Event Log: The Beach Episode

Who: Everyone!
What: The event log for the transition to our new planet!
Where: The city, which has now been fragmented onto four separate islands.
When: May 27th-June 10th
Warnings: Surf's up! If by 'surf', you mean separation from your friends, weird sea creatures, and cold rainfall.

The sun and the sand and a drink in your hand- well, it all sounded pretty nice when you voted for the island planet, but ultimately what you're getting is a bit less glamorous.

The transition takes place instantaneously, with very little noteworthy shakeup, though those of you who are particularly in-tune with the supernatural may feel a bit dizzied or nauseated by the sudden movement. And that's exactly what it is: for those of you who are outside, the change is fairly noticeable, as in the span of a single blink, what used to be miles of desert is now rocky ocean. The city is simply in one place one moment, and then somewhere entirely new a second later.

And that somewhere new is exciting! The islands have plenty of landscape to explore and weather conditions to adjust to, fish to catch, and- wait, how do you get to the other islands? What if your friends or your home or the bar is on these other islands? Enjoy having to figure out who is where and how you're going to get by with only a small fraction of the city to work off of- hopefully those boats will come sooner rather than later...

[ It's a loud enough bang to absolutely draw his attention, and he's too damn curious for his own good. Can't just walk on by. Following the source of the sound leads him close to the park, and...one hell of a sight. ]

...The fuck? Buddy, are you seriously...making a surfboard with a bunch of fucking magic knives?

And if you are - you take commissions?

[ Seriously, what's with the knives, though? ]

[He quirks an ear towards the speech, tilting his head just a little while keeping an eye on the work in front of him.]

Uh, the knives aren't magic, what they're doing is magic, duh.

[As if that's the most obvious thing in the world. He's workin' on a spell here!]

And uhhh, if it works and you've got the right biz to give me.

[ It's pretty fucking cool, regardless. ]

I can come through on a lot, depends on what you need. You tell me, buddy.

[It sure is. Taako takes a moment to make a too obvious up and down look at him to size him up before speaking again.]

Well, what're you good at? We talkin' items, favors, services?

[He purrs out that last word, holding the s on his tongue with a grin.]

[ He smirks a little, not generally used to being scrutinized like this, but hey, he'll roll with it. ]

Services. You need something done, I'll come through. I mean, within fucking reason, don't get crazy. But I'm good at plenty of shit.

You're gonna have to define don't get crazy, bubbleh.

[Sorry, buddy, Taako will size up every moderately attractive man in this place and likely make a few inappropriate passes, even when he has a sweet boyfriend.]

Cuz I mean, I can think of plenty of things that need doin'. But I wanna put you to best use, y'know?

Well, I draw the line at killing people, how 'bout that?

[ That's probably...way extreme and different from whatever this guy had in mind, but it's where his mind is at simply because that's what he does back home. Sort of. ]

But I'm good with weapons, mechanical stuff, uh - got a photographic memory. And I'm real good with my hands.

[He chuckles, still grinning.]

Good with your hands, huh?

[Taako stop.]

You know anythin' about cooking?

[ Oh yeah, he definitely walked into that joke. ]

I know plenty, yeah. I can cook you up just about anything you want, buddy.

[ As long as he can get his hands on ingredients, of course. ]

[Oh, precisely. He does arch an eyebrow at that comment, though.]

Really now? What's your fav thing to make?

[Yes, this is a Chef Quiz. Taako so rarely finds other people who can cook in this city, and he's actually interested now.]

[ He thinks about that for a minute because there's food he loves to eat but kind of hates to make. ]

Steak on the grill. Best steak you'll ever eat. And these fucking delicious twice baked potatoes. Grilled asparagus. Oh yeah, that's the good shit.

[He whistles, thinking about how nice all of that sounds being put directly in his mouth. God, he misses good steak.]

Alright, grillin' dude, I can get on board with that. I'm a fan of that open flame sorta thing, so I dig. You ever roast shit though? I dunno if anythin' compares to a slow roasted bird of some kind.

[ He's super confident in his abilities to make a real decent meal. And he almost always comes through in that regard. ]

Grill, roast, smoke. I've done it all, buddy. You're in good hands with me.

In your good hands, huh?

[Those words sound almost like a purr, because gosh, he just can't resist with this.]

I think I can whip up another one of these for a couple of good meals. Provided you really impress me.
