Event Log: The Beach Episode

Who: Everyone!
What: The event log for the transition to our new planet!
Where: The city, which has now been fragmented onto four separate islands.
When: May 27th-June 10th
Warnings: Surf's up! If by 'surf', you mean separation from your friends, weird sea creatures, and cold rainfall.

The sun and the sand and a drink in your hand- well, it all sounded pretty nice when you voted for the island planet, but ultimately what you're getting is a bit less glamorous.

The transition takes place instantaneously, with very little noteworthy shakeup, though those of you who are particularly in-tune with the supernatural may feel a bit dizzied or nauseated by the sudden movement. And that's exactly what it is: for those of you who are outside, the change is fairly noticeable, as in the span of a single blink, what used to be miles of desert is now rocky ocean. The city is simply in one place one moment, and then somewhere entirely new a second later.

And that somewhere new is exciting! The islands have plenty of landscape to explore and weather conditions to adjust to, fish to catch, and- wait, how do you get to the other islands? What if your friends or your home or the bar is on these other islands? Enjoy having to figure out who is where and how you're going to get by with only a small fraction of the city to work off of- hopefully those boats will come sooner rather than later...

West Island - all over

[Jo had seen Pell off and returned to the kitchen to work on lunch. She turns and the light in the room changes suddenly. It only takes her a moment to move to the window.

Clouds, instead of endless sun.]

That's a change. [Fear must have moved the city. Is this the ocean planet? She gathers her bag and steps outside, scanning the area. Not much changed outside that she can see...

But she heads to her left, grateful that she can find her way around again. Eventually she hits a cliff and stands there, staring out into the ocean.]

Damn. They really did it.

[George was at the Clinic when the move happened. she finishes her shift, and decides to look for home. fortunately, it looks like her house landed on the same island so go her?

that means she can do a little exploring. it looks as though all of the houses are on the same island along with two of the spires, Fear's temple, and Hope's temple. she doesn't mind Fear, so that's cool, but she thinks that Hope is a doofus. they've also got the Colosseum, so that's great. all of the n00bs and all of the monsters, here. oh, well. could be worse?

as she wanders, she sees a familiar flash of blonde hair and heads on over to Jo]

At least it's not a desert. Or a ball of ice.

George, hey. [Jo turns away from the ocean, smiling at her.]

Yeah. It should be easier here.

[toiletseat_girl]

Hey, Jo. [she smiles back]

Yeah, I hope so. Kinda noticed that not everything's here.

[knifecollecting]

[Jo turns back to the waves and nods, jamming her hands into her pockets.]

Yeah. I hope there are boats coming.

[toiletseat_girl]

[George also turns to face the ocean]

That would be nice, but I'm not gonna bet on it. Not anytime soon. We'll probably have to build our own somehow.

Hopefully, we'll get the materials for that. [Since there doesn't really seem to be any trees. Jo's a little nervous about that. She's never been on an ocean before.]

What have you found on this island?

[toiletseat_girl]

That would be nice, yeah. [but George is dubious. she has little faith in the gods' benevolence. though, she does know how to sail]

Two of the spires, most of the houses, the Colosseum, the science lab, and the Clinic. So I'm actually in good shape. I might even be the one with the most medical experience on the island, if you can believe that. [she can't]

[knifecollecting]

That means we'll be dealing with any arrivals. [Jo clenches her fists for a moment, letting out a long breath.]

We should go to the clinic.

[toiletseat_girl]

Yuuuup. And all of the monsters, too. [George sounds positively thrilled by the prospect]

Yeah, someone should be there.

[knifecollecting]

I wonder if we can just drive them off a cliff. [She'll have to think about this.]

Hopefully we're not the only ones here for it.

[toiletseat_girl]

That would be nice. Of course, the last ones we had were those fucking flying monkeys, that won't work for them.

You just jinxed us.

[knifecollecting]

Don't remind me. [Jo gives the waves one last look before turning to leave.]

I hope not. That would be a problem.

[toiletseat_girl]

Sorry. It's just that you can't help remembering the creepy creatures from a so-so kids' movie. [she moves to follow Jo]

Yeah. I mean, I can patch people up after they get mauled by the monsters, but I can't do much to keep them from getting mauled in the first place.

Did you just call Wizard of Oz a "so-so" movie? [Wow. It's like she doesn't even know George.]

That's where the rest of us come in.

[toiletseat_girl]

What? It was okay, but Judy Garland got on my nerves. [granted, she could sing. but she couldn't act]

I guess. I just wish I could do both.

[knifecollecting]

Wow. [Jo just shakes her head in disbelief.]

You're still learning magic, right?

[magician_king]

It- feels like an improvement?

[Says Quentin, beside her, blinking quietly.]

I mean. Kind of? Now that I've said that we're gonna get jaws up in here, huh?

[knifecollecting]

There were sharks in the caves, apparently. [She saw that video someone posted of the skeleton. It was huge.]

Who knows what might be here. Maybe we'll never find out.

[magician_king]

Does life ever work out like that here? I know I've only been around a minute, but it seems like 'finding out' is a thing that happens.

Like pretty universally.

[knifecollecting]

[Jo laughs, sharply.]

You've got it all figured out already.

[magician_king]

Murphy's law.

[He replies, with a deep sigh.]

Other shoe dropping, that whole bag.

[knifecollecting]

At least you didn't have to deal with the double suns for too long. [She laughs quietly.]

I'm glad we still have sky.

[magician_king]

Is not having sky an option?

[He's not up on the long term history of the place.]

When I got here we were in a giant cave. Completely underground. [Sometimes it got to her.]

Fresh air is great.
