Event Log: The Beach Episode

Who: Everyone!
What: The event log for the transition to our new planet!
Where: The city, which has now been fragmented onto four separate islands.
When: May 27th-June 10th
Warnings: Surf's up! If by 'surf', you mean separation from your friends, weird sea creatures, and cold rainfall.

The sun and the sand and a drink in your hand- well, it all sounded pretty nice when you voted for the island planet, but ultimately what you're getting is a bit less glamorous.

The transition takes place instantaneously, with very little noteworthy shakeup, though those of you who are particularly in-tune with the supernatural may feel a bit dizzied or nauseated by the sudden movement. And that's exactly what it is: for those of you who are outside, the change is fairly noticeable, as in the span of a single blink, what used to be miles of desert is now rocky ocean. The city is simply in one place one moment, and then somewhere entirely new a second later.

And that somewhere new is exciting! The islands have plenty of landscape to explore and weather conditions to adjust to, fish to catch, and- wait, how do you get to the other islands? What if your friends or your home or the bar is on these other islands? Enjoy having to figure out who is where and how you're going to get by with only a small fraction of the city to work off of- hopefully those boats will come sooner rather than later...

I hope we're headed towards people being happy.

Happy. [she says in the air of one completely unaccustomed to the emotion. which, let's face it, she mostly is]

Yeah, that would be nice. Not gonna bet on it, though.

[knifecollecting]

Do you bet on anything?

[toiletseat_girl]

[she thinks for a minute before replying]

...not really, no.

[knifecollecting]

That's what I thought.

[So boring, George.]

[toiletseat_girl]

Really? What made you think that?

[knifecollecting]

[Jo knows this is going to bug George, so she just answers.]

You don't really take risks. Not always a bad thing.

[toiletseat_girl]

[yes it is going to bug her. it's bugging her right now. argh]

Hey, I take risks. Just ones I think are gonna work out, that's all.

[knifecollecting]

[Jo laughs and shakes her head.]

They're really not risks if you know it's gonna work out.

[toiletseat_girl]

What? Yes, they are.

[knifecollecting]

No, that's a sure thing. There's a difference.

[toiletseat_girl]

Not. . . necessarily a sure thing.

[knifecollecting]

[Jo laughs.]

Uh-huh. It's close enough.

[toiletseat_girl]

Look, I've never been big into gambling. I usually lose.

[knifecollecting]

That's probably because you don't know how to lie or read people.

[toiletseat_girl]

I can lie! I lied to Rube all the time.

[knifecollecting]

Successfully?

[Jo nudges George with her elbow.]

[toiletseat_girl]

Well. No. But that's because Rube was an asshole.

[is nudged. followed by exaggerated rubbing at her side]

[knifecollecting]

[Jo can't help but laugh with a very satisfied expression on her face.]

I bet.

[toiletseat_girl]

[she gets a nudge of her own for that]

He was. Had it in for me since day one.

[knifecollecting]

[She laughs again.]

Bosses are supposed to be like that.

[toiletseat_girl]

[George snorts]

You know what? It would serve him right if he did show up here. He'd get to lose his shit over the fact that everyone knows I'm a Grim Reaper and then get the news that I'm not going back.

[knifecollecting]

You're not going home? [The two of them had never really discussed this before. Jo's interested.]

Where will you go?

[toiletseat_girl]

Nope. My family. . . it was kind of falling apart. I dunno if I want to stick around for the gory details. And my little sister was having a hard time letting me go. Maybe it would be easier on her if I let go first. [George has barely accepted any of this herself and this is the first time she's actually said out loud that she doesn't want to go home]

I have no idea. I figure I've got time to settle on a place.
