would do."

Nagito Komaeda | OTA
At first, Komaeda can be seen standing on the rock with a dagger in hand.
Unfortunately, the next moment, he slips and falls backwards into the water. Just his luck.
Should you try to rescue him, you have a very good chance of getting bitten on the nose by a lobster once you both manage to reach the shore.
no subject
So he cuts out. Punches the shark, goes for the eyes, all the things you're supposed to do- Hulk isn't there, is just a flicker of gamma under his skin, perhaps an extra thrust in one particular jabbing blow at the skull of the predator.
It begins to sink, bleeding, which can't be good- Bruce goes to check if Komaeda's too hurt to keep swimming, prepared to tow him back to land if necessary, so long as they get there fast. One he can take, but a whole school?

[closed to Kate Galloway][after the first boats are built]
He sets foot on the western island without sending word ahead, giving a small smile of thanks to the person who got him there. Ferry services would be in great demand, he imagines, for as long as they remain on this planet.
From the shore he makes his way to the clinic. She'd been sleeping in there, she said, and he has little reason to think she would be anywhere else (he knows how your mind operates, Kate, and how you throw yourself into work just like he does). When he steps inside he's looking for that tell-tale flash of bright pink hair, and the moment he sees it it's like a small weight lifts.
She has her back to him and just for a few moments he watches her working, his sharp expression softened at the edges. He crosses to her, and lightly touches her hip.]
Pardon me, but I'm looking for someone.
wow tag your rudeness
She expects that Ignis would be straight on his way to Noctis, because it's exactly what she'd do if her friends from home were here. If Faith was here, on another island. There's plenty to do here and she'll call him later.
Footsteps echo as she's in the middle of putting away new supplies in the storage closet and she pays them no mind for the moment, barely paying the attention needed to identify the owner. If it's not a staff member, they'll say something, surely.
...Or there'll be a hand at her hip, and a familiar voice that speaks before she has a chance to brush it away. Her chest tightens in a way that's oddly pleasant, that last held breath before the tightness in her shoulders disappears when she turns around. )

Sonya Blade | North Island
In truth, the only reason Sonya voted for the island was because, as far as she could tell, it was the lesser of the tree evils. The snowy world might've been secure, but she wouldn't trust the gods to provide adequate clothing as well as food for their survival; the jungle may've provided means of finding food and shelter, but structurally, they all had enough to deal with besides flooding and weak shelters. The islands might be rough without boats, but she felt safer in the stone structures than she would in the snow or wood.
She was just glad there was an empty room in Spire 3 she could camp out in. She'd share it of course, but she would still take advantage since her own 'home' was on another island.
Along with guard duty (what she could manage), she spent most of her time constructing and watching traps. So far, they've kept a good supply of food rationed, but she agreed with Curufin that for the moment, it was better to be prepared. The latest trap she'd set had managed to catch a large..what she could almost call a hybrid between a reptile and fish, if that was even possible.
That didn't stop her from dispatching and quickly skinning it for its meat.
June 7th; guards HQ/training ground: closed to Margery Tyrell
With Margery on the same island as her, and the training ground along with them, Sonya saw no reason why they couldn't continue their lessons, if for no other reason then to form a kind of stability within this realm. Since April and having them several times a week, she'd been able to move from simple punches and kicks, to body throws and grappling, to free one's self as well as engage. That Margery was a quick study also helped move things along.
The coast line ensured the weather was cooler than was in their last setting, so starting so early in the morning wasn't a necessity-yet she kept at it just for habit. With so much going on, unless there was an emergency, they kept at the same schedule.
Once Margery arrived, they went through the usual warm ups of a few easy punches and kicks, just to warm up the muscles and get the heart beating.
June 7th
the cooler weather gives her pause. she'd gotten used to the heat of the desert and both King's Landing and Highgarden had been warm.
she's getting more confident in what she's doing. she's hopeful that this will make her less of a target for creatures like the demon]
